2019 Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 Is The New Cool Kid On The Block 15
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in AMG, commercials, Detroit-Auto-Show, Film, mercedes, Mercedes AMG, Mercedes CLS, Mercedes Videos, video on 01 15th, 2018

Mercedes-AMG taps into the electrified market for the first time with a new range of cars that wear the ’53’ moniker.

One of them is the CLS 53 4Matic+, a range-topping model of the third-gen CLS, which has a more aggressive exterior design, and sportier trim in the cabin.

The biggest change, however, lies beneath its pretty skin, where motivation comes from a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder  engine, with a starter-alternator that feeds the 48-volt electrical system.

The combined output of 456hp and 567lb-ft (769Nm) of torque is channeled to all four corners through a 9-speed auto. Naught to 62mph (100km/h) takes only 4.5sec in the mild hybrid, and top speed is limited to 167mph (270km/h) with the optional AMG Driver’s package, or 155mph (250km/h) without it.

Deep-pocketed enthusiasts will get to order the new Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4Matic+ in the coming months, when they will likely spend close to $100,000 in the US of A, given that the old model, which can still be had here, starts from $75,150.

Until the top-of-the-line CLS goes on sale, though, it can be viewed live at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, where it will remain until January 28. It can also be seen on video, as it celebrates its dynamic debut in the first commercial.

Alright, Alright: Matthew McConaughey Doesn’t Say A Word In New 2018 Lincoln Navigator Ad 28
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in celebrities, commercials, Lincoln, Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln Videos, video on 12 28th, 2017

Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey is back behind the wheel of a Lincoln, just in time for the NCAA football playoffs.

The new ad campaign, dubbed ‘Perfect Rhythm’, will feature two spots starring McConaughey and the 2018 Navigator, this being the first one.

“Perfect rhythm refers to the feeling you get in those situations when everything comes together,” said Lincoln marketing exec, John Emmert. “This is our most spacious, refined and capable Navigator ever, combining modern luxury with advanced technology that elevates every passenger’s experience.”

The video was shot in the Pacific Northwest by cinematographer Wally Pfister, who also worked on the “That’s Continental” campaign. The concept was to have McConaughey pull up to a railroad crossing and start an impromptu concert, although no train is in sight.

“This piece is all about energy,” added Emmert. “You see Matthew in control. He starts a rhythm and it builds, and he becomes the master of his experience. We’ve overlaid a complex sound design as a freight train enters the scene and rumbles by. There’s this wonderful crescendo of light and sound that builds and then ends as suddenly as it begins.”

The two-part campaign will air as a TV ad during the January 1st College Football Playoffs, starting with this 60-second video. A second spot will then air later on in the month.

Infiniti Plays A Game Of Thrones In 2018 QX80 TV Spot 28
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in commercials, Infiniti, Infiniti QX80, Infiniti Videos, video on 12 28th, 2017

Infiniti’s full-size flagship SUV, the QX80, doesn’t discriminate when it comes to luxury, treating all of its passengers to the same levels of comfort regardless of where they’re sitting.

In order to display that on video, Infiniti put together a 30-second national spot called ‘Thrones”, which will air for the very first time on television on January 1, 2018.

The spot opens with a series of images showing some of the most luxurious seats in the world – we’re talking custom-made thrones fit only for kings and queens.

Next thing you know, you’re in the new QX80, where each passenger can enjoy the spacious and comfortable semi-aniline leather-appointed seating options, as well as the wood trim accents, the updated InTouch infotainment system and the advanced rear entertainment system.

“We designed the 2018 QX80 with the mindset that luxury is better when shared, offering luxurious amenities that every passenger can enjoy,” said marketing exec, Phil O’Connor. “The beginning of the commercial says it best: ‘For centuries, the best seats were built for one.’ Today, we aim to deliver the ultimate expression of inclusive luxury where no passenger takes a back seat.”

The 2018 Infiniti QX80 is available in both 2WD and 4WD, with the entry-level 2WD model featuring a base price of $64,750.

BMW Wishes Us A Merry Christmas With One-Off E30 M3 Pickup 20
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in BMW, BMW M, BMW M3, BMW Videos, Classics, commercials, Film, video on 12 20th, 2017

‘Tis that time of season again to decorate your home and choose that perfect Christmas tree, and for automakers it’s also a nice opportunity to promote their products by creating Christmas-themed ads.

BMW did just that, but instead of choosing something of its current arsenal, like the new, all-wheel drive M5 or one of their powerful crossovers/SUVs, they went for something from the past, and most specifically a pickup version of the M3 E30.

If you’ve never heard of it, it’s because it never hit the market and was a skunkworks project created by the Bavarian brand’s M division in 1986 to transport various work equipment and parts. That it did until 2012, when it was retired.

