Famous Hollywood actor Steve McQueen, nicknamed “The King of Cool” known for his roles in The Towering Inferno and The Thomas Crown Affair was also known for driving around in his Ferrari 275 GTB4. McQueen took delivery of the sports car while filming Bullitt in 1968.
In the 1980s, after his death, McQueen’s Ferrari then ended up in the hands of someone new who decided to convert it into a Roadster after which it moved on to yet another owner. The latest owner, who brought the vehicle into Ferrari Classiche was told of the true identity of the car – as once belonging to Mr. McQueen himself. Upon finding out the truth, the owner decided to restore it to its original condition.
As part of the process, technicians hand-made the roof and buttresses using steel panels.
Ferrari says their Classiche program that was established specifically to provide restoration and maintenance services and Certificates of Authenticity to owners of classic Ferraris revealed that they have processed over 3,300 certification requests since 2006.
