Nissan Titan To Be Offered With A V6 Engine, Will Debut In The Frontier First 28
Posted by Michael Gauthier in nissan, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Titan, Nissan Xterra, Reports on 12 28th, 2017

The pickup wars are heating up and Nissan North America’s senior vice president of product planning has hinted the Titan will eventually be offered with a V6 engine.

Speaking to Wards Auto, Michael Bunce said “A new Frontier is on its way and a V6 is more geared toward that segment.” However, he added “Both [trucks] are built in the same plant in Mississippi, so that opportunity is being looked at for Titan also.” Bunce declined to say when we can expect the engine to be offered in the Titan but he suggested the V6 will likely debut in the Frontier first.

Little is known about the upcoming engine but Nissan expects it to appeal to companies and consumers who are looking for a work truck and don’t need the power of a V8. The V6 model should also be more affordable than the V8 variant which starts at $29,580.

While Titan sales are nowhere near rivals such as the Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado, Bunce said the company is “fully behind” the Titan.

When asked about the possible return of the Xterra, Bunce said Nissan is “very, very closely” looking at the segment and noted the model could appeal to male Millennials. He went on to describe the Xterra as a “great asset” which could be utilized in the future.

Posted by Michael Karkafiris in nissan, Nissan Titan, prices, Trucks, TSC on 12 22nd, 2017

Nissan has announced the pricing and range details of the 2018 Titan and Titan XD pickup trucks.

The biggest highlight of the 2018MY Titan range is the addition of the Midnight Edition package, which includes a body color grille with dark insert, dark headlights and black …everything, including the 20-inch wheels, both bumpers and badging. The black-themed package is available on the Titan and Titan XD Crew Cab SV and SL 4×4 and 4×2 models, for the price of $1,250.

Half-ton Titans are available in Single Cab, King Cab and Crew Cab body configurations and with 4×2 and 4×4.

All versions continue using the 5.6-liter Endurance V8 which produces 390hp and is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The available maximum towing capacity is rated at 9,740 pounds and the maximum payload capacity is 1,950 pounds, when properly equipped. The 2018 Nissan Titan half-ton comes with utility features like an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system.

As for the Titan XD, Nissan’s bigger pickup truck offers an available maximum towing capacity of 12,310 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 2,080 pounds (when properly equipped). The lineup includes Crew Cab, King Cab and Single Cab body styles, two bed lengths, a choice between a Cummins 5.0L V8 turbodiesel or the 5.6-liter V8 petrol, 4×4 or 4×2 drivelines and five trim levels.

The 2018 Nissan Titan and Titan XD trucks are on sale now at dealers nationwide.

Nissan Prepares For Star Wars: The Last Jedi At LA Auto Show 1
Posted by Brad Anderson in Galleries, LA Auto Show, nissan, Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Rogue, Nissan Rogue Sport, Nissan Titan, Trucks on 12 1st, 2017

As Star Wars: The Last Jedi inches closer to its release date, Nissan has gone stir crazy in promoting the film, creating seven bold concept cars for the LA Auto Show.

Nissan first joined forces with Lucasfilm, the production company behind Star Wars, for the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, some 14 months ago. That film went on to gross in excess of $1 billion at the box office and there are high hopes that the latest film will be able to exceed the magical $1 billion mark too.

With this in mind, Nissan decided to create The Last Jedi-themed versions of the Rogue, Rogue Sport, Altima, Maxima, and Titan. Before you ask, no, the creations won’t be offered for sale.

2018 Nissan Altima – Special Forces TIE Fighter

First up is a heavily-modified Altima inspired by the First Order’s elite Special Forces pilots. Compared to a typical Altima, the sedan stands out thanks to a matte black and red wrap, custom wheels, a windshield inspired by the Special Forces TIE Fighter, and large speakers at each corner, designed to mimic the sounds of the TIE Fighter.

2018 Nissan Maxima – Kylo Ren

The first of three concepts based around the Maxima, the car has been inspired by Kylo Ren and therefore mimics the look of his mask with black and silver accents on the front fascia. Elsewhere, the car includes red headlights, underbody lighting, and modified body panels.

2018 Nissan Maxima – Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer

The second Maxima-based concept is also inspired by Kylo Ren, more specifically his TIE Silencer. The car has been equipped with distinctive wings, red lighting on the front grille, headlights, and fog lights. The car also produces all the characteristic sound effects of Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer.

