OKCU’s Mercedes V-Class Elegance Edition Is Like A Private Jet On Wheels 16

The team at OKCU Individual Automotive Concepts have debuted their latest Mercedes-Benz V-Class project at the Dubai Motor Show.

We’ve seen the company create a number of custom V-Class models in the past and like those, this latest example aims at turning the ordinarily-bland van into something more akin to a private jet for the street.

OKCU has totally transformed the interior, fitting four leather seats at the back that face other. Additionally, the roof lining has taken obvious design inspiration from Rolls-Royce’s Starlight Headliner, and two prominent armrests and center consoles are found in between the seats.

Elsewhere, handcrafted wooden accents are found throughout the cabin, joining Nappa leather on the seats and other panels. There’s also a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, leg rests, and seat massage functions.

Brabus Teams Up With A Sneaker Icon To Pay Tribute To The G-Class 15
Nov
Posted by Carscoops Staff in brabus, Dubai Motor Show, mercedes, Mercedes G-Class, tuning on 11 15th, 2017

As the long-serving Mercedes G-Wagen approaches the end of its line, we’ve been witnessing a seemingly endless stream of send-off specials, with the latest being the Buscemi Edition from Brabus.

No, not the actor Steve Buscemi (of Fargo and Big Lebowski fame); this one was done in partnership with Jon Buscemi, a veritable icon in the sneaker scene.

Brabus and Buscemi decked out this G63 with a widebody conversion, decked out all in black with gold trim inside and out. The interior’s likewise upholstered in black, stitched and piped in red. But Brabus being Brabus, there’s more to this custom job than some fancy trim.

The Benz tuner has fitted this special G with its full 850 powertrain conversion, with the twin-turbo V8 bored out to 6.0 liters and tuned to deliver 838 horsepower and 1,069 lb-ft of torque through all four of those 23-inch wheels. Even with 5,622 pounds to push, Brabus says the 850 Buscemi will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in four seconds flat and top out at an electronically limited 162 mph (260 km/h).

Brabus unveiled the Buscemi G at the Dubai Motor Show this week, and will make you one, too – as long as you have the 410,000 euros (plus tax) to spare. Mind you, you also get with two pairs of exclusive Buscemi sneakers and a special three-piece luggage set, too.

5,000HP Devel Sixteen Is The Fastest Thing In Dubai 14
Nov
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in concepts, Devel Sixteen, Dubai Motor Show, video on 11 14th, 2017

Devel’s stand at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show has to be among the most impressive ones, and even though Dubai is known for its extravagant and high-performance cars, the Sixteen is on a whole other level.

Thanks to YouTuber Shmee150, we’ve been given a really close look at a finalized concept version of the Sixteen (not quite production-ready), available in three configurations, each one more powerful than just about any hypercar on sale today.

The “entry-level” model features a 2,000 HP V8 setup, and is followed by a 3,000 HP V8 racing version. Of course, the main attraction is the 5,000 HP quad-turbo 12.3-liter V16 version, which is more track-oriented.

Apparently, this hypercar is meant to hit speeds in excess of 310 mph (500 km/h), which is pretty much when you forget about taking it to the track and send it directly to the Bonneville Salt Flats.

The interior of the car is still under development, yet the concept design looks both simplistic as well as futuristic, which isn’t a bad combination. The cabin also looks surprisingly spacious, unexpected for this type of machine.

Also present at Devel’s stand was the Devel 60, a 6-wheeled off-roader powered by a 6.7-liter turbo diesel V8, good for 720 HP and over 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. It’s not the best looking thing in the world, but you wouldn’t bet against it when it comes to tackling rough terrain.

Infiniti Details 2018 QX80 Full-Size SUV, Priced From $64,750 14
Nov
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Dubai Motor Show, Galleries, Infiniti, Infiniti QX80, Middle East, new cars, prices on 11 14th, 2017

Infiniti’s redesigned QX80 has finally been unveiled at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show, boasting a high-quality cabin, advanced drive-assist technologies and a 400HP 5.6-liter V8.

