BMW Opens More Dedicated M Showrooms As Range Expands 13
Jan
Posted by Carscoops Staff in BMW, BMW M, Dealers, Reports, Singapore on 01 13th, 2018

BMW offers more M models today than it ever has before, and you can get them from any of its dealers, but for a truly special experience, you’ll want to head to a dedicated M showroom.

Out of the 4,400 or so BMW dealers in 150 countries around the world, only 850 (or roughly one fifth) are specially set up to sell the performance models. That’s double the number compared to four years ago.

The latest, which is pictured here, is Performance Munich Autos, a dealership in Singapore with a dedicated showroom and service facility just for BMW M and BMW M Performance models.

The showroom covers 4,500 square meters (48,000 square feet) and, in addition to displaying models available for purchase, has a dedicated Individual Lounge for special orders and a multimedia Delivery Suite where the vehicles are handed over under spotlights and driven right out of the showroom.

“The new showroom reflects the dynamic character of the BMW M brand and fulfills the wish of many customers for an exclusive retail experience,” said Paul de Courtois, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia.

2017’s year-end numbers are still being tallied, but in 2016 the Bavarian automaker sold 67,900 M and M Performance vehicles and had already beaten that number last November. The lineup, depending on the market, includes the M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, X5 M, and X6 M, as well as the M140i, M240i, M550i, M550d, M760Li, X3 M40i, X4 M40i, X5 M50d, and X6 M50d. That’s a heck of a model range, with some offering multiple body-styles, and it only stands to grow further in the future.

The World’s First Dedicated Genesis Showroom Goes All Gangnam Style 8

Posted by Carscoops Staff in Dealers, Genesis, Korea on 01 8th, 2018

Launching new vehicles is complicated enough. Launching an entirely new brand is another matter entirely. But that’s the process in which Hyundai finds itself right now with its Genesis brand.

It’s already revealed the new G90, G80, and G70, and will have many more to come. But now it needs the showrooms in which to sell them. And this is what they’ll look like.

What you see here is the first dedicated Genesis showroom, which the automaker itself will open in June in the swanky Gangnam district of Seoul. With 14,000 square feet of floor space, the two-story facility ought to serve as the blueprint for the dealerships it’ll franchise around the world in the coming months and years.

So what does it entail? For starters, it’s not all glass. Hyundai has gone for a more intimate environment: “a private and personal setting that enhances the interaction between the customer and the product.”

The vehicles are on display, of course, and there are further displays showing the colors and interior options available for order. There’s also a “Launch Bay” that serves as the starting point for test drives, with an augmented/virtual reality guide to help drivers embark on five different test routes around the South Korean capital: Urban Green, Urban Highway, Dynamic, K-Road, and Short Course.

The whole space is bathed in soft ambient light panels (instead of glare-inducing spotlights), perfumed with the brand’s signature scent and serenaded by its signature sound – which, we gather, is not that infuriatingly catchy K-pop song that was all the rage a few years back.

“The Genesis brand is a promise – a promise of a new way of automotive luxury,” said brand chief Manfred Fitzgerald. “Genesis Gangnam is the physical embodiment of that promise and how we serve our clientele. Customer experience is vital and we will now work on a global scale to bring many of the aspects of our brand’s flagship store to customers around the world.”

Porsche Has Opened Its 100th Showroom In China 2
Jan
Posted by Carscoops Staff in china, Dealers, porsche, Reports on 01 2nd, 2018

If you had to guess which country is Porsche’s biggest market, what would it be? Germany? The United States? Guess again: it’s China – which makes sense, as it’s also the world’s number one car market.

The German automaker has just opened its 100th showroom in the Asian country, but it’s not a traditional dealership. Billed as a “Porsche Studio,” the location is situated within an upscale shopping mall in Guangzhou, a city whose metropolitan area is more than twice as populous as Beijing.

“In recent years, China has become Porsche’s largest single market”, says the company’s global sales and marketing chief Detlev von Platen. “Our four-door sports cars are especially popular in Asia, but demand for our two-seater models is also increasing rapidly.” Porsche delivered over 5,000 Boxsters and Caymans from the 718 line in China over over the course of the past year, more than any other country in the world.

Little wonder, then, that the automaker is so keen to cater to the Chinese market with the opening of the new Porsche Studio Guangzhou. The space covers nearly 5,000 square feet, and includes the display of all five model lines Porsche offers, along with iPad-based configurators. Though the location – run by the manufacturer – is not a dealership, per se, it does have sales representatives on site from a nearby dealer.

