Paul McCartney’s DB5 Fetches $1.8 Million, Ringo’s Mini Sold To Spice Girl

Both the Aston Martin DB5 formerly owned by Paul McCartney and a classic Mini Cooper owned by Ringo Starr were sold at Bonhams’ London auction late last week.

Unsurprisingly, the DB5 attracted interested from many prospective buyers and was ultimately sold for $1.8 million, slightly more than pre-auction estimates.

McCartney purchased the DB5, in Sierra Blue with a black interior, in 1964 and initially registered it to his accounting firm, though it was soon registered directly to his name. After McCartney’s ownership, the DB5 passed through the hands of several other collectors, including Chris Evans. It was also restored and repainted in silver with a deep Mulberry red interior.

As for Ringo Starr’s Mini, it changed hands for a touch under $137,000 and was purchased by Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice of the Spice Girls. This Mini is unique, as it was enlarged to fit Starr’s drum kit and outfitted with a reupholstered interior that includes numerous leather and wood trimmings.
