We already know that Lamborghini make some seriously sexy cars. Thus, with the unveiling of their latest baby, the Lamborghini Huracan, the Italian car maker has kept the sexiness firmly in place.

Unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show for the first time yesterday, the Huracan (obviously) stole the spotlight from any other car trying to show off at the show. And when you see what it looks like, it’s not surprising in the least.

Lamborghini aims to push the Huracan into the Gallardo’s market. The Gallardo, which is the company’s top selling model, could very well be replaced by the Huracan in terms of sales.

Design wise, you can definitely see that the makers have drawn some inspiration from the Huracan’s sibling, the ever popular Aventador. It’s super sleek and utterly sexy and is guaranteed to make any car fan weak at the knees.

There are very clear diagonal lines that run through the entire body of the car and hexagonal shapes are present, especially in the front. In essence, the car looks sharp end edgy yet terribly sleek and sophisticated.

The Huracan features V10 engine (naturally) that can reach a top speed of 325km/h. And of course let’s not forget that Lamborghini’s latstest can go from 0-1oo km/h in just over 3 seconds. 3.2 seconds to be precise.

While main parts of the body is made from carbon fibre and aluminum, light weight materials have been used elsewhere in the car.

However, this still doesn’t make the Huracan any lighter really. The Huracan weighs 1422kg – thus making it a substantial 12kg heavier than the Gallardo. But, let’s be honest – what is 12kg now really?

All in all the Huracan is breathtakingly beautiful and there’s no doubt that it would be on many a rich man’s wish list.

Hennessey Venom GT breaks land speed record 25

Hennessy

Well this is some really exciting news on a Tuesday afternoon!

While we love ourselves a bit of super car, we really like it when these super cars push it to there limits – and if a land speed record gets broken in the process, all the better.

The Hennessey Venom GT has broken the land speed record (only just) at an incredible 270,4 mph. To put that into perspective; the Venom topped an amazing 435,16 km/h. Now that’s one fast car.

While Hennessey is celebrating, one company that is surely not as happy (and probably plotting their revenge) is Bugatti. Before the Venom took top honours, that record belonged to the Bugatti Veyron  Super Sport that held the record at 269,86 mph. Or 434,29 km/h.

That was set up four years ago.

The record breaking attempt naturally needed a big space to race. So Hennessey packed up their voluptuous Venom and took it ver to the John F. Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, where, eventually, the record was broken.

Hennessy

However, there is a little spanner in the works. Hennessey’s new record is not, per say, an official record. It is not recognized by the Guinness Book of world Records only because of one minor detail.

Guinness requires that these production cars racing for the record to have at least 30 made. Unfortunately for the Venom GT, only 29 will be made. What a pity.

Still, this doesn’t stop us from enjoying the Hennessey Venom GT’s super impressive performance! And lucky for us, the people over at Hennessey decided to film the momentous occasion.

MCL P1

There has been much excitement about McLaren’s latest offering, the P1. Some have even described this super car as the ultimate hyper car – something McLaren is surely proud of.

To see what all the hype is about and if the P1 really is so impressive, our favorite car expert, Chris Harris, took the car for a drive around the Yas MArina Grand Prix Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Chris also chats to McLaren’s chief test driver, Chris Goodwin, about the immaculate P1.

To be fair though, the car Chris gets to take around the track is a prototype for the P1 called the XP7. However, even if this is just a taste of whats to come with the full production model P1, we are really excited!

It sure does seem like any petrol head’s dream to drive a Porsche GT3, an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S and a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. Now imagine having a go at these three cars all in one day.

Well, thats what our favorite petrol head, Chris Harris, has the opportunity of doing recently.

Chris drives these cars (we’d like to think on behalf of us) and gives a short breakdown on what it feels like to be at the steer of any of these. Which car is best for road driving? And which one is best suited to a racing track?

Dubai police chase criminals in a Bugatti Veyron 7

It’s no secret that people in Dubai really love supercars. Rich Sheik’s and powerful businessmen drive the city flat with their million dollar cars.

But it’s not only the rich people that like they’re cars fast and expensive; now the police force are also joining in on the game with the addition of their latest ‘cop car’, a Bugatti Veyron.

It seems almost insulting to call a Veyron a ‘cop car’, however, that is exactly what it is. The $1,6 million car is the perfect ride to catch criminals in a high-speed chase. I mean, it’s a Veyron… I seriously doubt that a criminal will be able to out run a car like that – unless the criminal himself is a fan of Bugatti!

The Veyron is simply an addition to the Dubai police force’s already impressive fleet of super cars. Other, ‘super cop cars’ include a Lamborghini Aventador, an Aston Martin One-77, a Mercedes SLS AMG, a Bentley Continental GT and a Ferrari FF – specifically for the female cops.

The Veyron will be fulfilling its duties as a patrol car in popular tourist spots. However, we’re pretty sure they got a Veyron to chase criminals, and not just for casual patrolling rides.

The Dubai Police also introduced their latest addition in a (epic) video. Check it out below:

Formula 1 introduces new engine 29

Formula 1 has recently introduced the new engine that will be used this year. And boy, it is really quite jaw-dropping!

