Mysterious Volkswagen Compact SUV Scooped In China

Volkswagen continues their SUV expansion with yet another vehicle that could be exclusively aimed at the Chinese market.

Seen in a set of spy shots posted from China’s AutoHome, the SUV’s exterior is completely hidden away under a large cover, which suggests perhaps that the automaker has the design all figured out.

The cabin is very much visible in these pictures, and it gets a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, leather and Alcantara-wrapped seats with white stitching, gloss black trim, driving mode selector, infotainment system, analogue instrument cluster, and electronic parking brake.

Despite its compact size appearance, the mysterious SUV’s interior differs from that of the Volkswagen T-Roc, which is due to arrive in China in mid-2018. The differences are visible on the dashboard, where the central air vents are positioned below the infotainment system, and not on each side of it, and the controls for the climate system sit under the air vents.

Reports from China say that this vehicle comes from the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture, and it should be unveiled in December 2018, so we’re likely going to see and learn more of it in the coming months.
