Renowned for pushing buttons, boundaries and always striving to bring their readers something new and different, TopGear Magazine South Africa has become the first motoring magazine in the country to publish in 3D.
Each copy of the August issue, which goes on sale countrywide today, Monday 23 July is bagged with special 3D glasses so readers can enjoy the individually created 3D features in the magazine.
The production process was quite intricate and demanding, with each single picture demanding a days’ worth of backroom work to deconstruct the photographs and then recreate them in 3D. However, the results were well worth the effort though.
This special 3D issue comes in the wake of the hugely successful TopGear Festival in Durban and the magazine itself being voted the coolest male magazine in South Africa in the Sunday Times Generation Next Study. “We thought a 3D issue would be a really cool thing to do. Those TopGear fans that couldn’t travel to the show in Durban, can get a taste of the real thing by putting on their 3D specs and to see what Jeremy Clarkson and the boys got up to in Durbs. It’s a bit of fun and definitely something different, which is what we’re all about here at TopGear,” says editor Pierre Steyn.
TopGear Magazine SA launched in South Africa in September 2011.
