Want to own a Cadillac CTS-V, but can’t afford its $70,000 starting price? Cadillac is adding a new Touring Package option to its CTS lineup, and it promises to deliver content usually reserved for the CTS-V at a much more affordable price. It’s available for both the 3.0-liter V-6 and 3.6-liter V-6 Cadillac CTS models, with a different price point and different levels of equipment.
Opt for the 3.0-liter CTS sedan or wagon, and the Touring package will include 18-inch pearl nickel finish wheels, dual exhaust, HID headlamps and foglamps, a dark finish grille, a wing-shaped high center stop light from the CTS-V (sedan only), suede seat inserts, suede steering wheel and shifter, metal pedal covers and midnight Sapele wood trim, all for the reasonable price of $2,065.
If you’re buying a CTS with the 3.6-liter V-6, the package price jumps to $2,810, but it’s really the bigger bargain. Included are the Recaro sport seats (which sell for $3,400 by themselves on the CTS-V), suede steering wheel and shifter, metal pedal covers, midnight Sapele wood trim, dark finish grille, wing-shaped stop light (except wagon models) and 19-inch polished wheels with either high performance summer or all season tires.
While even the 3.6-liter CTS models won’t offer anywhere near the CTS-V’s level of performance, their pricing is far more attainable for us unwashed masses. Besides, even these Caddys will run from zero to sixty in around 6.3 seconds, which is quick enough to put a smile on our faces.
