There are plenty of good reasons to visit Paris: the architecture, the food, the culture…. But one auction house has another reason in store for you: the Lamborghinis.
That’s right: Paris, not Bologna, is the place to go this winter if you’re keen on starting your own collection of classic Lamborghinis. Because RM Sotheby’s has a whole slate of them lined up for its upcoming annual sale during Retromobile week.
Among them is a 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2, one of the first that the Raging Bull marque made. The property of one owner for 50 years and with less than 40,000 miles on the clock, the Azzurro Mettallizzato sports car with a black leather interior is expected to sell for between €450,000 and €500,000 (or about $540-600k).
There’s a white 1970 Espada on offer as well, held by the same owner from new until just a few years ago. It’s offered without reserve, but is projected to sell for €160-200k (~$190-240k). A dark blue 1971 Jarama 400 GT (also a 2+2) is valued at €130-180k (~$156-216k).
Prefer your Lambos with the engine behind the cabin? There’s a splendid yellow ’85 Jalpa valued at €100-125k ($120-150k), a white 1991 Countach 25th Anniversary edition at €250-300k ($300-360k), and a silver ’96 Diablo SE30 at €275-325k ($330-390k).
There’s no Miura to be found, but with the prices those have been commanding of late, that may be just as well – especially for the budding collector.
