2018 Mercedes A-Class Spotted On The Streets Of Germany

The 2018 Mercedes A-Class has been spotted on the streets of Schweinfurt, Germany by CarScoops reader Ismail.

Dressed in familiar black and white camouflage, the redesigned model will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor but adopt a more stylish and upscale design. Details are hard to make out but we can expect slimmer headlights, door-mounted mirrors, and a more rakish rear window.

Previous spy photos have shown the cabin will get a high-tech makeover and be offered with a digital instrument cluster as well as a new infotainment system. The model is also slated to have circular air vents and a three-spoke steering wheel.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but we can expect an assortment of petrol and diesel options including an A40 AMG with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing around 340 hp (253 kW). Buyers looking for something more powerful can wait for the A45 AMG which is expected to have an all-new engine developing around 402 hp (300 kW).

The latest A-Class is expected to ride an updated version of the MFA platform. Little is known about the architecture but it is expected to grow in size to create a more accommodating cabin. Despite being larger, the platform is expected to be lighter than its predecessor and rumors have suggested the new A-Class will drop around 50 kg (101 lbs).

Thanks to Ismail for the tip!
