BMW Opens More Dedicated M Showrooms As Range Expands 13

BMW offers more M models today than it ever has before, and you can get them from any of its dealers, but for a truly special experience, you’ll want to head to a dedicated M showroom.

Out of the 4,400 or so BMW dealers in 150 countries around the world, only 850 (or roughly one fifth) are specially set up to sell the performance models. That’s double the number compared to four years ago.

The latest, which is pictured here, is Performance Munich Autos, a dealership in Singapore with a dedicated showroom and service facility just for BMW M and BMW M Performance models.

The showroom covers 4,500 square meters (48,000 square feet) and, in addition to displaying models available for purchase, has a dedicated Individual Lounge for special orders and a multimedia Delivery Suite where the vehicles are handed over under spotlights and driven right out of the showroom.

“The new showroom reflects the dynamic character of the BMW M brand and fulfills the wish of many customers for an exclusive retail experience,” said Paul de Courtois, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia.

2017’s year-end numbers are still being tallied, but in 2016 the Bavarian automaker sold 67,900 M and M Performance vehicles and had already beaten that number last November. The lineup, depending on the market, includes the M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, X5 M, and X6 M, as well as the M140i, M240i, M550i, M550d, M760Li, X3 M40i, X4 M40i, X5 M50d, and X6 M50d. That’s a heck of a model range, with some offering multiple body-styles, and it only stands to grow further in the future.

Porsche Dressed 5 Macans In Classic Racing Liveries, And They Look Awesome 27
Dec

What Porsche develops on the race track, it applies to the road cars it produces – even crossovers like the Macan. One element you wouldn’t expect to see make the transmission from one to the other is its racing liveries, but looking at these show cars, we can’t help but wonder why it doesn’t.

The automaker put five Macans on the streets of Singapore, each decked out in a color scheme borrowed from one of its classic racing cars: four from versions of the 917, one from the 956 – Le Mans challengers (if not outright winers) all.

Hard as it is to choose, one of our favorites is the Martini Racing livery of red, teal, and blue stripes over white. Another wears the Rothmans livery (all too often overlooked, in our opinion) of a white upper body, dark blue lower, with gold and red stripes. There’s one in Gulf colors of baby blue and orange. And another in the Salzburg design of red with white streaks. Last but not least is the oddball Pink Pig, with dashed lines showing where the butcher would carve it up.

Porsche’s Asia Pacific division performed a similar treatment this past summer, applying Porsche’s current racing livery to a Macan Turbo (complete with the optional Performance Package). We thought that was pretty cool at the time, but to our eyes, these look even better. Or some of them do, anyway.

Lamborghini Celebrates Asian Premiere Of Urus In Singapore 15
Dec
Posted by Brad Anderson in Asia, Lamborghini, Lamborghini Urus, Reports, Singapore, SUV on 12 15th, 2017

Lamborghini has celebrated the Asian premiere of the Urus by unveiling the super SUV in Singapore, one week after the vehicle’s global premiere in Italy.

The event was hosted by the ArtScience Museum in Marina Bay Sands and given the region’s love for Lamborghini, it’s no surprise that enthusiasts and fans turned up to the event in force.

In fact, no less than 122 Lamborghinis took to the streets of Singapore on December 10 to celebrate the launch of the Urus, setting a new Asian record for the largest number of Lamborghinis driven in a convoy.

Lamborghini believes the Urus will double the brand’s annual sales and Asia is being targeted as one of the SUV’s most important markets. In China, prices start at 3,130,000 CNY (roughly $473,000 USD).

Sitting at the heart of the Urus is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering a satisfying 641 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. This allows for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 3.6 seconds, and a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h). Beyond its straight-line performance, the Urus promises to also be exceptionally potent at a racetrack with the Italian marque targeting a new Nurburgring lap record for an SUV.
