Ford has officially revealed its all-new Mondeo sedan at the Detroit Motor Show. Unveiled as the Ford Fusion, the new model will be badged as the Mondeo for the European and Australian market as part of the auto manufacturer’s One Ford policy for designing an engineering vehicles to be distributed to the global market.

The first noticeable styling tweak, is the similarity of the Ford/Mondeo’s bold and broad grille to that of the Aston Martin. The new design of the Mondeo is carried over from the Evos Concept car revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011 as well as the more recently revealed EcoSport in Delhi.

The Fusion/Mondeo will be offered with a range of engines including turbochaged 1.6-litre (134kW/233Nm) and 2.0-litre (177kW/340Nm) “EcoBoost” powerplants and a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine (127kW/230Nm). A non-turbo 2.0-litre hybrid model will also be available. An all-wheel-drive performance model has already been proclaimed as an option for the 2.0-litre EcoBoost model, and it will be fitted with six-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters and 19-inch wheels.
