Acura NSX Dares To Challenge Tesla Model S P100D In 1/4 Mile Drag Race 1

Since there aren’t many supercars that can keep up with a Tesla Model S P100D over short distances, perhaps it’s time for everyone to acknowledge just how quick the all-new NSX really is.

This is the same NSX that ran a 1/4 mile in just over 11 seconds last week, maxing out at 124 mph (200 km/h) as it crossed the finish line. It’s also mostly stock, with the only modification being a Fabspeed exhaust system. It may not be as powerful as the P100D, but its 581 PS (573 HP) and 686 Nm (506 lb-ft) of torque is nothing to laugh at.

The two cars raced twice, though the second time, the Model S didn’t have as good a start as it did during the first run. Either way, it was really close, with just 0.14 seconds between them.

So, did the NSX manage to outrun the all-conquering Tesla? There’s only one way to find out: just press the play button in the video that follows right after the jump.

CR-V Custom Concept Leads Honda’s Lineup For The 2018 Tokyo Salon 24

In just a couple of weeks the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon will open its doors, and Honda has just revealed the vehicles that it will bring on the event.

Perhaps the most important of them will be the CR-V Custom Concept pictured above. Though Honda has only released the name and a sole image, our best guess is that we could be looking at a sportier version of the company’s compact crossover.

The CR-V won’t be the only concept on display, though – not by a long shot. It’ll be joined by the RS Custom Concept of the Jade minivan, while the Modulo X line will also be well represented by concept versions of the STEP WGN and S660 kei cars, and the Mugen division will show the Civic Type R-based RC 20 GT.

The new Jade RS production model will be showcased as well, alongside a Mugen-tuned Civic hatchback. Also on display will be the new NSX, Civic Type R, N-One RS, and Freed Modulo X, together with an array of racing models like the Dallara DW12 IndyCar, NSX GT3, Civic TCR, Super Formula single-seater, and Super GT-spec NSX GT – plus, of course, a number of Honda’s racing motorcycles.

Learning Teen Driver Takes A Shot At A Manual Acura NSX 21

If you were like us, you probably learned to drive stick shift in a car that your parents/relative/friend didn’t care about getting ruined.

The following 15-year-old, however, had the chance to experience a manual gearbox behind the wheel of an Acura NSX – no thanks to YouTube views.

The NSX in question is a first-generation model and unquestionably one of the most iconic performance cars to ever leave Japan. Have to say, if we were fortunate enough to own an NSX, we certainly wouldn’t be lending it out to any teenagers, views be damned!

With that being said, it’s worth noting that the NSX, like many other performance-focused Hondas, has a very slick manual gearbox with a positive feel, perhaps making it the perfect choice to learn the basics.

Power for the first-generation NSX was initially provided by a C30A V6 engine delivering 270 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. Later iterations had a slightly more potent C32B V6 with 290 hp and 224 lb-ft.

2017 Acura NSX With Custom Exhaust Runs The 1/4 Mile In 11 Seconds 21

Unlike the Tesla Model S, Challenger Hellcat or McLaren 720S, we haven’t seen the 2017 Acura NSX doing a lot of quarter-mile runs.

Some might say the reason is that it doesn’t have a monstrous amount of power, with a reasonable 581 PS (573 HP) and 686 Nm (506 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. Well, reasonable for a modern supercar, that is.

Then again, it has been known to demolish the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador and Nissan GT-R in a straight line, so the new NSX is anything but slow.

In this particular case, we’ve got a mostly stock version that’s been fitted with a Fabspeed exhaust system, which definitely makes its presence felt (or rather heard), as it sounds a little more aggressive than usual.

We already knew the NSX could get from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in about 3 seconds flat. However, if you let it go a while longer, it will cover a 1/4 mile in just over 11 seconds and hitting a speed of 124 mph (200 km/h). Not bad at all, is it?

Liberty Walk Acura NSX Is A Hit With Pedestrians In Las Vegas 6

There may be a greater range of supercars on the market than ever before, but that doesn’t mean the allure of exotics has faded in recent times. In fact, the complete opposite is true.