2018 Nissan Maxima – Captain Phasma

Last but not least for the Maxima concepts is the Captain Phasma variant. Baring a striking resemblance to the popular female character in the film, the car features silver armor across its exterior, made from aluminum. Additionally, there are red and black elements in the paint scheme.

2018 Nissan Rogue – Poe Dameron’s X-wing with BB-8

What we have hear is possibly the craziest concept of all. The SUV has been equipped with expansive wings on either side, as well as quad laser cannons, and illuminating thrusters. On the roof you’ll find a BB-8 astromech droid with functioning lights, motion, and sound.

2018 Nissan Rogue Sport – A-wing

Another interesting concept is the Rogue Sport A-wing. Designed to resemble the A-wing, the SUV includes faux thrusters at the rear and a set of prominent fins on the roof. Additionally, Nissan has fitted a set of blue wheels and laser cannons.

2018 Nissan Titan AT-M6

In a bid to best replicate the huge AT-M6, Nissan has used the Titan as a base, transforming the large pickup truck with a cannon in the tray and a custom body wrap. Furthermore, the pickup benefits from a 1-foot lift kit and a comprehensive sound system that includes an 18-inch subwoofer and delivers 5,000 watts of power.

Nissan’s Offering More Midnight Editions In 2018 Than Ever Before 12
Posted by Carscoops Staff in nissan, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Titan on 11 12th, 2017

Nissan found a winner with its Midnight Editions. In fact, the manufacturer says that out of those models offered with the package, about a third sell with it specified – and about 80 percent of Maxima SRs.

With that kind of demand, it should come as no surprise that the Japanese automaker is extending the Midnight Edition, not only for another model year, but to new models as well.

For 2018, Nissan is offering all its pickups with the murdered-out treatment, including the Frontier, Titan, and Titan XD.

The Frontier Midnight Edition is offered in Crew Cab form with the automatic transmission and either two- or four-wheel drive. It comes with 18-inch alloys, grille, step rails, mirror caps, door handles, and badging all blacked out, along with body-colored bumpers.

The Midnight Titan and Titan XD also get black mirror caps, door handles, step rails, and badges, along with black fog light surrounds, fender louvers (on the XD), and 20-inch wheels. The bumpers are similarly body colored, as is the grille with a dark insert. The package is available on the SV and SL trim levels of either the Titan or Titan XD, with the Crew Cab and either two- or four-wheel drive.

If pickups aren’t your thing, Nissan’s still offering the Midnight Edition treatment on the Sentra SR ($495), Altima SR ($1,095), Maxima SR ($1,195), Rogue SV ($1,095), Murano Platinum (pricing TBA), and Pathfinder SL ($1,395).

Pricing has yet to be announced for the Titans, but the new Frontier Midnight Edition commands a $995 premium. Equipment levels vary as well from one model to the other, but the manufacturer asserts that the packages represent an average 45-percent savings over specifying the same equipment separately.

You don’t have to order yours in black, either: while the trim is all murdered out, the bodywork can be ordered in white or gunmetal grey, too.

2018 Nissan Titan XD Gears Up For Winter With Snowplow Pack 7
Posted by Michael Karkafiris in nissan, Nissan Titan, Reports, Trucks on 11 7th, 2017

Nissan announced the new Snow Plow Prep package for the Titan full-size pickup truck, which makes it compatible with a range of commercial and personal snow plows.

The new package replaces the front springs with heavier duty ones which increase the front gross axle weight rating capacity by 575 pounds (from 4,325lbs to 4,900lbs), enabling the fitment of snow plows up to 786lbs (in the case of the Titan XD Gas Crew Cab S model).

The Snow Plow Prep pack is available with all three body configurations, meaning single-, King- and Crew Cab and in XD and XD Gas versions.

Power comes from the 5.6-liter Endurance V8 which is rated at 390hp and 394lb-ft of torque and is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Customers can also opt for a 5.0-liter Cummings diesel V8.

“When the roads are covered with snow and ice and you’re out clearing a parking lot in the dead of night, you better have confidence in the truck behind the plow,” said Billy Hayes, division vice president, LCV and Trucks of Nissan North America. “We’re proud to say that the TITAN XD is built as tough as the hard-working people taking on the job of keeping Mother Nature at bay.”