The QX80 will begin production at the automaker’s Kyushu factory in Japan, and is expected to go on sale in select Infiniti markets across North America, Asia, Western Europe and the Middle East at the end of this year.

“The new Infiniti QX80 has been designed and engineered to allow customers to travel everywhere in luxury. Our flagship SUV features a high-quality, hand-crafted interior, creating a driver-centric, passenger-minded space for inclusive, modern luxury travel,” said company VP, Christian Meunier.

Measuring 210.2 inches (5,339 mm) in length, 75.8 inches (1,925 mm) tall with roof rails and 79.9 inches (2,029 mm) wide, the new QX80 should offer a commanding road-presence, not to mention enough space to seat either 7 or 8 passengers.

Visually, the SUV now appears longer, with a more purposeful front end, featuring functional fenders that maximize air delivery to the engine. The headlights were designed to wrap around the corners of the hood and into the fenders, allowing for a straight shoulder line design that runs from the grille all the way to the rear of the car.

Speaking of the rear, it features sharper and thinner lights and a raised lower bumper section, helping the car appear wider, taller and “more athletic” than its predecessor.

“Infiniti’s design DNA has been scaled up for our largest SUV. The 2018 QX80 combines its commanding new presence with powerful muscularity and enhanced horizontal movement. Our designers raised the visual height of our iconic ‘double-arch’ grille and signature headlamps, striking an unrivaled on-road premium tonality,” said Alfonso Albaisa, senior VP of global design.

Step inside the 2018 QX80 and you might agree that it’s one of the most “luxurious, highest-quality passenger compartments created by Infiniti to date,” – or at least that’s how the automaker views it.

The interior is finished in a range of rich new materials, as quilted leather has been used on not just the seats, but also the door panels and armrests. As for the different interior trims available, aside from the standard Stratford Burl gloss wood trim, QX80 models with Graphite leather are also offered with a dark brown Espresso Burl. Meanwhile, models with Wheat or Saddle Brown upholstery are available with an even darker Charcoal Burl trim.

Moving past all the soft materials and cabin aesthetics, the QX80 also offers a suite of advanced driver assistance features such as Backup Collision Intervention, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), Distance Control Assist, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention.

The 2018 QX80 is available in both 2WD as well as 4WD, both versions using a 400 HP 5.6-liter DOHC V8 engine. Models with 4WD also feature’s Infiniti’s All-Mode system with computer-controlled transfer case and three settings (Auto, 4H and 4L), and are priced from $67,850, whereas the 2WD version starts at $64,750.

McLaren To Debut Its Most Extreme Road Car Yet On December 10 14
Nov
Posted by Carscoops Staff in Dubai Motor Show, mclaren, McLaren Ultimate Series, Reports on 11 14th, 2017

The slow reveal of what promises to be McLaren’s most extreme supercar yet continues with the release of another teaser image and a firm launch date.

At the Dubai Motor Show this week, the British supercar manufacturer announced that the new model will be revealed online just past midnight (UK time) on December 10 – now less than a month away.

Following the first image (ostensibly showing the tailpipes) released upon the model’s initial announcement, today’s teaser provides a glimpse at what would appear to be its taillight – a thin red strip of LEDs – as well as some vents. The proliferation of outlets we’ve seen thus far would seem to suggest that the new hypercar will be covered in louvers and ventilation to keep everything running at optimal temperature.

The next model in McLaren’s Ultimate Series will follow the discontinued P1 (and P1 GTR) and predate the launch of the project referred to this point as BP23. The more touring-focused model is slated to revive the McLaren F1’s iconic 1+2 cabin layout, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see this one adopt a similar central seating position as well. Nor will we be surprised to see this model adopt a more powerful version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (along with other components) found in the 720S, possibly with a hybrid assist.

“With daily usability sacrificed to give the most intensive driver experience around a circuit, the new Ultimate Series car will be the ultimate track-concentrated McLaren,” says the manufacturer, proclaiming that this is being designed “as the most extreme road-legal McLaren ever.”

