It’s always fun to see two cars go head to head in battle. Whether it’s a drag race, a endurance race or power battle – cars showing off against each other get’s us revving.

But, when tuned cars are pitted against one another, it becomes a different story – and all the more an exciting story!

In this delightful video we came across, a tuning battle of epic portions is taking place. In this battle of tuned-one’s, a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 goes up against a (heavily tuned) Honda Civic.

Now, as we all know, Honda Civic’s are a popular choice for people who are looking to tune up a car. And this one is no exception – it has an incredible amount of power; 750 horsepower to be precise!

But, keep in mind that the Corvette is also tuned up a bit, and serves up a good 600 horsepower.

Would you put your money on the Honda or the Corvette?

Report: New Details of Upcoming C7 Corvette Z06 & ZR1 Emerge 19

The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has managed to re-captivate enthusiasts all around the world, even those who were never really fans of the iconic American sports car in the first place. Being that the Stingray has reignited the love for the Corvette; the forward momentum will not stop any time soon as Chevrolet appears to make plans for launching Z06 and ZR1 versions of the new C7 Corvette.

A report out of Motor Trend states that the C7 Z06 will get an updated version of the 7.0-liter V8 engine with as much as 600 horsepower. Then, things start to really get interesting in the report as it speculates that the next ZR1 could see as much as 700 horsepower from both supercharging and twin-turbocharging the engine.

Rumors have already circulated that General Motors is testing an engine with sequential forced-induction for powering the next ZR1 as well as the Cadillac CTS-V. Usually horsepower figures for the Z06 and ZR1 are respectively separated by over just over 100 horsepower. Naturally the next CTS-V will get a slightly de-tuned version of the forthcoming C7 Corvette ZR1′s engine as it does for the current model year.

As it looks, in technical retrospect, these numbers are rumored by Motor Trend should not be too far off from reality. If things start to go south below 700 horsepower with the range-topping C7 Corvette ZR1, expect the Z06 to get under 600 horsepower while the Cadillac CTS-V falls in line using the same horsepower gap numbers that we currently see.

Either way, the new C7 Corvette Z06 and ZR1 will be better performers incorporating a better variation of everything you see in the new Stingray with a hard-core edge on performance. We won’t see these American iterations of supercar bliss action in the new Vette launched out of showrooms until at least a year from now but for now, let’s keep our fingers crossed for that 700 horsepower mark.

Corvette ZR1 Dukes It Out with Ferrari 458 Italia & McLaren MP4-12C: Video 31

The new Corvette ZR1, Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C are closely matched supercars. The three kings, as Road & Track calls them in their latest comparison video, are pitted against each other in a series of tests. Each of the vehicles has their own performance attributes and tends to lay down comparable horsepower numbers to the pavement through their rear wheels from a V8 engine. Road & Track took the three beastly vehicles out with the help of former IMSA champion Steve Millen and Hennessey Performance for some ‘testing’.

The 592 horsepower 3.8-liter turbocharged V8 McLaren MP4-12C is a one-of-a-kind supercar. The Ferrari 458 Italia’s 562 horsepower 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 screams just like its F1 siblings. The Corvette ZR1, costing over $100K less than its Euro rivals, remains to be the king of straight-line performance mainly due to its massive 6.2-liter 639 horsepower supercharged V8. Can the ZR1 hang with the European exotics in other tests? Hit up the full test video from Road & Track below to find out.

Blue Devil vs Blue Angel Drag Race Video: Corvette ZR1 vs. F/A-18 Hornet 27

If you have ever seen the Blue Angels in action at an airshow, then you know just how awesome they are. Better yet, if you have ever been lucky enough to strap in the cockpit of an F/A-18 Hornet, then you really can contest to how much of a bad-assed jet it really is. The new Corvette ZR1 is probably one of the closest things you can experience on land similar to a jet fighter (excluding the Bugatti Veyron of course). MotorTrend takes the ZR1 (Blue Devil) out against a Blue Angel F/A-18 Hornet for a drag race to 100mph just to see who would really win. Remember, the ZR1 can reach 60mph from a standstill in 3.3 second in part due to its 638 horsepower Supercharged V8. On the other hand, the F/A-18 Hornet packs in over 32,000 lbs of thrust making it capable of mach 1.8 (1,400mph). Check out the video below and enjoy!

MotorTrend Editor at Large Arthur St. Antoine pits Chevy’s awesome “Blue Devil” — the Corvette ZR1 — against its toughest adversary yet: a Blue Angels F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet.

2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Spied Packing A 6.2-Liter Supercharged V8 23

We guessed it in our review of the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS, the new 2012 Camaro Z28 will come out and it will sport a 6.2-liter Supercharged V8! This is news hot off of the press as spy shots recently posted on Camaro5.com confirm this rumor. Further proof of concept is via a spy photograph that reveals a paper sign on the dash of the test car reading: “5. 2012 Chevrolet Camaro… 6.2L SC V8, 6AT”. We can pretty much sum up what that lingo means but just like it says on Camaro5, we are not sure if it is the LS9 (Corvette ZR1) or the LSA motor. I am thinking 556 horsepower or more! We will be sure to post more details as they are provided.

“America Still Builds Rockets” – 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Commercial 13

I honestly cannot think of the last time that I saw an exclusive Chevy Corvette Commercial on TV. It is about time GM puts some marketing behind a remarkable sports car and major staple in American ingenuity.

In the newly released Corvette commercial GM features the new ZR1 and says “It’s nice to know America still builds rockets”. Just the other day GM announced they would let future buyers of Corvette Z06 and ZR1s to assemble their own engine.

I speculate GM will attempt to give the Corvette a better image through more marketing like this. Not that the 638hp Corvette ZR1 really needs it. For now, enjoy the video below!
