Dubbed ‘Muriwai White’ the new color pays homage to the New Zealand coastal community, Muriwai, where Bruce McLaren won his first race at the age of 15.
It’s also the name chosen for his family house in England, which was panted in a blueish-white color, much like the one you see on this McLaren 570S Spider.
MSO’s Muriwai White paint is white with blue flecks, inspired by the whitewashed walls, deep blue doors and shutters of the old McLaren homestead.
Bruce McLaren’s daughter, Amanda McLaren herself worked with MSO in order to develop this color, before returning to her childhood home in the first 570S Spider to be finished in Muriwai White.
“Muriwai was always special to my father; the exotic name as much as the house. Forty-two kilometers’ northwest of Auckland, it’s where he grew up and won his first hill climb, aged 15, at the wheel of an Ulster Austin which remains in McLaren’s heritage collection in Woking.”
“I’m sure my parents would have loved this ‘Muriwai’ color, and they would be so proud of the 570S Spider and the other McLaren road cars, as that is where my father saw the future of the company,” said Amanda McLaren.
Moving forward, MSO will be offering Muriwai White as an ‘a la carte option’, available on any McLaren road car.
