It’s called the ‘Morning’ in South Korea. The fully-redesigned second generation 2012 Kia Picanto has been premiered at Geneva. Compared to the earlier models in the family, the new Picanto boasts of more cultured character and sports a bolder design.

To be rolled out as a five-door globally, and sportier three-door body for Europe, the 2012 Kia Picanto comes a charmer with an bolder front bumper, sweptback headlights, flame surfaced doors, side skirts, tail lights and a roof spoiler. Lovely design lines and sporty alloy wheels add to the Picanto charm.

A worthy contender in the sub-compact city car segment, the car will launch during the fag end of 2011 with four super-efficient engines, including a 1.0-liter three-cylinder, available in petrol, flex fuel and bi-fuel versions, as well as a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol.

The car maker says that the engines will return 69 (51 kW / 69 hp) to 85 PS (63 kW / 84 hp), while torque could be anything between 94 (69 lb-ft) to 121 Nm (89 lb-ft).

The 2012 Kia Picanto will also come with a 1.0-liter bi-fuel engine that would produce 82 PS (60 kW / 81 hp) and 94 Nm (69 lb-ft) of torque. The car will boast of CO2 emissions in the levels of 95 to 105 g/km or 90 and 100 g/km with the optional engine start/stop system.

Lotus Mini City Car Sounds Pretty Neat For its Class 27

We have known Lotus as one car maker that focuses on bringing out the best in light weight sports cars. The Paris Auto Show package was in fact testimony to Lotus’ plan which stressed on moving towards new concepts.

Lotus is now all set to launch its new car made specifically for the urban dwellers. Then new Mini concept is small, yet fast and it is supposed to be a blessing to the motorists in the busy crowded urban streets.

To come with advanced range-extended electric drivetrain with a single-speed transmission and an electric only range of roughly 40 miles, the car will also boast of a compact 3 cylinder engine. Pretty neat for a car of its class.

The new Mini car has been made by lotus in collaboration with parent company Proton. We hear three different variants of the car – a low-cost model for Asia, a regular one and a sportier version for the Western markets – are in the pipeline.

However, we hear that  the car will not be ready for roll out before 2014.

This is something interesting. The pictures we have are tempting, indeed. Kia Motors has announced that they will be unveiling the new all-electric city car concept ‘Pop’ at the Paris Motor Show next month. The zero-emission concept car follows last year’s Ray plug-in hybrid and the company’s announcement of the ambition to become a leading supplier of fuel-cell cars by 2015. Kia must be planning similar grand ideas for electrics and plug-ins.

The car which can seat three passengers, two up front and a third person who can sit behind (unlike the Gordon Murray T.25′s three-seater arrangement which has two passengers either side of the driver), is just around the same length as a Toyota IQ at about 3 meters. Additional information on the Kia Pop is expected to be released at the motor show which starts on September 30. We are just as eager as you are to know more about this cute looking Pop.
