Custom Dually Chevy Camaro Wants Not For Traction, Subtlety 20

Chevy makes all kinds of vehicles – among them, at opposite ends of the spectrum, work-a-day pickup trucks like the Silverado and performance models like the Camaro. Seldom do the two meet, but that’s just what we appear to have here.

Shared with the world via Reddit and UAE Muscle is what appears to be a custom Camaro with the dual rear axle from a Silverado HD, spotted in the United Arab Emirates.

The wheels are enclosed in custom bodywork, but those don’t appear to be the only modifications. The whole thing is apparently dropped to the ground, fitted with Lambo-style scissor doors, some weird Giger-esque engine cover, a two-tone brown and white paintjob, an interior bathed in LEDs, and more tribal tattoos than a Pamela Anderson centerfold.

Subtle it is not, and we doubt the mods give it much of a performance edge. And those standard side mirrors aren’t going to show much beyond the rear haunches. But however much power it is packing, it doesn’t look like it’ll have much trouble getting it down to the tarmac.

1959 Corvette Vs 1955 Ford Thunderbird In Classic Comparison Test 19
Nov

If you know your history and you like American muscle, this comparison of a ’59 Corvette and a ’55 Thunderbird might be equally if not more to your liking than most of the new cars getting reviewed these days.

Choosing between a first-generation Corvette and a Thunderbird is no easy task. Both cars are two-seat convertibles with V8 engines and manual transmissions, and both feature a lot of chrome.

When new, the Corvette was slightly more expensive, which made sense since it was marketed as a sportier car, putting down 270 HP to the Thunderbird’s 202 HP, and hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in 8.3 seconds, whereas the Ford needed 9.6 seconds.

Despite all the Corvette’s advantages on paper, the Thunderbird outsold its rival by more than 23-to-one when it first came out in 1955. While Ford built this car as a direct rival to the Corvette, they also wanted to put an emphasis on its comfort and convenience features, rather than driving dynamics.

This comparison review, courtesy of Driving.ca, definitely highlights all these differences. In fact, the guys quickly arrive at the conclusion that, while the Thunderbird is quite a looker, it’s the first-gen Corvette that feels lighter and more agile on the road – not to mention faster in a straight line.

Budweiser Pays Tribute To Dale Earnhardt, Jr’s Career 18

When the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup season comes to a close, Dale Earnhardt, Jr will walk away from the sport.

Eager to pay tribute to Earnhardt’s long and successful career, Budweiser has released a slow-beat video looking back at some unforgettable races the much-loved driver was involved in.

Having completed over 600 races throughout his career, Earnhardt, Jr has claimed 26 victories, none much memorable than his win at the 2001 Pepsi 400 at Daytona International that came just a few months after his father died during the Daytona 500.

Of the 18 seasons which Earnhardt, Jr has competed in, eight of them were done with the Budweiser Chevrolet team.

Is The Base Chevrolet Camaro 2.0T A Proper Muscle Car? 16
Nov

The idea of having a Camaro powered by a turbo four-cylinder engine might sound strange to some people, even sacrilegious to some other, but that doesn’t make it necessarily a bad car.

Especially in this case, as the owner found his car -a brand new fully-loaded 2016 Camaro 2.0T with a manual and an original sticker price of $37k- sitting unwanted on a lot for eight months before buying it for just $26,000.

That’s basically Toyota 86-money for a very nicely balanced rear-drive coupe with 275hp and 295lb-ft of torque that also happens to be a Camaro. It’s all about perspective.

Sure, we’ve been used to Camaros destroying their rear tires to the tune of angry V8s but the current generation has also proven that it has a top-notch handling character so the base 2.0T model should be a very nice car indeed.

Let’s find out then if the four-banger Camaro deserves some credit thanks to Matt Farah’s latest One Take video.

2019 Corvette ZR1 Sounds Like Your 911’s Worst Nightmare 13

It’s official, the most powerful road-going Corvette in history is a bad-ass in more ways than one.

We saw the ZR1 break cover today, but those were stills. What we have here is a video tour of the ZR1 courtesy of Doug DeMuro, who traveled all the way to Dubai in order to check out the car.

Before giving us his take, the first thing we get to see is an exhaust sound bite, and let’s just say everybody is going to hear this car’s 755 HP 6.2-liter V8, every time it gets revved. By the way, the engine also produces a massive 715 lb-ft (968 Nm) of torque.

Now, if you like numbers, we reckon you’re going to love the ZR1’s weight, which DeMuro says is just 3,560 lbs (1,614 kg), almost identical to that of a stock Z06, only the ZR1 packs considerably more power. He also says that he anticipates the car to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in as little as 2.7 seconds, but we’ll know more once Chevy shares some more official figures.

