Nissan To Expand High-Performance Platform with Nismo and Nismo RS Vehicles

Wouldn’t it be amazing if every automaker had their own dedicated “performance line” of vehicles? Enthusiasts would naturally be happier and this world would ultimately be a better place, for everyone. Unfortunately, a performance line in every make is just a pipe dream. However, Nissan plans to step up to the performance name plate to release a new line of Nismo and Nismo RS versions of the Nissan Leaf, 370Z, Juke and GT-R.

I am not sure how much faster the Nissan GT-R can get, but we are all for it if the purported Nismo or Nismo RS version does the unthinkable.

The expansion of the Nismo line is expected to start with the Nismo Juke that debuted at Le Mans. Following in line will be a Nismo Leaf, which was already transformed into a Leaf Nismo RC racer for demonstration purposes. The 370Z will continue to get the Nismo treatment while the ‘Nismo’ Nissan GT-R will probably be the more anticipated variant to come from the automaker.

The Nismo RS cars will be much more track-focused and reserved for the track-focused enthusiast. You can think of them as something along the lines of the wickedly extreme Juke R. We expect to see the first example of a Nismo RS car when the redesigned 370Z, also in a Nismo RS flavor, hits the floor in 2014.
