Oettinger Built This One-Off VW Golf 400R Police Car 31

Arguably more than most countries, the police in Germany need pursuit vehicles capable of chasing down monstrously fast and powerful vehicles down unrestricted stretches of autobahn. The trouble is that it doesn’t have the budget to buy fleets of Porsche 911s and Mercedes-AMG GTs. So what to do?

Here’s Oettinger’s answer. It’s a one-of-a-kind Volkswagen Golf R that was unveiled a few weeks back at the Essen Motor Show, decked out in police livery with special equipment.

That includes the flashing lights on the roof and in the air dam, and a foil wrap in blue, white, and neon yellow, emblazoned with the word “Polizei.”

It also includes a full aero kit, complete with front sp;itter, side skirts, rear apron, and roof spoiler. The hood is custom as well, there’s a four-pipe exhaust system with 90-mm tailpipes, and the whole thing rides on a set of 20-inch alloys wrapped in low-profile Hanhook rubber.

The real long arm of the law in this case, though, is what you can’t see: Oettinger has tuned the 2.0-liter turbo four from the standard 310 horsepower to a more prodigious 400, giving it a 0-62 time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph.

That’s mighty fast – for a Golf especially – but don’t expect to see one of these patrolling the autobahn anytime soon. The concept car was created as part of the Tune It! Safe! campaign, supported by the federal transport ministry and by industry members.

Ask TechArt what they could do for your Porsche 718 Boxster or Cayman and you’ll probably hear all about the body kit, the carbon fiber package, the custom wheels or the personalized interior.

Now, however, you can also opt for the newly available TechArt front axle lift system, which will help your 718 model clear common obstacles such as ramps, speed humps and curbs at the push of a button.

The nose lift package gives you an extra 60 mm (2.3 inches) of additional ground clearance and includes the two front axle sport springs, two for the rear, two hydraulic cylinders, a hydraulic unit, the installation kit and assembly instructions.

The tuning company has also launched a power kit for the 718’s 2.5-liter flat-four, adding 50 extra horses together with 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) over the stock car, for a total of 400 PS (394 HP) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque.

A TechArt-modified 718 Cayman S featuring both the power kit as well as the lift system will be on display at the Essen Motor Show until December 10th.

Coinciding with the start of the 2017 Essen Motor Show, Ford has presented various parts that enhance the look, sound, and driving attributes of their performance models.

Developed together with specialists such as Borla, KW, Remus, and Roush, they’re available to order across Europe from December 1 for the Focus ST, RS, and Mustang models.

Adjustable coilover strut and shock absorbers, with up to 40mm (1.57in) reduction in ride height are part of the offerings, along with light alloy wheels that offer up to 15 percent in weight reduction, and high-grade stainless steel exhaust systems in road-legal and track-only versions.

The entire Ford Performance range can also be equipped with a special gearshift knob selection, with carbon fiber and unique short-shift gear linkage for the Mustang six-speed manual, which is said to reduce gearshift travel by 20 percent.

Offered in three stages for the Mustang’s 5.0-liter V8 engine are the Performance Calibration Power Packs, capable of boosting the unit’s rev limit to up to 7,500rpm. The powertrain can also be fitted with a supercharger kit, from Roush Performance, which is compatible with both six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes, and boosts power to over 600PS (592hp).

Presented for the first time in Europe is the Ford Performance Drift Stick Concept. Developed and designed for the Focus RS, and approved by Ken Block, this is a rally-inspired electronic handbrake, which uses the car’s Drift Mode to deliver clutch-free drift turns, similar to those of a real rally car.

TechArt will present its new package for the latest Porsche 911 GT3 at the Essen Motor Show.

If you’re wondering how someone could improve a modern performance icon like the 911 GT3, learn that TechArt’s new Carbon Sport Package is basically a body kit, leaving the oily bits unchanged.

The new package consists of a lightweight front bonnet that features an integrated air outlet, a front spoiler complete with air blades, winglets, side skirts, a rear wing profile, ram-air scoops and a rear diffuser made out of carbon fiber. These parts are designed to replace the original ones or enhance them in the case of the trim pieces.

TechArt is also making available for the latest Porsche 911 GT3 its center-locking Formula IV Race 20-inch forged wheels, which can be specified in every way possible, including color-matched to the brake calipers or the interior decorative stitching.

The interior can also be brought to the owner’s exact taste as TechArt offers tons of options and materials to choose from, such as carbon fiber, leather, Alcantara or lacquered surfaces. TechArt’s interior program includes things like color-matched instrument gauges, personalized illuminated door entry guards and much more.

The tuner’s Type-7 steering wheel can be combined with Alcantara, leather and painted surfaces, offering a 360mm rim and retaining all the factory features such as multifunction controls, paddle shifts and steering wheel heating.

Posted by Michael Karkafiris in ESSEN Show, Hyundai, Hyundai i30, Hyundai N, Reports on 11 30th, 2017

Want to make your Hyundai i30N more hardcore? Hyundai has you covered with its new “N-thusiast Parts”.

These official aftermarket components will become available from January 2018 and include wheels, brakes, seats and other designed to make the Hyundai i30N even faster on a track and more enjoyable for the keen driver.

