BMW M4 DTM Special Edition Puts Up A Fight Against Mercedes-AMG GT R

The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition was unveiled after Marco Wittman won the 2016 DTM driver’s title, and was a limited run of only 200 units.

Mind you, it’s not just an M4 with a fancy paintjob and some extras thrown in. In fact, it’s also a very competent one in a straight line, as it utilizes the same water injection system as the hardcore M4 GTS, pumping out a total of 500 PS (493 HP) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque.

According to the Bavarian automaker, the M4 DTM will get from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds, before topping out at 305 km/h (189 mph).

On the other side of the track is the Mercedes-AMG GT R, packing 585 PS and even more torque than the Bimmer, at 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). On paper, it should also out-sprint the M4 in the 0-100 km run by roughly 0.2 seconds, although the difference is so small that, in real world conditions, things might prove to be a bit different.

Moreover, the AMG GT R is the heavier car here, by a considerable 120 kg (265 lbs). So who do you think won this drag race? The answer lies in the video that follows right after the jump.
