GM to Test Chevrolet Cruze & Daewoo Lacetti EVs

General Motors has said that it intends to test a fleet of Chevrolet Cruze and Daewoo Lacetti Evs in South Korea. The exercise has been formulated with the objective of checking GM’s core vehicle electrification process. The prototypes feature a 31-kWh battery and a 150 kW (201 hp / 204 PS) electric motor, which enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 165 km/h (103 mph).

Initial testing shows that the LG-supplied battery allows the EV to travel up to 160 km (100 miles) on a single charge. The battery can be recharged with a standard 220V household outlet in approximately 8 to 10 hours.

As of now, there no plans for mass production, say sources at GM. They are however taking the fact that they were able to develop this in less than a year as an indication of what they have in mind to offer to the Korean market, and to customers around the world.