A set of lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels from OZ Racing measuring 8.0×19 inches brings a weight saving of about 4kg per corner compared to the standard wheel. The wheels also feature a carbon-fiber hub cover with the Hyundai N logo and are priced at 1,916 euros in Germany.

The lighter wheels can be shod in sticky 235/35 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Rs, with the price of the complete wheel set sitting at 3,100 euros. Next up in the range we have a set of motosport-derived precision-machined aluminum wheel nuts and a three-way adjustable rear stabilizer bar.

The N-Thusiast parts catalog also includes special motorsport brake pads for the i30N Performance, which comes with larger brakes as standard. These brake pads are sold for both the front and the rear axle and are priced at 349 euros for each set.

Owners of the Hyundai i30N can also opt for the lightweight hard-shell racing seats, developed in conjunction with Recaro. The one-piece seats come finished in black leather and weigh just 7kg each. Standard 3-point belts can still be used comfortably, but the seats also allow the use of six-point harnesses for track use.

Other parts include decals inspired from the i30 TCR touring car, high-quality velor floor mats and more.

The official reveal of the new Hyundai N-Thusiast Parts will take place at the upcoming Essen Motor Show.

ABT Announces World Premiers For 2017 Essen Motor Show 30
Nov
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in ABT, audi, audi rs3, Audi SQ7, ESSEN Show, Galleries, tuning, VW, VW Golf R on 11 30th, 2017

With this year’s Essen Motor Show about to have its preview day on Friday, December 1st, ABT Sportsline has prepared a few treats for all car enthusiasts to enjoy.

Not only will they be presenting a 500 PS RS3, but a ‘1 of 10’ SQ7 SUV will also be on deck, as will the tuner’s Golf VII R, boasting 400 PS of its own.

Furthermore, the ABT Power Monitor, which provides a live overview of the power boost, among many other features, is also making its world premiere at Germany’s largest annual vehicle exhibition, now having its 50th anniversary.

Now let’s talking about the cars. With the RS3, the tuning package costs €16,900 ($20k), and the price for the complete vehicle is €74,390 ($88,500). All that money gets you a 500 PS (493 HP) engine, custom springs, anti-roll bars, brake upgrade kit and a special damper setup.

Not only does ABT’s RS3 supposedly ride and handle great, it also sounds more aggressive thanks to the tuner’s exhaust system, featuring two 102 mm (4 in) double pipes painted matte black. As for its aesthetics, ABT added a front skirt add-on, a grille add-on, a rear skirt set and quite a few touches to the interior as well.

Moving on to the ABT Vossen SQ7 ‘1 of 10’, this project came to life when the two aftermarket companies joined forces to create a very limited edition Audi SUV. It comes with 520 PS (512 HP) and 970 Nm (715 lb-ft) of torque, and can also sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds.

When it’s not busy doing things in a straight line, the ABT Vossen SQ7 will gladly show off its wide body package consisting of a front skirt, fender extensions, door strip attachments and a rear skirt add-on with carbon pipes. Also available are the rear wing and fender inserts, while additional carbon fiber bits can be found on the grille, front lip and even on the doors. Inside, there’s plenty of carbon fiber, a “1/10” badge on the dashboard and door sills, and seats that have been bolstered by Alcantara inlays and ABT logos.

Now, what Vossen did to the SQ7 was to add split five-spoke 10×22″ wheels, polished with a brushed face in ‘Stealth Grey’. As for the price, the package costs €54,900 ($65,300), and the complete vehicle is €147,790 ($175,858). Oh and the Night Blue matte metallic wrap is another €4,690 ($5,580) on top of everything else.

Finally, we have the least powerful car here, which is the 400 PS (394 HP) ABT Golf VII R, also putting down a hefty 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to ABT’s optional sprints, the car has been lowered by 20 mm (0.7 in) at the front and 25 mm (0.9 in) at the rear, although if you get the tuner’s height-adjustable suspension kit, you can lower the front axle by as much as 40 mm (1.57 in), and the rear by 45 mm (1.77 in).

Other mods include a custom rear muffler with 102 mm (4 in) outlets, custom alloys, side skirts and a tailgate add-on.

Posted by Michael Gauthier in ABT, audi, audi a3, audi rs3, ESSEN Show, tuning on 11 9th, 2017

ABT Sportsline has unveiled its latest tuning program for the Audi RS3 Sedan and RS3 Sportback.

Set to debut at the Essen Motor Show, the models can be equipped with an assortment of different styling accessories including front fender vents, a revised grille, and 19- or 20-inch wheels. Customers can also order a gloss black rear skirt and a sports exhaust system with a matte black finish.

The company didn’t release interior photos but the cabin can be outfitted with carbon fiber trim, special floor mats, and illuminated door sill plates. Other options include an ABT-branded shifter and push-button ignition.

On the performance front, the turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine can be equipped with a new ECU which enables the mill to produce approximately 460 PS (338 kW) and 530 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque – an increase of 60 PS (44 kW) and 50 Nm (36 lb-ft). ABT declined to say how fast the upgraded model is but the change increases the limited top speed to 280 km/h (174 mph).

Besides the upgraded engine, the RS3 can be outfitted with sport springs, new anti-roll bars, and a more powerful braking system.
