‘Wolf Of The Autostrada’ Sees The Return Of Ruf’s Iconic Yellowbird 6

The Ruf CTR, better known as the Yellowbird, is something of a mystical figure in the automotive world.

At the time of its release in 1987, the Yellowbird had 469 hp and 408 lb-ft on tap and could sprint all the way to 213 mph (342 km/h). The car then became the stuff of legend when Stefan Roser brought to the Nurburgring, sliding around the circuit’s incredibly dangerous corners.

Perhaps eager to remind us of the 1980s, Ruf has just dropped an interesting short movie dubbed ‘Wolf of the Autostrada’, starring a Ferrari Testarossa, Lamborghini Countach, Aston Martin Vantage, and the Yellowbird.

The film captures some mesmerizing driving of the four performance cars and even stars Valentino Balboni and none other than Stefan Roser himself.

If you have a spare 5 minutes, this is the way to spend it.

Earlier this month, Aston Martin announced the construction of first overseas brand center. Now it’s opening the doors and invites us inside to take a look around.

The House of Aston Martin Aoyama is situated on the Aoyama Dori in one of Tokyo’s richest and swankiest neighborhoods. Considering how much wealth is concentrated in the Japanese capital, that makes it one of the wealthiest areas in the world.

The facility covers three floors with vehicle displays, merchandise shop and entertainment space. But it doesn’t actually sell cars – that’s handled next door at the adjacent dealership that you can see in the video below). The House is all about representing the brand.

Aston Martin used the location to reveal the new Vantage at the same time as unveiling events were taking place in the UK, United States, and China.

“We are delighted that our first global brand centre is now open here in Tokyo, and it represents a significant milestone in our ambitious investment programme in Japan,” said the company’s Asia Pacific regional director Patrik Nilsson. “We opened our new Tokyo dealership three weeks ago in the adjacent building, and with the launch of The House of Aston Martin Aoyama this week our new customer facilities in Tokyo are complete and ready to take the brand to new heights of luxury and elegance.”

That’s just part of the British automaker’s foray into Japan, where it recently opened a tech accelerator and new regional offices. The company anticipates conducting half a billion pounds’ worth of trade in Japan, and has four additional dealerships spread across the country that it values as the second largest luxury car market in the world.

What Do F1 Drivers Think Of The New Aston Martin Vantage? 28

When you drive a Formula One racing car for a living, could anything else possibly live up to the rush of your day job?

Maybe, maybe not, but these two F1 drivers (one past, one present) seem to enjoy driving the new Aston Martin Vantage in this latest clip for Gaydon’s newest model.

Pictured are Martin Brundle and Daniel Ricciardo. Brundle is best known these days as a broadcaster, but has had his share of success in the racing cockpit as well. He rivaled Ayrton Senna in British Formula Three back in 1983, spent a dozen (mostly fruitless) years in Formula One, and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright with Jaguar in 1990.

Racing at the front of the pack as he does today, Ricciardo may require even less of an introduction. He won the British F3 title that eluded Brundle, graduating to F1 in 2011, and has won five grands prix for Red Bull in the past four seasons. The Aussie driver is one of the few, in short, who’s managed to pose a serious challenge to the domination of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes these past few years, despite having a slower, less reliable car at his disposal.

We’re sure that either could get their hands on just about any car they want these days, and have both been employed to drive some of the fastest cars ever devised. Given that the clip was released by the manufacturer (which happens to be one of Red Bull’s biggest sponsors), we wouldn’t take it as perfectly objective opinion, but it’s always fun to see what a winning racer thinks of a mere “mortal” road car.

Daniel Ricciardo Confirms He’s Ordered An Aston Martin Valkyrie 28

Beyond the handsome paycheck, being a Formula One driver includes a number of other perks, as Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo has discovered.

During a recent conversation with Shmee150 in Abu Dhabi, the Australian confirmed that he’s secured a reservation for the Aston Martin Valkyrie. This comes despite the fact that Ricciardo doesn’t have a huge car collection and probably all comes down to his relationship with Aston Martin thanks to the Red Bull Racing Formula One team.

As development of the Valkyrie is still in its early stages, prototypes have yet to hit the pavement. However, Ricciardo says he wants to be a part of the hypercar’s development, hopefully jumping behind the wheel of it before virtually anyone else.

In the 18-months since the Valkyrie was first unveiled as a concept, the design of the vehicle has progressed massively and is now a mixture of curvaceous body panels and cutting-edge aerodynamic elements.

Unlike the Mercedes-AMG Project One which uses a Formula One powertrain, the Valkyrie will be more traditional, utilizing a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine developed by Cosworth. Although the engine will deliver roughly 900 hp by itself, Aston Martin will pair it with an energy recovery system to lift power to beyond 1,000 hp. When it’s all said and done, the British marque expects the track-only Valkyrie variant to rival an F1 car on a racetrack.

Aston Martin Unveils 9-Minute Doc Celebrating The Vantage GTE 24

If you were curious to know what it took for Aston Martin to build a road car and a race car at the same time, the British automaker has just put it on film for you.

This specially-commissioned video documents the birth of the Vantage GTE, Aston Martin’s track focused weapon aimed at the FIA World Endurance Championship.

“We decided to replace the current Vantage road car and – since it’s really necessary to take race technology from the track to the road and from the road to the track – it’s really important that we design both simultaneously,” said company boss, Dr Andy Palmer.

The video will take you through the 18 months it took in order to turn a concept into a racer able to challenge the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Ford, Corvette and BMW at Le Mans next summer.

