Hennessey Hustles The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk To 175 MPH 9

In between developing the promised world-beating Venom F5 hypercar and Ford VelociRaptor 6×6, John Hennessey recently jumped behind the wheel of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to see just how fast the super-SUV is.

Off the line, we recently saw a stock Trackhawk demolish a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in a scene that would’ve inevitably upset many Challenger fan-boys. Now we know just how fast the Trackhawk can go in a straight line.

Jeep asserts that the Trackhawk is capable of hitting 180 mph (289 km/h) and when behind the wheel, Hennessey was able to take the SUV up to 175 mph (281 km/h), as indicated on the speedometer.

Although the ultimate Jeep fell somewhat short of the automaker’s claim, 175 mph in an SUV of this size is an extraordinary feat.

For those that want to go even faster, Hennessey will soon have the answer, recently confirming that it’ll offer a tuning package with 1012 hp and 969 lb-ft (1,313 Nm) of torque on tap.

Jeep Driver Spins On Black Ice, Somehow Avoids Hitting Anything! 7

Because black ice is pretty much invisible to drivers it is extremely dangerous, as the person behind the wheel of this red Jeep Grand Cherokee found out.

Normally, people who lose control of their vehicles tend to consider themselves unlucky. In this case though, spinning like that without leaving the road or impacting other cars was actually pretty fortunate.

From what we can tell, as the Jeep crossed over in front of the dashcam car, its driver had already the brakes, which tends to make matters worse when you’re driving on slippery surfaces. Anyway, the SUV spun around 360-degrees twice before the driver managed to regain some sort of control, gently sliding the car back towards the first lane, and continuing on their journey.

According to the description, the incident occurred on New Year’s Eve in Abilene, Texas, where temperatures have dipped below freezing a few times in recent weeks.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Wipes The Floor With Challenger Hellcat 29

When the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was released, it quickly became the king of the drag strip, frequently out-accelerating much more expensive sports cars and supercars. Soon, high-performance versions of the Tesla Model S came along and the Hellcat’s reign was over.

Fast forward to the end of 2017 and it is no longer the sleek, two-door Challenger Hellcat that is the quickest vehicle in the FCA family. As a matter of fact, the Hellcat has now been surpassed not just by the Demon, but also the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

Powering both the Challenger Hellcat and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 707 hp.

However, whereas the Hellcat struggles to put all that muscle to the ground, the all-wheel drive system of the Trackhawk makes it far superior in a straight line. To show just how big the performance gap is, Hennessey Performance pitted the duo together and the Trackhawk left the Hellcat Widebody in its wake.

While Hellcat owners may be disgruntled that a Jeep is significantly quicker than their muscle car, SUV enthusiasts will be enthusiastically celebrating. We wouldn’t blame either of them.

Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Races Challenger Hellcat In Forza Motorsport 7 23

According to the people who deal in algorithms and virtual physics and developed the Forza Motorsport 7 game, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is no pushover when it comes to drag racing a Challenger Hellcat.

Also, thanks to the user who goes by the nickname Ericship111, we now have a pretty good idea regarding who would win in a virtual fight between the world’s most powerful SUV and the mighty Hellcat, at least in Forza’s world.

This straight line race takes place over a distance of one mile (1.6 km), which means that you not only need to get off the line quickly, but also have sufficient power to keep your opponent at bay at high speed.

Let’s run some numbers, shall we? For starters, both opponents pack the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 707 HP and 645 lb-ft (874 Nm) of torque. Jeep says the Trackhawk will hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, which is very similar to what the Challenger Hellcat can do, and while the Dodge is lighter, the Jeep has all-wheel drive that may, or may not, help it in getting off the line faster.

Therefore, the result of this race is unpredictable, even in a video game. We obviously won’t tell you who won, but we will say that you’ll want to pay close attention to the finish line.

The Front Fender Vents On The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Serve A Unique Purpose 22

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL has an evolutionary design which is instantly recognizable but the company also made several design tweaks to ensure consumers could tell the difference between it and the outgoing Wrangler JK.

One of the more noticeable styling changes is the addition of front fender vents. While these are typically added for engine cooling or styling purposes, the vents serve a unique function on the latest Wrangler.

According to Fox News, the vents where added to the vehicle to eliminate the “hood flutter” from previous models. When older Wranglers were traveling at high speeds, air would enter the grille and build up pressure underneath the hood. This would cause the hood to bounce and vibrate which is annoying to say the least.

The front fender vents eliminate this problem as they allow air to easily exit the engine compartment. Jeep also installed new hood latches which more securely hold the hood in place.

The 2018 Wrangler starts at $26,995 and features a 3.6-liter V6 engine which produces 285 hp (212 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to either a six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission that costs an outrageous $2,000.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Is Still An Off-Road Animal, Only Easier To Live With 17

The new generation Jeep Wrangler promises to be better than its predecessor in every single aspect, and now it’s time to find out if it delivers the goods.

It took Jeep 11 years to replace the outgoing JK model with the new JL. The automaker’s latest off-roader may look too similar with the previous one for some, but fans will recognize the new one more easily.

The 2018 Wrangler will be offered with the 285hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 paired to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. A 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 268hp is also making its debut, while Jeep will add a 3.0-liter diesel in the range later on.

If you want the most off-road capable version, then you’ll have to go for the Rubicon, as it features 33-inch off-road tires, disconnecting anti-roll bars, a modular front bumper and Dana 44 axles, among others.