To further accommodate local buyers, the company is also opening another of its Porsche Experience Centres in Shanghai. Similar to those it runs in Atlanta, LA, Leipzig, Silverstone, and Le Mans, the latest facility will allow customers to drive on track and even off-road.

“Although we live in a digital age, the ability to offer a true driving experience has not lost any of its significance for Porsche – quite the opposite in fact,” said von Platen. “Our experience centres in Europe and America are an important part of our sales landscape. Opening another site in Asia is a logical step given the increasing importance of this market region.”

Baseball All-Star Leaves The Pitcher’s Mound For Supercar Dealership 31

Professional athletes tend to have a short career, leaving a long “retirement” to fill. Some move on to team or talent management, but not CJ Wilson.

The former All-Star pitcher owns a chain of automotive dealerships. Three of them deal in Mazdas: two in Illinois and one in California. But his dealership in Arizona deals in British supercars, and it’s just added another line.

Alongside McLarens, the Scottsdale dealership will now be selling the BAC Mono as well. In fact it will be the first location to receive the updated 2018 model of the single-seat exotic – five of them, to be specific, each of which is available for sale.

“It’s with great pleasure that I can declare BAC Scottsdale officially open for business,” said Wilson. “When I first got into the Mono cockpit, I was absolutely blown away – it provides the ultimate experience for any driving purist, with unrivalled levels of accessibility, pace and poise.”

The left-handed pitcher played for the Texas Rangers from 2005-2011 and for the LA Angels until 2015. He twice pitched in the MLB All-Star Game, but has since taken to cars. He’s been known to drive Porsches and a custom McLaren P1, and competed in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill and in Mazda MX-5 club races.

That’s him driving the Mono at the Inde Motorsports Ranch in the video below. We don’t know about the Mazdas, but if you’re fortunate enough to buy a new McLaren or BAC Mono from his Scottsdale dealership, you just might get a photo or an autograph to go with it.

Visiting Germany? Check Out Brabus’ New Flagship Showroom In Düsseldorf 27
Dec

Automotive enthusiasts have lots to do and see in Germany: blast down the autobahn, muscle around the Nürburgring, tour the automakers’ factories and museums. Now we can add one more to the list: visit the new Brabus showroom.

In fact 10,000 people have already done just that – not in the past year, or even the past month, but in the past eleven days.

That’s how long it took to welcome the 10,000th visitor to KÖ90, the new flagship store opened jointly by Brabus and British yachtbuilder Sunseeker at Königsalle 90 in Düsseldorf, just 30 miles from Brabus headquarters in nearby Bottrop.

Spread over 4,300 square feet at the southern end of the city’s swankiest boulevard, KÖ90 showcases a array of Brabus-tuned contemporary Benzes and comprehensively restored classics – everything from a vintage SL to a new 650-horsepower S-Class convertible, from a customized Smart to a luxed-out Sprinter. There aren’t any yachts docked inside, but prospective customers can explore the range of possibilities with a sales consultant on site.

The 10,000th visitor, Cathrin Hennemann from the Lower Rhine region, was welcomed by Brabus CEO & founder Bodo Buschmann with a glass of champagne and a VIP tour. She visited on Saturday, December 23 – just 11 days after the location opened on December 12.

To put that number into perspective, consider that Ferrari welcomed a record 500,000 visitors between its two museums in Maranello and Modena this year – which works out to a little over 7,500 per day, per museum. And those are entire museums, run by one of the most recognized brands in the world, right in the heart of Supercar Valley. This is a dealership, run by a tuner, in Europe’s 39th (Germany’s 7th) biggest city.

It must be worth seeing in person then. But if you can’t make it to Düsseldorf, Brabus has similar locations in LA, Miami, London, Moscow, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai, and Tokyo.

Check Out Aston Martin’s New Flagship Showroom In Tokyo [w/Video] 2

Posted by Carscoops Staff in ASTON MARTIN, Aston Martin Videos, Dealers, japan, Reports, video on 12 2nd, 2017

Earlier this month, Aston Martin announced the construction of first overseas brand center. Now it’s opening the doors and invites us inside to take a look around.

The House of Aston Martin Aoyama is situated on the Aoyama Dori in one of Tokyo’s richest and swankiest neighborhoods. Considering how much wealth is concentrated in the Japanese capital, that makes it one of the wealthiest areas in the world.

The facility covers three floors with vehicle displays, merchandise shop and entertainment space. But it doesn’t actually sell cars – that’s handled next door at the adjacent dealership that you can see in the video below). The House is all about representing the brand.