Thus far, the Aston Martin GTE has completed over 14,000 km (8,700 miles) of testing, in the UK, Spain (at Navarra) and at Sebring in the U.S.

Hear The New Aston Martin Vantage Rev Its AMG Heart Out 24

Beyond its beautiful exterior design, the outgoing Aston Martin Vantage will be fondly remembered for its remarkable V8 engine and exhaust note.

Delivering 380 hp in its initial form, the 4.3-liter V8 was far from the most powerful engine on the market but it sounded absolutely incredible and Jeremy Clarkson actually named it as the best sounding car of the year in 2006. Can the new Vantage compete with its predecessor in this department?

Until we hear the new sports car in person, it’ll be difficult to know. In the meantime, the video below provides a taste of what to expect from the twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 sourced from AMG.

Even at low revs, it is clear that Aston has made the new Vantage sound quite distinct from AMG models that use the same powertrain. In fact, the exhaust cracks and pops at just the slightest throttle input and will surely sound fantastic when being unleashed on a mountain road.

Aston’s New Vantage Unleashes Its Inner Beast In Video Debut 22

Typically when an automaker releases the first video of one of its new cars, the footage is fairly straightforward. Sometimes more exciting, sometimes less. But with this debut clip, Aston Martin went a decidedly more creative route.

To showcase the all-new Vantage, the British automaker teamed up with the celebrated photographer who goes only by the name Rankin. And the resulting video is stylishly animalistic.

For the uninitiated, John Rankin Waddell is one of Britain’s most celebrated photographers, having taken the portraits of everyone from Queen Elizabeth to David Bowie. His latest project for Aston Martin takes the form of the motion picture, captured over two days at the Atlanta Motorsports Park and a static shoot at the artist’s studio.

“My ambition is to create film and stills that make the hairs on your neck stand up,” says Rankin. “It’s about high intensity, maximum impact – imagery that gets your pulse racing with the urgency of the V8 engine at full throttle.”

We’d say he got the message across, but we’ll let the video and photos speak for themselves. Just be prepared for the unusual.

Aston Martin Vantage And Vantage GTE Teased Ahead Of Tomorrow’s Unveiling 20
Nov
Posted by Michael Gauthier in ASTON MARTIN, Aston Martin Vantage, Aston Martin Videos, video on 11 20th, 2017

Aston Martin is gearing up to unveil the new Vantage and Vantage GTE tomorrow at 20:00 GMT (3:00 p.m. EST) so it comes as little surprise the company has released a handful of new teaser videos.

The first clip focuses on the Vantage GTE and it shows the race car will have a front splitter, a side-exiting exhaust, and a massive rear wing. We can also see aerodynamic mirrors, lightweight alloy wheels, and what appears to be a V8 engine. Other notable features include a race-specific steering wheel and a special driver’s seat.

The Vantage GTE will compete in the World Endurance Championship and it could enter competition as early as next May.

The teaser video for the road-going model isn’t as revealing as the clip simply suggests the new Vantage will be a powerful predator that won’t be tamed.

While that’s not much to go on, spy and patent photos have revealed the model will eschew the timeless styling of its predecessor for a more aggressive design that draws inspiration from the DB10 and Vulcan.

Like the DB11, the Vantage will be offered with an AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. Aston Martin’s Matt Becker recently confirmed the engine will produce over 500 hp (372 kW) so it’s possible the model could have the same output as the DB11 which is rated at 503 hp (375 kW) and 498 lb-ft (675 Nm) of torque.

Official: 2018 Aston Martin Vantage To Pack Just Over 500hp From Biturbo V8 18

Posted by Michael Karkafiris in ASTON MARTIN, Aston Martin Vantage, Aston Martin Videos, video on 11 18th, 2017

We’re just days away from the launch of the brand new Aston Martin Vantage and the latest promo video reveals the first solid specs of the new British sports car.

Featuring Red Bull F1 driver Max Verstappen, Aston Martin’s latest video shows a camouflaged prototype of the new Vantage being driven on track and the company’s Dynamics Chief Engineer Matt Becker spilling the beans on the engine’s output: over 500hp and 505lb-ft (685Nm) of torque from the AMG-sourced 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.

In comparison, the same V8 engine produces 503hp and 513lb-ft (695Nm) of torque in the DB11. Becker continued saying that the dry weight of the new Vantage is 1,530kg (3,373lbs), making it slightly lighter than the outgoing model and close to 200kg lighter than the DB11 with the V12 engine.

The all-new Vantage also has a shorter by 100mm wheelbase than the DB11 in order to offer a more fun driving experience, with Verstappen praising its playful nature on the track.

Aston Martin will finally pull the wraps off the new Vantage on November 21, so watch this space.

2018 Aston Martin Vantage Goes Sideways In New Teaser 16
Nov
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in ASTON MARTIN, Aston Martin Vantage, Aston Martin Videos, new cars, video on 11 16th, 2017

Aston Martin’s sexy 2018 Vantage is being celebrated on video once more, ahead of its scheduled debut on November 21.

The latest teaser video has a rather artistic flair, as it depicts the upcoming sports car going sideways on a track for a few brief seconds in slow motion.

With some styling influences coming from the James Bond DB10, as well as the Vulcan and new DB11, the baby Aston Martin will be a beautiful challenger to the likes of the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-AMG GT.

Moreover, it will also have the muscle to do so, as it’s expected to make use of the AMG-sourced 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that powers the entry-level DB11.

Aston Martin are also believed to use a detuned version of the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 lump that debuted in the DB11 last year for the new V12 Vantage, but this version will debut at a later date.
