Stylish 2019 Audi A7 Sportback Heading To Detroit For U.S. Debut 12

Audi is bringing the all-new 2019 A7 four-door coupe to the Detroit Auto Show to make its public debut on U.S. soil.

The second generation of the Audi A7 is heavily inspired by the design of the Prologue concept, featuring sculpted lines and large uninterrupted surfaces, as well as a sloping roofline.

Despite the latter, Audi claims that the new A7 offers more space and comfort for rear passengers than the outgoing model, with more room for both their heads and legs.

The new design language is also present in the cabin, with the dashboard featuring the latest MMI infotainment system that debuted with the A8, replacing all the traditional buttons and controls with a pair of large, high-definition touchscreen displays. Together with the Audi Virtual Cockpit, the interior of the new A7 wants to be one of the most high-tech cabins currently in the market.

Audi still hasn’t shared anything about the powertrains of the new US-spec A7, but we know that the new four-door coupe will come with the turbocharged 355hp 3.0-liter TFSI V6 paired to a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox and a Quattro all-wheel drive system. More powertrains will be available at the future, including plug-in hybrid versions.

Expect to hear more from the 2019 Audi A7 once the Detroit Auto Show opens its gates in three days.

2019 Audi A7 Designers Believe Their Brainchild Is The Bomb 12

We guess that all car designers are, understandably, proud of their work, no matter what the public thinks of it. However, the two people responsible for the looks of the all-new A7 Sportback feel they have created something truly special.

According to exterior designers Andreas Koglin and Sebastian Russo, some of the lines on the all-new A7, such as the low shoulder line or how it all comes together over the rear wheel arch, are new for Audi.

Moreover, they are especially happy with the horizontal light strip at the rear, which, Russo thinks, makes the A7 look like a UFO when viewed from behind, at a certain distance.

Another interesting design trait of the A7 is its fuel cap, which is actually cutting through one of the main design lines of the car, thus requiring some extra work from the engineering department due to its positioning.

From the get-go, Audi wanted to make sure that the new A7 Sportback would be more beautiful than its predecessor, as well as considerably sportier than the A8. Now, thanks to the sleek styling, not to mention the wide grille that’s also positioned lower than on the A8 for a more aggressive look, both goals appear to have been achieved.

Leaky Fuel Lines Prompt The Recall Of 50,000 Audi A6s And A7s 24

Do you drive an Audi A6 or A7? Be careful, because it could spring a fuel leak.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of nearly 50,000 of them from the 2012-14 model years for just that reason.

The problem comes down to a compression point in the fuel line, which could weaken, potentially resulting in a leak. And since leaking fuel could start a fire, the issue is apparently being taken seriously.

The issue is restricted to models equipped with the 3.0 TFSI engine, so owners of models otherwise motivated needn’t worry. The manufacturer estimates 48,693 vehicles will be affected in the United States alone.

They’ll each need to have their fuel lines replaced in a recall campaign expected to get underway on February 5. So if you have one in your driveway, you can expect to hear from Audi between now and then so you can arrange to bring your car in for service.

Four New Audi Models Coming By Mid-2018, Compact EV Due In 2020 28
Jul
Posted by Michael Gauthier in audi, Audi A1, Audi A6, Audi A7, Audi A8, Audi Q3, Audi Q8 on 07 28th, 2017

Audi Chairman Rupert Stadler has confirmed the company will launch at least four models by the middle of next year.

During the company’s interim financial report, Stadler said “By the middle of 2018, we will present new generations of four more core model series. In addition, we will expand our product offering in the top segments next year with the Audi Q8 and the fully electric Audi e-tron.”

The company was tight-lipped on specifics but confirmed the A6 and A7 Sportback will be launched early next year. The other two models remain unconfirmed but previous reports have suggested they could be the new A1 and Q3.

Stadler went on to reconfirm plans to launch the e-tron in 2018 and the e-tron Sportback in 2019. However, he also revealed the company will offer a “premium electric car in the compact segment” beginning in 2020. Little is known about the model but it could potentially be a Tesla Model 3 competitor.

Besides talking about the new models, Stadler confirmed the A8’s Level 3 autonomous driving system will be activated early next year. As he explained, “As soon as the legal framework permits it, we will gradually bring the new piloted driving functions into series production beginning in 2018.”
