In a daring stunt for the promotion of its new V8 powered Continental, Bentley made its dramatic debut by flying one of the latest of its 2013 Coupes over the city of Munich.

Motor Authority reported that anyone stuck in the midst of the city’s rush hour traffic last week would have seen the bright red Bentley suspended beneath a helicopter to arrive at a specially-designed podium situated on top of a high rise complex close to Munich’s city centre. Next to his, was the fashionable ‘SkyLounge,’ a special venue positioned in a glazed bridge between two skyscrapers where the exclusive launch party for the vehicle was being held, for more than 300 VIP guests.

Bentley’s new V8 Continental range, that will be available in both GT coupe and GTC convertible bodystyles, debuts the British brand’s latest twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8. The vehicle’s engine produces 500 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque but thanks to fuel saving technologies including cylinder deactivation, direct injection technology, low friction bearings, thermal management and brake energy regeneration the engine produces 40 percent less CO2 emissions than Bentley’s existing 6.0-litre W-12.
