It appears as though the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze will not be offered with a manual transmission.
The Truth About Cars uncovered the plans to ditch the stick shift while sifting through the General Motors VIN decoder. Here, it was discovered that a manual option is no longer listed on any of the Cruze variants set to hit the market for the 2019 model year.
The decoder reveals that the Cruze L, Cruze LS, Cruze LT, Cruze Premier, and Cruze Diesel will all feature an automatic gearbox. In place of a manual for an unspecified Cruze variant is a new continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Beyond the available transmissions, the documents indicate that both the 1.4-liter turbo petrol and 1.6-liter diesel currently on offer will remain through the 2019 model year. Joining these two familiar engines will be the 1.5-liter four-cylinder of the entry-level Chevrolet Malibu with 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, and a 1.4-liter mill running on compressed natural gas.
