With about a month left until the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta premieres in Detroit, another teaser image of the compact sedan has surfaced, this time previewing its profile.
We can clearly see the Arteon and China-only Phideon-inspired design in the official sketch shown by the brand’s North America CEO, Matthias Erb, and shared by Motor1.
However, its shape doesn’t surprise us, as we already caught a first glimpse of the seventh generation Jetta back in August, detailing a new styling that looks more attractive than the car it replaces – not that this was hard to begin with.
Beneath the new sheet metal is where the action takes place. It’s been reported that the new-gen Volkswagen Jetta employs the latest evolution of the Group’s MQB architecture, shared with the Golf and many more.
The platform will allow it to adopt a wide variety of engines, although no details surrounding them have been released so far, except for a rumor suggesting that the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit, which currently develops 150hp, will be carried over, albeit with a minor power boost.
We’ll know more about the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta in the coming weeks, through various teasers and reports that should arrive before its public debut set for the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, which starts on January 14 for the international press days.