Aston Martin used the location to reveal the new Vantage at the same time as unveiling events were taking place in the UK, United States, and China.

“We are delighted that our first global brand centre is now open here in Tokyo, and it represents a significant milestone in our ambitious investment programme in Japan,” said the company’s Asia Pacific regional director Patrik Nilsson. “We opened our new Tokyo dealership three weeks ago in the adjacent building, and with the launch of The House of Aston Martin Aoyama this week our new customer facilities in Tokyo are complete and ready to take the brand to new heights of luxury and elegance.”

That’s just part of the British automaker’s foray into Japan, where it recently opened a tech accelerator and new regional offices. The company anticipates conducting half a billion pounds’ worth of trade in Japan, and has four additional dealerships spread across the country that it values as the second largest luxury car market in the world.

Hyundai Dealers Furious Over Genesis Split 28
Nov
Posted by Carscoops Staff in Dealers, Genesis, Hyundai, Reports on 11 28th, 2017

Hyundai has big plans for its Genesis brand – not only a slate of new models, but a completely new dealer network. And its current dealers are hopping mad over the prospect of being excluded.

Genesis models are currently sold out of mainstream Hyundai dealers across America, roughly a third of which (totaling some 352 dealers) have invested in staff and facilities upgrades in order to sell the top-of-the-line G90.

The automaker is preparing, however, to slash that number down to about a hundred dedicated showrooms. This means that most of the dealers already selling Genesis models will be cut out of the loop.

Automotive News reports that the issue came to a head at a conference of Hyundai dealers in Dallas earlier this month, where several dealership owners got up and left en masse – ostensibly in order to discuss privately, later rejoining the meeting.

“Both the company and the dealers are in complete agreement that this is critical for the success of the Genesis brand and the dealer body,” a Hyundai spokesman told Automotive News, declining to comment on the incident. “At this particular meeting, during a conversation on the Genesis brand, the dealers asked to have further discussions on the topic, which already are taking place.”

The automaker is preparing to roll out the new G70 to slot in below the G80 and G90 sedans, along with a coupe and three new crossovers.

Michigan Mega-Dealer Nominated As U.S. Ambassador To Morocco 24
Nov
Posted by Carscoops Staff in Dealers, Donald Trump, Reports on 11 24th, 2017

David Fischer is one of the biggest car dealers in America. But soon he’s going to embark on a new mission as an ambassador.

Not a goodwill ambassador or a brand ambassador, but an actual emissary of the United States to one of its key allies in North Africa.

Autonews reports that Fischer is being nominated by President Donald Trump to be the next US ambassador in Morocco.

If confirmed, the new job would be a major change for the chairman of The Suburban Collection, which ranked last year as the 15th largest dealership group in the United States with over $2 billion in revenue.

The company operates 52 dealers, mostly in Michigan with some in California, ranging from domestic mass-market brands like Ford and Dodge all the way up to exotic imports like Aston Martin and even Bugatti.

Beyond his role with his family’s chain of dealerships, Fischer is an active philanthropist, a member of the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission, and honorary chairman of the Detroit Auto Show. He was also a major donor to the Trump campaign, giving a reported $250,000 to the president’s inauguration committee.

McLaren Opens New Dealers From Bahrain To Denver 5

Posted by Carscoops Staff in Dealers, mclaren, Middle East on 11 5th, 2017

McLaren keeps rolling out new supercars, so it naturally needs the dealers to sell them. To that end, it has opened two new showrooms in vastly different locations on opposite sides of the globe.

The latest in McLaren’s retail network of 80 locations around the world were added opened this week in Denver and in Bahrain.

The Colorado location aims to serve the Rocky Mountain region, extending from Montana down to New Mexico, with a new 13,000-square-foot facility. It includes a showroom and service center, of course, but also an 85-inch touchscreen configurator, a conference center, cigar lounge, golf simulators, and putting green.

The automaker’s 22nd location in North America, McLaren Denver is being run by the Mike Ward Auto Group which also sells Maseratis, Alfa Romeos, Fiats, and Infinitis.

The new Bahrain showroom, meanwhile, was opened by McLaren’s chairman and largest shareholder Sheikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al Khalifa in his home country. The franchise run by Kanoo Motors SPC opened nearly a year ago, but has now moved into its new 32,000-square-foot location (pictured) opposite Toyota Plaza in the city of Tubli.

It’s one of six dealers in the Persian Gulf region, joined by locations in Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
