Which Jaguar Should Get The SVR Treatment Next? 25

Between the luxed-out SVAutobiography models, the hardcore SVX off-roaders, the special projects, and the continuation classics, the folks over at Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations have been keeping plenty busy. We just can’t help but wonder when the next performance-oriented SVR model will come out, and what it’ll be based on.

To date, JLR SVO has only applied the go-fast SVR treatment to the F-Type and the Range Rover Sport. We know there’ll be more to come, but we’re glad to see (and bring to you) rendering artists like Nikita Aksyonov filling in the blanks.

These latest three projects by the Russian designer propose SVR versions of three Jaguar models: the XF, the XJ, and the E-Pace. And they all look pretty enticing.

As to which is more likely to actually roll out of a Jaguar factory, we’re expecting the F-Pace SVR to come first. But after that, the XF seems the most probable. After all, the previous XF yielded the supremely capable XFR-S, and we’ve yet to see a high-output version of the new model to take on the likes of the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63. If and when we do, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it looking a lot like this.

Can The Jaguar E-Pace Scare The Premium Compact SUV Establishment? 25

Despite the ‘E’ prefix added to its name, the Jaguar E-Pace is not electric, but smaller than the F-Pace, the brand’s first-ever SUV, hence the ‘E’ prefix.

Jaguar’s rival to the ikes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA, the compact SUV shares its underpinnings with the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport, and can be had with all-wheel drive.

Its exterior design is eye-catching, and it could very well be the best-looking vehicle in class, according to Autocar’s Matt Prior, who also appreciated the ‘Jag-feel’ inside, rear legroom, and lots of storage spaces, things that the automaker tends to bring forward when discussing the E-Pace.

However, the interior build quality is not on par with its rivals, and there is some road and wind noise coming into the cockpit at certain times. Also, don’t expect it to drive like a Jaguar saloon, because you’ll be disappointed. However, if you could go around its flaws, you’ll find a good ride quality and a handling that’s not too bad.

So, is the Jaguar E-Pace worth looking into when shopping for a new premium subcompact SUV? Click on the video below and find out.

New Jaguar E-Pace Isn’t Perfect But Does It Matter? 22

Following the commercial success of the F-Pace, Jaguar is expanding its SUV range with the addition of the E-Pace, a smaller crossover designed to rival cars like the BMW X1 and the Mercedes GLA.

The British car maker wants the new E-Pace to become the benchmark in terms of handling in its class and of course design. Inspiration was clearly drawn by the F-Type in a bid to make the new compact crossover a Jaguar worthy of the name, both inside and out.

The underpinnings though are shared with the Range Rover Evoque, with Jaguar making the necessary alterations to things like suspension geometry in order for the E-Pace to offer a different, more engaging character.

All engines measure 2.0 liters in capacity and four cylinders, with Euro-spec cars getting three power options for the diesel unit (148hp, 178hp and 237hp) and two for the petrol one (246hp and a range-topping 296hp). Jaguar will offer the E-Pace in both front- and all-wheel drive versions.

So it looks good, there are plenty of options in the range and has a Jaguar badge on it but can the E-Pace mix all those things well enough to become a solid player in the segment? Auto Express delivers its verdict, so let’s find out.