The all new, turbocharged 1.6 liter V6 engine is also a hybrid-electric engine. This comes after the immense pressure that Formula 1 and all of it’s affiliates have been under recently to make the competition (including the cars, obviously) more ‘green’ and environmentally friendly.

However, this doesn’t mean that the new engine is wimpy. No ways, it is still one hell of a engine.

Even though F1 drivers had to downsize their engines from 2.4 liters to 1.6, this engine produces a mammoth 760 horsepower. In order to be more green, the engine also features a pair of energy recovery systems that pull form exhaust pressure and braking.

This, of course, is the green component that has been the topic of much debate (and praise) as of late.

Another thing to take into consideration, is that fact that the new engine will have to power Formula 1 cars. Now, these cars can weigh up to 500kilograms +. This means that it will power round about 1250horsepower per ton. Quite impressive.

So, who is looking forward to the 2014 season?!

Here is a little something to brighten up the start of your week.

If you could put your money on either a Lamborghini Aventador, a BMW M6 or a Porsche GT 3 wining a drag race, which one would it be? I know which horse I’d back…

Well, obviously we’re not really at a racing track but we can dream, can’t we? Recently, DragInfo posted a video on their YouTube channel of this exact scenario.

A Lamborghini Aventador, modified to have 730 horsepower taking on a PP performance tuned BMW M6 and, just for good measure, a 1000 horsepower Porsche GT 3 RS joins the party.

The Lambo takes on the BMW first, and, while the BMW takes the lead in the first second, the Aventador shows why it has once been labeled the fastest car in the world and trumps the BMW, making the mile-mark in 26.79 seconds. At 306 km/h!

After its impressive performance against the BMW, the Aventador then takes on the Porsche GT 3 RS. Keep in mind that the Porsche is sitting with a whopping 1000hp…

That’s all I’m saying for now. Check out the video below to see the final results:

The main man of all things cars, Chris Harris, is at the envy of us all once again. He recently got to test drive (and really drive, if you catch my drift) a Porsche 918 Spyder.

This hyper car produces a mammoth 608 horsepower and the engine alone weighs 140kg. Needless to say, this car is a beast.

So enough of the talking, lets get down to it. Check out the (typically Chris) video below. Enjoy!

Short film ad for the Porsche Panamera combines fire and ice 7

If there is one way to ensure you get the most out of your marketing budget, it is to have a competition involved somewhere, somehow. And that is exactly what Porsche did for their new Panamera.

In an effort to produce a sleek, beautiful and highly creative advertisement, Porsche invited ten filmmakers to produce a short film for the Panamera that would serve as its commercial.

The tagline read: “Thrilling Contradictions”, which meant these ten filmmakers had to come up with a film that revolves around breathtaking contradictions.

And what better and most primary contradiction is there than fire and ice? Well, Porsche thought it was a great idea, too because they picked Ross Cohen as the winner, with is film entitled: “Fire and Ice”.

According to Cohen and Porsche , the film shows us that “…[sic] the seemingly paradoxical can collide in beautiful and exhilarating fashion”

Cohen was very clever in his approach. Something rather simple in the fact that we have seen so many of it before, but with a certain twist that surely makes it Porsche worthy. The theme? An ice sculpture being made with a (very hot) blow torch. And yes, it is a sculpture of the Panamera that is vein made in the film.

A triumph for Porsche as well as for Cohen (he will be showcasing his film at the Chicago International Film Festival)

Check it out below, it really is beautiful:

Miami’s annual Art Basel event was held last week, and, instead of only featuring some of the most up-and-coming modern artists and their groundbreaking work – its also showcased the work of Alexander Mijares, and the pinnacle of his collection sure got our attention.

Proclaimed as ‘the highlight of his collection’, Mijares showcased this beautiful, unique and (very) striking hand-painted Lamborghini Gallardo.

Looking like something you’d see in a museum or a high-budget car movie, this Gallardo is a most beautiful electric blue, with intricate, hand painted grapics from it’s front to the rear.

It took Mijares quite some time to carefully cover the whole car, but the results are well worth the effort (and probable back pain).

Obviously, Mijares didn’t paint straight onto the car with his paint, I mean, you have to take into consideration that it is a Lamborghini…

335220

The car was first wrapped by Superior Auto design in Miami, before Mijares got his ver talented hands on it.

The hand-painting made this already unique car even more special, and we would jump at the opportunity to have it for ourselves.

Check out the video below on the whole painting process – it really is quite impressive!

Test Driver, Raffaele De Simone in a Ferrari 458 Speciale 3

This isn’t something you get to see everyday.

Ferrari’s test driver, Raffaele De Simone, recently did a video for Ferrari where he takes the viewers into his signature 458 Speciale for a ride around the track at Fiorano.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale is the track version of the 458 Italia and hence, is faster and produces more power. As De Simone takes the viewer for a virtual ride in the Speciale, he discusses some of the more important components of this very special car.

The best part of this video, however, is to see how nonchalant De Simone is about driving this beast (at a pretty high speed) around the track – whilst discussing it’s various components. A true testament to the incredible handling ability of the famous Ferrari test drivers.

Even if you are not a Ferrari fan, you will appreciate this man’s driving ability and the way he speaks about his beloved 458 Speciale.

Enjoy!