As for the car’s many quirks and features, we learned that buyers will get a choice of two wing options (low and high, this being the high one), and that the rear wing can be adjusted manually. DeMuro also noticed that it’s going to be really hard for people to load things into the boot because of the wing.

This is also the most carbon fiber-filled GM vehicle ever built. Even the roof panel is made from this lightweight material, and by the way, it’s removable, so you’re basically riding around in a 755 HP convertible that sounds like this.

The all-new Corvette ZR1 is expected in dealerships in Spring 2018.

Honda Civic, Mazda 3, And Chevy Cruze Batten Down The Hatches 12

These days, the market is filled with all sorts of compact hatchbacks, including the (worldwide) popular Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus .

But what if you wanted to step out of their shadow and go for something different, yet still affordable? Well, then you will have to check out other brands, and in this case, they include Honda, Chevrolet, and Mazda.

The team from RoadShow pinned the new Civic against the Cruze and one of the oldest ones in the segment, the Mazda 3, only to come up with a rather surprising result.

Before giving their verdict, though, the reviewers covered each basic aspect of the three hatchbacks, including their exterior design, cabin space, infotainment, fuel economy and handling.

Arguably, the Mazda 3 came first in most aspects, while the Chevy Cruze was found to be a good, civilized, and quiet urban driver, though consumers won’t feel the need to drive it on a twisty road. The newest arrival of the three, which wears Honda’s logo, is surprisingly good too, but which one would you choose?

All You Need To Know About The Chevy Camaro In 10 Minutes 12

The pony car industry has become one of the most exciting segments of the automotive market ever since the Ford Mustang was introduced some 53 years ago.

In the decades since the Mustang hit the road, many brands have tried to emulate the vehicle’s success, with varying degrees of success. Of all the Mustang emulators, one car stands out, the Chevrolet Camaro.

To get you up to speed with everything there is to know about the Camaro, Donut Media has published a 10-minute clip tracing the car’s history and detailing some of the most important variants built in the last five decades, including the famed Z/28.

Ever since launching, the Camaro has traded blows with the Mustang. However, that all ended in 2002 when Chevrolet pulled the plug on its pony car due to poor sales, effectively crowning the Mustang as the king of all pony cars. Eight years later, Chevrolet relaunched the Camaro with the generation we’re most familiar with.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Chevrolet Teases 2019 Corvette ZR1 Before November 12 Debut 10

Shortly after images of the long-awaited 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 leaked online, the car manufacturer has released a teaser video previewing the model and confirming its November 12 debut.

The video, posted on Instagram, shows off a host of eye-popping new features of the track-focused Corvette. Among these components is an exposed section of carbon fiber on the hood, a front grille with similar shapes to the Camaro ZL1, a large carbon fiber rear wing, and a new set of quad tailpipes.

As we revealed a couple of days ago, the new Corvette ZR1 will make its public debut at the Dubai Motor Show before heading to the U.S. for a local launch at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Beneath the skin, the 2019 ZR1 will feature a 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine with an Eaton supercharger, not a twin-turbo setup as originally predicted. Power will sit at 750 hp and 680 lb-ft of torque. The new car will also accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds, record a sub-11-second quarter mile and lap Virginia International Raceway a full 2.5 seconds faster than the Z06.

World Series MVP George Springer Gets A Chevy Silverado Centennial Edition 5
Nov

It could hardly get any better, we’d imagine, for any baseball player than winning the World Series. Being named the most valuable player in the process could only make it that much better. But as if none of that were enough already, this year’s MVP also got to go home with a brand-new truck.

Not just any truck, either, but the new Chevrolet Silverado Centennial Edition, which upgrades on the LTZ Z71 Crew Cab with special color, trim, and badges in celebration of Chevy’s hundred years in the truck business.

The pickup was presented by Chevy VP Brian Sweeney to George Springer, the Houston Astros centerfielder who was named the 2017 Willie Mays World Series Most Valuable Player – the award having been renamed for the Hall of Famer earlier this year. Springer went 11-for-29 in the series this year, hitting five home runs to tie the record set by Reggie Jackson in 1977 and again by Chase Utley in 2009.

Each year, Chevy awards the MVPs of both the World Series and MLB All-Star game with new cars or trucks to take home along with their trophies and rings. The automaker revealed the Centennial Editions of both the Silverado and the smaller Colorado barely over a month ago in the same state of Texas that that Springer’s Astros call home, though the game was won away this year at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
