2011 Infiniti G25 Sedan – ‘A Journey in Luxury and Efficiency’

Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan, expands its offerings with a new 2.5 liter V6 equipped G25 sedan.  The new G25 is available with standard rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

With the new G25 sedan, Infiniti broadens the appeal of the G Line with a model designed to provide an additional choice for buyers looking for a true luxury sedan, but who might not need the higher levels of performance provided by the larger engine equipped G37 models.  The G25 is well positioned in the heart of the luxury sport sedan market, bringing Infiniti’s Inspired Performance to a wider selection of buyers.

The new 2011 G25 sedan shares the same dynamic and striking seductive exterior defined by its long, wave-like aluminum hood, pushed-back raked A-pillars, aggressive, wide stance, double-arch grille with sculpted grille blades, HID bi-functional xenon headlamps, L-shaped signature G-style LED taillights, chrome trunk finisher which also functions as a lip spoiler, and dual, 4 inch wide chrome exhaust tips.  The flared fenders are nicely stuffed with standard 17X7.5 inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped with Goodyear Eagle RSA 225/55R17in. all-season performance tires.

Besides sharing the same sporty and luxurious exterior styling as the G37, the G25 is no slouch when it comes to speed and cruising power.   It features a smaller 2.5 liter displacement, all-aluminum V6 engine featuring double overhead camshafts, VVT, and resin-coated aluminum pistons.  This small yet potent V6 engine generates 218hp and 187lb.ft. of torque, enough to get the new G25 out to 60mph from a standstill in just a little over 7-seconds.

The new G25 comes standard with Infiniti’s new 7-speed automatic transmission with DS matching modes and Downshift Rev Matching.  You can drive it in full automatic with very smooth and silent automatic shifting or move the leather wrapped stick into manual and push up to a higher gear or pull back to a lower gear.  When downshifting the gear change is perfectly rev matched for increased control and acceleration, or de-acceleration.

The new G25 also shares it big brothers fully independent suspension system for a very smooth ride with precise handling and control.  Up front is a double-wishbone setup with coil springs, gas-charged shocks and stabilizer bar.  The rear setup features multi-links, coil springs, gas-charged shocks and a stabilizer bar.  It really smoothes out poorly paved roads and slices around curving roads with ease.  This is the perfect combination that Infiniti is known for, plus the G25 gets much better fuel economy of 20mpg/city and 30mpg/highway.  These are great specs for a real luxury sport sedan that seats five people.

The new G25 also slows down with power and control thanks to large, power-assisted steel disc brakes at all four wheels.  Up front are the same G37’s 12.6 inch vented discs clamped with dual-piston calipers, and 12.1 inch vented discs clamped with single-piston calipers in the rear.  Your braking control and power is enhanced with standard ABS, EBD, BA working in conjunction with the standard Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control systems.

Inside the new G25 is plenty of room for five people sitting in a well crafted interior environment with plenty of luxury features such as standard leather-appointed seating with 8-way power adjustable/heated driver and front passenger seats, hand-stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel with steering wheel mounted audio and cruise-control switches, tilt/telescopic column, electroluminescent instrumentation with new white-themed illumination, Infiniti Intelligent key with Push Button Start/Stop, standard audio system featuring in-dash CD changer with RDS AM-FM-XM stereo radio, auxiliary audio input, MP3 playback capability and six-speakers, an optional Studio on Wheels by Bose with a 3-way front door speaker array using 10 inch subwoofers and a parcel shelf-mounted subwoofer, leather wrapped shifter lever with aluminum trim, chrome and Shodo-finish aluminum trim on the dashboard, center console and doors, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, optional USB port for music playback devices, Infiniti signature analog quartz clock, grab handles above each door, digital automatic, dual-zone climate control with micro filtration and rear heater vents, power windows with front express up/down, power door locks, front dual maps lights, rear reading lights, dual vanity mirrors with lights, pull-down rear armrest and dual cupholders, Homelink Universal transceiver, 7 inch color display with Infiniti’s controller, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, auto on/off HID headlights, rear defogger, rain-sensing wipers/washers, rear-view camera, thick cut-pile carpeting with front/rear carpeted floor mats, storage slots in each front door, and a deep and wide lighted glove box.  My test G25 Journey came with the optional power sliding tinted glass moonroof.

Standard safety features include Infiniti advanced airbag system with front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, roof-mounted side-impact curtain airbags, 3-point safety belts for all five seats plus front load limiters/pretensioners, LATCH system for child seats, front-seat active head restraints, tire pressure monitoring system, Zone body construction with front/rear crumple zones, steel beams in each door, Infiniti immobilizer system, vehicle alarm, steel beams in each door and an emergency inside trunk release.

The new Infiniti G25 gives Infiniti consumers a new choice to increase fuel efficiency, pass by fuel fill-ups and safe money in the long run.  The new 2011 Infiniti G25 Journey that I tested has a base price of just $32,350.00 with a total price for the moonroof option of just $34,225.00 including destination charges.  You get the same great Infiniti styling, interior luxury and convenience plus a great ride whether cruising the highway or tackling curving roads.