As supercar owners continually try to out-do one another, the world of aftermarket tuning has exploded, particularly for vehicles that cost as much as a house. Of all the tuners, few are better known for wild creations than Liberty Walk.

Eager to see how the public reacts to an Acura NSX outfitted with a Liberty Walk widebody kit and towering rear wing, the Japanese tuner took to the streets of Las Vegas to capture the expressions of locals and visitors in the party city.

In standard guise, the new NSX is quite a head-turner. However, this Liberty Walk example takes things to entirely new extremes.

Sadly, it seems evident that driveability has been sacrificed in favor of aesthetics.

Car Design Student Thinks Tesla Copied Acura’s NSX, What Do You Say? 23

Now more than ever, it seems as though car enthusiasts are continually claiming the designs of new vehicles copy the styling of existing vehicles.

For example, many online have indicated that the front of the new Aston Martin Vantage looks just like a slightly more aggressive Mazda MX-5 Miata.

Unquestionably the most head-turning new car released in the past week is the Tesla Roadster and it too has failed to escape comparisons with other cars. More specifically, a car design student named Eriquin G. emailed us asserting that the design of the Roadster closely mimics that of the Honda NSX.

The designer points out a number of similarities between the duo. For starters, both the Roadster show car and the NSX utilize similar wheels, although the Tesla does have a few more spokes. Elsewhere, we can see a similar body line just after the front wheel arch, reaching back along the doors. The rear side windows of the duo also bear some resemblance to each other.

Looking from above, the curiosities continue. Both the Roadster and NSX feature hoods with tapered lines stretching down towards the front bumper. The shape of the rear quarter panels is also quite similar, although the Tesla is slightly more curvaceous and uses fewer straight lines than the NSX.

In this writer’s opinion, the two do look quite similar but not to a worrying extent and certainly nowhere near the blatant rip-offs that have emerged from China in recent years.

Let us know what you think in the comments below. Do you think Tesla copied the NSX, another production car or is it an original design that looks like no other on the road?

Don’t Be Fooled By Low Sales, The 2018 Acura NSX Is A Masterpiece 10

Although the Acura NSX is a technological marvel and essentially a mini-Porsche 918 Spyder, sales of the Japanese supercar haven’t been as strong as the brand would have hoped.

The car’s $156,600 starting price is certainly a key contributor to the meager sales, though one shouldn’t be fooled into thinking the NSX isn’t anything but remarkable, despite being far less common than rivals like the McLaren 570S and Porsche 911 Turbo.

In a bid to show that the NSX is much more than its sales figures may suggest, Redline Reviews jumped behind the wheel of a stunning blue example to explore every tiny detail of the car in a comprehensive 32-minute review.

The key factor distinguishing the NSX from all of its rivals is its powertrain. It is the only car in its segment with a hybrid powertrain, consisting of a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 and three electric motors. It also features a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Have Yourself A Barely Used Formula Red 1993 Acura NSX 2

This low-mileage black on red 1993 Acura NSX has been driven just 6,037 miles (9,715 km) and could be all yours if you can come up with the winning bid.

With seven days left to bid on Bring A Trailer, the highest anybody has gone is $35,0000, which goes to show how valuable this car still is, especially one that appears to be in extremely good condition.

Powered comes from a 3.0-liter VTEC V6 engine, which works in collaboration with a 5-speed manual transmission, something driving enthusiasts can’t get enough of.

Standard features include 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes, torque control differential, ABS, automatic climate control, cruise control, variable intermittent wipers, courtesy lights, a BOSE 4-speaker audio system, leather-trimmed seats/door panels/steering wheel, 4-way power seats, side window defoggers and quite a few more.

As for mods, there’s the tinted windows, Zanardi floor mats, carbon fiber interior trim and that’s pretty much it. The car is otherwise stock.

Fair warning, the leather inside does have some wear on it, but overall, the cabin seems very clean and well-maintained. Somebody’s definitely going to enjoy owning this car, especially the driving part.
