The Hyundai i30 N was revealed last summer and the sporty hatchback has received praise from a lot of automotive outlets. Carwow recently likened the hatchback to being a more-affordable Volkswagen Golf GTI. That's high praise indeed, as the Golf has been the benchmark of the segment for a long time. Now, Autocar took the hatchback to a racetrack and it, too, really liked the car.

New Hyundai Veloster N Focuses On Ford’s ST With 275 Horses 15

The second product coming from Hyundai N, after the i30 N, is the performance variant of the new Veloster that was presented today at the Detroit Auto Show.

It uses the same engine as the hot hatch, a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that boasts 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet (353Nm) of torque, and works together with a six-speed stick shift.

Hyundai haven’t released any performance specs yet, but it’s clear that the new Veloster N should come pretty close to the i30 N’s 0-62mph (100km/h), which takes 6.1sec in its range-topping form.

The new Hyundai Veloster N should be pretty fun to drive on a twisty road, as it gets optimized geometry for linear torque build up and corner-exit precision, decreased roll angle, unobtrusive rear strut brace that reinforces the rear multi-link suspension mounting points, and a special track-focused N driving mode.

An electronically controlled limited-slip differential improves the grip furthermore, whereas stopping power comes from 13-inch front and 11.8-inch rear brake discs, with 13.6-inch front and 12.4-inch rear ones available.

Looking at the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N from the outside reveals chunkier front and rear bumpers, different grille and side skirts, roof-mounted spoiler, and rear diffuser that houses the dual exhaust pipes.

Buyers will be able to choose between four exterior colors in the United States, called Ultra Black, Chalk White, Racing Red, and N-exclusive Performance Blue, alongside 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 225/40 Michelin Pilot SuperSport or 234/35 Pirelli P-Zero rubber, respectively.

Exclusive front sport seats, special steering wheel and shift knob, N-logo door sill plates, N-design instrument cluster, and blue accent theme remind users of the car’s sporty character inside.

Hyundai will launch the 2019 Veloster N in the United States in the fourth quarter of the year, and all cars will be assembled in Ulsan, Korea, from September 2018.

Make Your Hyundai i30N Feel-Faster With New “N-thusiast” Goodies 30
Posted by Michael Karkafiris in ESSEN Show, Hyundai, Hyundai i30, Hyundai N, Reports on 11 30th, 2017

Want to make your Hyundai i30N more hardcore? Hyundai has you covered with its new “N-thusiast Parts”.

These official aftermarket components will become available from January 2018 and include wheels, brakes, seats and other designed to make the Hyundai i30N even faster on a track and more enjoyable for the keen driver.

A set of lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels from OZ Racing measuring 8.0×19 inches brings a weight saving of about 4kg per corner compared to the standard wheel. The wheels also feature a carbon-fiber hub cover with the Hyundai N logo and are priced at 1,916 euros in Germany.

The lighter wheels can be shod in sticky 235/35 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Rs, with the price of the complete wheel set sitting at 3,100 euros. Next up in the range we have a set of motosport-derived precision-machined aluminum wheel nuts and a three-way adjustable rear stabilizer bar.

The N-Thusiast parts catalog also includes special motorsport brake pads for the i30N Performance, which comes with larger brakes as standard. These brake pads are sold for both the front and the rear axle and are priced at 349 euros for each set.

Owners of the Hyundai i30N can also opt for the lightweight hard-shell racing seats, developed in conjunction with Recaro. The one-piece seats come finished in black leather and weigh just 7kg each. Standard 3-point belts can still be used comfortably, but the seats also allow the use of six-point harnesses for track use.

Other parts include decals inspired from the i30 TCR touring car, high-quality velor floor mats and more.

The official reveal of the new Hyundai N-Thusiast Parts will take place at the upcoming Essen Motor Show.

Thanks to Mario for the tip!

Hyundai’s Upcoming Veloster N Might Look Very Nice Indeed 18
Posted by Brad Anderson in Hyundai, Hyundai N, Hyundai Veloster, Renderings, Reports on 11 18th, 2017

Not a company to rest on its laurels, Hyundai is hard at work developing the second model in its range of N-performance models.

Based on the eye-catching Veloster, the new model is expected to share some of its components with the exciting i30 N. However, thanks to the sleeker design of the Veloster, the new N model could actually be the better looking of the two.

As this rendering from KKS Studio shows, the Veloster N will benefit from a selection of eye-catching modifications, including a much larger and more aggressive front grille. Additionally, recent spy shots have displayed revised air intakes, also included in this rendering. Final exterior changes include performance brakes, N-branded wheels, extended side skirts and a roof-mounted rear wing, along with two large tailpipes.

It remains to be seen if Hyundai will opt to make the top version of its quirky little coupe even more capable than the i30 N. Whatever it decides, it’s safe to assume that the hot hatchback’s engine, delivering 246 hp in standard guise and 271 hp with the Performance Package, should find its way into the Veloster N, potentially with more grunt.