At this rate, we can expect another teaser or two to follow before the new model’s reveal on December 10, after which it will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Watch this space for more.

McLaren’s Bringing This Custom Black & Gold 720S To Dubai 14
Nov
Posted by Carscoops Staff in Dubai Motor Show, mclaren, McLaren 720S, MSO on 11 14th, 2017

The Persian Gulf is a vital market for exotic automakers – not least for McLaren, which is out to make a splash at this year’s Dubai Motor Show with this one-of-a-kind 720S.

Commissioned by a local client, this 720S has been extensively personalized by McLaren Special Operations with a satin black paintjob and gold trim. But that’s just the start.

The rear wing is inscribed with an Arabic translation of a quote from the company’s namesake founder Bruce McLaren: “Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone.” The script is stylized to emulate the Dubai skyline, and like the wheels and interior trim, is done up in gold tone to stand out from the matte black background.

The buyer also specified an array of carbon-fiber components, including the front splitter, air intakes, roof panel, wing mirror arms, engine cover, and rear deck, wing, bumper, and diffuser. And like the legendary McLaren F1, the engine bay is lined in gold heat shielding – actual 24-karat gold, in this case.

Inside there’s even more carbon and gold trim pieces to go with the black leather and Alcantara upholstery, with a “1 of 1” plaque to identify this as a unique creation. The vehicle will be on display until the owner takes delivery at the close of the show from McLaren Dubai.

2019 Corvette ZR1 Unveiled With 755 HP, 210+ MPH Top Speed 12
Nov
Posted by Michael Gauthier in Chevrolet, Corvette, Dubai Motor Show, featured, new cars, Top 5 on 11 12th, 2017

Chevrolet has unveiled the highly-anticipated 2019 Corvette ZR1.

Billed as the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever created, the ZR1 features a supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine that produces 755 hp (563 kW) and 715 lb-ft (968 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to either a seven-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet didn’t go into specifics but confirmed the model has a top speed in excess of 210 mph (337 km/h).

In order to hit these impressive speeds, the car has been equipped with an all-new front fascia and a “downforce-enhancing front underwing.” The model also features a unique carbon-fiber “halo” hood and four new radiators.

Two different aerodynamic styling packages will be available and the standard “Low Wing” variant is designed to deliver the highest top speed. It enables the ZR1 to generate up to 70 percent more downforce than the Z06’s base aero package.

The optional ZTK Performance Package goes even further as it adds a front splitter and an adjustable “High Wing” that provides an estimated 950 pounds (430 kg) of downforce. The package also includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires, chassis modifications, and a retuned Magnetic Ride Control system that promises to deliver even greater cornering grip.

Speaking of options, Chevrolet will offer a Sebring Orange Design Package that includes a Sebring Orange exterior with orange brake calipers and orange accents. The package also includes orange seat belts, orange contrast stitching, and bronze aluminum interior trim.

The interior can also be equipped with an assortment of other options including heated and ventilated Napa leather upholstery, a carbon fiber rimmed steering wheel, a Bose premium audio system, and a Performance Data Recorder.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 will go on sale next spring and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

2018 Infiniti QX80 Facelift Revealed With More Upscale Design 10
Nov
Posted by Michael Gauthier in Dubai Motor Show, featured, Infiniti, Infiniti Q80, new cars on 11 10th, 2017

Infiniti has given Car and Driver an early glimpse at the 2018 QX80, ahead of its debut at the Dubai International Motor Show on November 14th.

Previewed by the QX80 Monograph concept, the facelifted QX80 has a more upscale appearance as it features a new front fascia with a more prominent grille. The SUV has also been equipped with new headlights, revised air intakes, and less gaudy front fender vents.

Out back, there are restyled taillights and an updated rear bumper. The tailgate has also been redesigned and features a single strip of chrome trim. 20-inch wheels will come standard but 22-inch wheels will be also be available.

