The new convertible, known as the F33, is expected to be available in 2013 which coincides with the arrival of  the coupe. The spy shots indicate that the convertible will feature an automated folding hard-top just like the one on the model it is set to replace.

At this point however, it is unclear what name BMW will choose for this new 3-Series based coupe and convertible. Although the cars may remain in the 3-series family it is likely that they may rather adopt a 4-series moniker.

As for the engine enthusiasts can expect the same four- and six-cylinder engines from the sedan to the convertible for the regular models with a 240 horsepower 2.0-litre turbo in the base model and a 300 horsepower 3.0-litre turbo in the range-topper.
