Most times, as the age of a particular performance vehicle starts to mount, the manufacturer tends to introduce a hard-core ‘performance-boosted’ version of the said vehicle. Ferrari has passionately taken this very approach in the past and they are expected to do so again with the 562 hp Ferrari 458 Italia introducing a 620 horsepower 458 Monte Carlo edition.

Over the years, some of the most notable late model Ferrari’s to receive a special one-off performance-boost treatment were the F430 into the 430 Scuderia, the 599 GTB Fiorano into the 599 GTO, and the 360 Modena into the 360 Challenge Stradale. Each of these added performance variations of Ferrari vehicles not only added power, but they improved suspension geometry, lightened the chassis thanks to a stripped interior and other lightweight components, upgraded the brakes and added some functional visual aesthetics.

The new Ferrari 458 Monte Carlo, as reported rumors suggest, is expected to be nothing short of Ferrari’s best when it comes to re-engineering an already capable exotic vehicle. The name of the Ferrari 458 Monte Carlo pays homage to where the famous Monaco Grand Prix is held. It would also be fitting that Ferrari unveils this rumored 458 Monte Carlo in Monaco.

Ferrari 458 Challenge Spotted Racing Around Ferrari HQ & Fiorano (Video) 5

The Ferrari 458 Challenge has been spotted doing some testing on the Fiorano track and around the Ferrari headquarters. A video that has emerged online via YouTube brings in not many details except for the noise it makes, and we love that growl.

We get to understand that this racer machine, a take off from the 458 Italia built for Ferrari’s single-racing series, comes sporting a 4499cc V8 engine that returns 570 PS (562 hp / 419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. Specs suggest that this is coupled to a modified dual-clutch gearbox with ‘F1-Trac’ for any kind of track condition. T

Built with a race suspension that comprises solid aluminum bushings, stiffer springs, and single-rate dampers and Brembo CCM2 brakes, the car sports 19-inch wheels that run on Pirelli rubber. Extremely thin body panels, carbon fiber components and Lexan windows are being attributed to the reduced weight.

The video shows the 458 Challenge speeding up the Fiorano test track in 1 minute and 16.5 seconds. Here’s the video:

Ferrari 458 Challenge At The Vallelunga Race Circuit 2
Posted by Lloyd in Automotive, Ferrari, Ferrari 458 Challenge, ferrari 458 italia on 08 2nd, 2010

The Ferrari 458 Challenge, a one-off race-prepped version of the Ferrari 458 Italia, was already revealed a few weeks ago and now Ferrari is releasing images of the 458 Challenge during its session at Vallelunga Race Circuit.

It was rather expected to see a new one-off version of the Ferrari 458 Italia to join the stable of other race-prepped Italian stallions. Just like any other race version of a Ferrari, owners should be stoked to have one that has more power and is lighter giving it an edge over the normal run-of-the-mill street-version Ferrari. Just to demonstrate how much more serious the 458 Challenge is vs. its predecessor, the 458 Challenge was able to corner at an astonishing 1.6g’s of lateral acceleration and lap Fiorano over two seconds faster.

Ferrari 458 Challenge Unveiled At Maranello 15
Posted by Alex Ion in 458, Challenge, Ferrari, Ferrari 458 Challenge, Maranello, Super car news on 07 15th, 2010

The Ferrari annual dealer meeting at Maranello proved to be the venue for the unveiling of the 458 Challenge. The car, based on the 458 Italia, features a modified dual-clutch F1 gearbox, an ‘E-Diff’ electronic differential, and an ‘F1-Trac’ traction control system equipped with settings for wet and dry conditions.

Additionally it has a race suspension (with solid aluminum bushings, stiffer springs, and single-rate dampers), high performance Brembo CCM2 brakes, and 19-inch wheels with Pirelli tires.

The vehicle’s weight has successfully been reduced by thinner body panels, carbon fiber components, and Lexan windows. No details on the specs were given, there is confirmation that the 458 Italia scales in at 1380 kg.

Engine power is from a 4497 cc V8 engine (producing 570 PS (562 hp / 419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque). This equipment means that this extremely responsive car laps the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute, 16.5 seconds – a whole two seconds faster than the F430 Challenge.