Unfortunately, the interior largely carries over and isn’t that much different from the Nissan Armada. Despite the déjà vu design, drivers will find new wood trim, redesigned cup holders, and revised instrument panel lighting. Infiniti also added additional insulation, black carpeting, and an updated rear seat entertainment system with larger displays.

Power reportedly comes from a familiar 5.6-liter V8 engine that produces 400 hp (298 kW) and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional four-wheel drive system.

Chevrolet Teases 2019 Corvette ZR1 Before November 12 Debut 10
Nov
Posted by Brad Anderson in Chevrolet, Chevrolet Videos, Corvette, Dubai Motor Show, Reports, video on 11 10th, 2017

Shortly after images of the long-awaited 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 leaked online, the car manufacturer has released a teaser video previewing the model and confirming its November 12 debut.

The video, posted on Instagram, shows off a host of eye-popping new features of the track-focused Corvette. Among these components is an exposed section of carbon fiber on the hood, a front grille with similar shapes to the Camaro ZL1, a large carbon fiber rear wing, and a new set of quad tailpipes.

As we revealed a couple of days ago, the new Corvette ZR1 will make its public debut at the Dubai Motor Show before heading to the U.S. for a local launch at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Beneath the skin, the 2019 ZR1 will feature a 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine with an Eaton supercharger, not a twin-turbo setup as originally predicted. Power will sit at 750 hp and 680 lb-ft of torque. The new car will also accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds, record a sub-11-second quarter mile and lap Virginia International Raceway a full 2.5 seconds faster than the Z06.

Production-Ready Devel Sixteen Coming To Dubai Motor Show 8
Nov
Posted by Brad Anderson in Devel Sixteen, Dubai Motor Show, Reports on 11 8th, 2017

Shortly after we witnessed the Devel Sixteen’s quad-turbo V16 engine delivering 5007 hp on a dyno, it has emerged that the production-ready car could premiere at next week’s Dubai Motor Show.

In the four years since premiering as a concept in Dubai, most had thought the project was simply vaporware and would never see the light of day.

However, Road & Track reports that Devel is partnering with Italian manufacturing firm Manifattura Automobili Torino to make the Sixteen a production reality.

For those that don’t know, Manifatture Automobili Torino has been tasked with building both the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003 and the new Apollo Intensa Emozione, therefore making it the prime candidate to bring Dubai’s craziest-ever car to the roads.

Now aware of how much power Steve Morris Engines has been able to extract from the powertrain, Devel still quotes the Sixteen as having over 5000 hp, or, as it describes it, “the power of ten supercars.” All this grunt will reportedly launch the hypercar to over 310 mph (500 km/h). Remarkably, Devel claims that the car will still be suitable as a daily driver.

Stay tuned for more about the car in the coming days.

New Corvette ZR1 To Debut At Next Week’s Dubai Motor Show? 8
Nov
Posted by Brad Anderson in Chevrolet, Corvette, Dubai Motor Show, LA Auto Show, Reports on 11 8th, 2017

Chevrolet has been openly testing the 2018 ZR1 for well over a year but no announcement has been made about when the supercar will premiere.

Last month, Chevrolet informed its dealerships that production of 2018 Corvette models will end in just a few months and that production of the 2019 car will commence at the end of January. This means that the new ZR1 will be a 2019 model year car. Additionally, the American carmaker has confirmed dealerships will receive 2019 Order Guides on November 20th.

So, what does all of this mean? Well, it could mean that the new ZR1 will debut earlier than expected, potentially at next week’s Dubai Motor Show on November 14th.

Initially, it was thought the car would launch at the Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of this month. However, it wouldn’t make sense for the car’s order guide to be made public a full 10 days before its debut, as Corvette Blogger mentions.

While Chevrolet has yet to comment on the rumors, they aren’t all that far-fetched, even if the Dubai Motor Show seems like an odd place to reveal the new ZR1. Either way, an appearance in LA seems inevitable for, at the very least, the car’s U.S. debut.
