Check Out Tesla’s Hidden ‘Mario Kart’ Autopilot Mode

Even though Tesla builds some of the world’s most advanced cars, sometimes it seems like they’re the only ones who could get away with something as goofy as this.

In order to activate this ‘Mario Kart Rainbow’ look within the Autopilot, all you need to do is have the latest firmware and click ‘Cruise Control’ four times after it has already been enabled.

As a result, you get this fun rainbow road, which almost looks like it’s straight out of Mario Kart, except that the one in the game had vertical stripes whereas Tesla’s comes with horizontal ones. Even so, the end-result is the same and we have to hand it to the American EV maker for injecting more fun into a very serious and advanced product.

In a way, unlocking this hidden feature is much like fast-tapping your Android OS logo within your phone’s settings in order to play that hidden game.

Apparently though, when you do enable this rainbow road (Elon Musk calls it the “Psychedelic Cowbell Road”), the car also turns the radio volume up, which is definitely strange. Still, this fun little Easter egg looks even cooler if the car is going faster.