Is the new Wrangler worthy of its iconic nameplate? Edmunds delivers its first driving impressions on the video linked below.

Is The 707HP Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk As Insane As The Figures Suggest? 16
Dec
Posted by Brad Anderson in Hellcat, Jeep, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Videos, SUV, video on 12 16th, 2017

The Jeep brand is perhaps the most successful carmaker under the FCA group umbrella, and after watching Doug DeMuro’s review of the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, you may start to understand why.

Jeep introduced the model earlier this year on the back of demand for an SUV powered by the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 of the Challenger and Charger Hellcat models. With an identical 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque, the Trackhawk can rocket from a standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a mere 3.5 seconds and complete the quarter mile in just 11.6 seconds at 116 mph.

On a drag strip, the Trackhawk will, most likely, humble lots of rivals. However, is it actually useable on the street?

According to DeMuro, the answer is yes. On paper, one could think that the Trackhawk’s crazy figures would make it a one-trick pony. However, the fact that the Trackhawk is essentially just a Grand Cherokee with a bigger engine and larger brakes means it retains all the practicality of lesser variants, including the 7,200 lbs towing capacity of the Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Perhaps the only downside of the Trackhawk is its fairly hefty $86,995 price tag, but considering that it’s the most powerful production SUV on the market, trumping even Lambo’s Urus, you may eventually end up calling it a bargain.

Get An In-Depth Tour Of The 2018 Jeep Wrangler 7

Jeep unveiled the 2018 Wrangler last week at the LA Auto Show and Redline Reviews were able to get up close and personal with the new off-roader, highlighting all of its important features and nuances in the video below.

Unquestionably our favorite 2018 Wrangler variant announced at the event is the two-door Rubicon, available with a plethora of unique body components that are sure to make it an absolute riot when off-roading.

For starters, Jeep has developed optional doors with large cut-outs in them, allowing drivers to look for rocks when driving. Additionally, the entire roof can be removed, as can the side windows. Heck, owners will even be able to lower the windshield by removing just four bolts. It then sits gently on rubberized mats on the hood and offers drivers a true open-air experience.

Another noteworthy feature of the Wrangler Rubicon are 33-inch tires and 17-inch wheels as standard. If that’s not enough, Jeep has also designed the off-roader to support 35-inch tires and a 2-inch lift kit.

From launch, the 2018 Wrangler will be available with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the Alfa Romeo Giulia. The V6 is offered with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a six-speed manual while the four-cylinder comes exclusively with the eight-speed.

In the coming years, both a 3.0-liter diesel and plug-in hybrid will be added to the powertrain range.

Cops Need Your Help Identifying Jeep Driver Who Smashed Into Arrow Board 5

Police in Massachusetts are on the hunt for a man that was filmed crashing into an arrow board in Route 73 Tunnel.

Cameras inside the tunnel failed to capture the exact moment the Jeep Wrangler slammed into the arrow board but they do show the arrow board tumbling down the road and the Wrangler screeching to a halt after the impact.

Inevitably, local authorities aren’t thrilled about the man damaging property and then leaving the scene. However, that’s not the only reason they’re seeking his identity.

During the clip, the man can be seen throwing a small black bag to the side of the tunnel, before jumping back in the Jeep and making a run for it.

Police have yet to disclose what was in the bag but are asking for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who recognizes the Jeep or driver, to come forward.

The Jeep Wrangler Has Changed More Since WWII Than You Might Think 14

Cars and trucks change over time. Such is the relentless march of progress in the automotive industry especially. But some change more than others.

We might tend to think of the Jeep Wrangler (and its forebears) as having remained pretty consistent over the years, and in many ways it can. But watching this latest clip, we were struck by just how much it’s changed.

The animated video is the latest in Donut Media’s Evolution series, which has recently profiled everything from the Honda Civic and Nissan Skyline to the Porsche 911 and BMW 3 Series.

This time the focus is on Jeep’s most iconic model line – a timely release considering that the all-American off-road brand is just now rolling out an all-new Wrangler that’s poised to carry the line into a more advanced, more economical future.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Interior Revealed Ahead Of LA Debut [w/Video] 8

Jeep’s all-new 2018 Wrangler is one of the most eagerly anticipated cars of the year, and with the LA Auto Show just weeks away, we’re inching closer to learning everything we need to know about it.

These images show an interior design that combines traditional styling with new technologies, as the 2018 Wrangler will surely pack more safety features and connectivity options than ever before.

FCA tells us to also expect improved versatility, more high-quality materials and better overall comfort for drivers and passengers. For example, leather with contrast stitching on top of the dashboard wasn’t something Wrangler owners previously expected from their cars.

The overall design of the cabin has also been changed, even though it remains instantly recognizable as Wrangler-ish. The steering wheel is an evolution of the one found on the previous model, whereas the center console now features a larger screen flanked by two air vents. On the old car, the vents were positioned below the sat-nav display and the climate control switches looked like they belonged on something from the early 2000s. Now, everything looks more modern.

There’s also a display between the two main gauges, plus a lot more buttons and switches for taking your Wrangler off-road – something purists will certainly appreciate.

The rest of the car, we’ve already seen. It still features the keystone-shaped grille, round headlights, square taillights, better aerodynamics, a fold-down windshield and lots of customization options.

Jeep will release more images as well as complete vehicle info on November 29th, at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
