Mercedes-Benz Set To Claim The Luxury Sales Crown In The U.S.

The year is coming to a close and it appears Mercedes has clinched the luxury sales crown in the United States for the second year in a row.

As reported on Bloomberg, though November of 2017, Mercedes sold 302,043 units thanks in part to strong sellers such as the C-Class, GLC, and GLE. Mercedes-AMG sales were also up 49.6% for the year to total of 30,116 units. This is due in large part to the entry-level 43 lineup which is more affordable than full-bore AMG models.

The second place title is in contention as BMW and Lexus are only separated by a couple thousand units. BMW currently has the lead with 271,432 units but Lexus is close behind with 269,671 sales. Overall, BMW sales are down 3.2 percent while Lexus sales have sagged 7 percent for the year.

Audi is in a distant fourth but it has been an impressive year for the automaker as November marked the 83rd straight month of record sales. Year-to-date sales have totaled 199,534 units which is an increase of 6.7 percent over last year. This is due in large part to the success of the Q5 and Q7 crossovers which have been a hit with consumers.