The M3 pickup is based on an E30 Convertible and initially used the 2.0-liter engine of the 320iS, which was subsequently replaced by the M3’s 2.3-liter unit that’s rated at 200hp.

The commercial shows a mother and her daughter making the final preparations for Christmas, while the father is coming home with the tree in the M3 pickup’s bed. Apparently, he enjoyed powersliding on the snow-filled roads and had so much fun, he forgot about the Christmas tree at the back and, by the time he got home, it was ruined, much to the dismay of his family.

The video is also BMW’s way of promoting their new M website, which includes no less than 12 models, from the M2 Coupe to the X6 M and from the M3 CS and M4 CS to the all-new M5.

Who You Gonna Call? 2018 Dacia Duster Ain’t Afraid Of No Ghosts 9
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in commercials, DACIA, Dacia Duster, Dacia Videos, new cars, video on 12 9th, 2017

Dacia is promoting the second generation Duster in its homeland by using the famous soundtrack of the Ghostbusters movies.

The Romanian SUV isn’t chasing any ghosts in its official TV spot, but it does highlight some of its novelties that are meant to make it more appealing to potential customers.

Portrayed as a go-anywhere vehicle, the all-new Duster features new equipment like a multi-view camera system, blond spot warning, hill descent control, hill start assist, automatic headlights, keyless entry and new curtain airbags, among others.

Dacia will launch the second-gen Duster in various markets across Europe in the coming months, with pricing to be announced soon. In the United Kingdom, it is set to arrive next summer, and buyers will be able to choose between two petrol engines, with 115PS (113hp) and 125PS (123hp), with the former coming in an LPG version as well, and two diesels that are rated at 90PS (89hp) and 110PS (108hp) respectively.

Alfa Romeo’s American Stelvio Ad May Leave You Scratching Your Head 7
Posted by Brad Anderson in Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Alfa Romeo Videos, alfa-romeo, commercials, video on 12 7th, 2017

To car enthusiasts like ourselves, the name Alfa Romeo is synonymous with some of the most addictive and stylish production cars ever built – it’s also negatively correlated to reliability, but that’s another story.

However, to your average car consumer in the United States, the Italian marque is a relative unknown.

Alfa first tried to crack back into the modern-day U.S. market with the 4C but that didn’t go very well. Since then, it has launched both the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV in the country and is finally making inroads in a becoming a household name.

In a bid to promote the Stelvio and raise awareness for the carmaker, Alfa Romeo has dropped a new 30-second commercial for the SUV made for American consumers.

The American narrator for the commercial raps a rather catchy poem about the bland SUVs that fill the U.S. market and how the Stelvio is distinguished from them. As a way to appeal to millennials and spread awareness of the brand, we think it does quite a good job.

However, we’re not so sure that prospective buyers of the Stelvio will be convinced into purchasing the SUV with this commercial. It is a bit too brash and a bit too loud, especially for a company like Alfa Romeo that’s meant to exude Italian sports car heritage.

What do you think of the advertisement?

W Motors’ 900 HP Fenyr SuperSport Hits The Road In Dramatic Fashion 7
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in commercials, Middle East, video, W Motors on 12 7th, 2017

With all the hype surrounding the latest models from Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren, it’s easy to forget a new supercar that was recently launched by the Dubai-based W Motors.

Yes, Dubai is filled with supercars from any manufacturer you can think of, yet it’s not known for making them. However, by releasing an official video featuring the production version of the Fenyr SuperSport, W Motors shows that they mean business.

Portrayed out in the open, surrounded by lots of drama and with plenty of CGI, the Fenyr SuperSport is “named after the most aggressive and vicious wolf in mythology”, the manufacturer says, referring to the Norse ‘Fenrir’, a son of Loki and the one foretold to kill Odin during Ragnarok, the battle to end all battles.

Mythology (and Marvel movie franchise) aside, the Fenyr SuperSport is powered by the engine of the Porsche RUF, meaning a 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six that sends 900 HP and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It takes less than 2.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) and, flat-out, it will reach speeds in excess of 400 km/h (249 mph).

This wolf definitely has some fangs now, doesn’t it? Now we’re waiting to see if it can kill some of the established “gods” in the hypercar niche…

Latest Grand Tour Promo Features An Extremely Lucky James May 1
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Amazon, celebrities, commercials, Funny, The Grand Tour, video on 12 1st, 2017

Make that almost lucky, because all the planned mayhem in this video does catch up to him in the end, in a very Looney Tunes type of way.

The Grand Tour continues its tour of teasers on the internet ahead of the show’s season 2 premiere on December 8th, and this time, they went out of their way to show just how resilient (and lucky) James May, aka Captain Slow is.

Not only does he look impervious to tiles and even anvils falling off a building, he also lucks out by not accidentally drinking paint stripper and by not getting smashed into by a train while driving a Fiat Panda.

Speaking of which, we’re not sure if the producers of the show got another car specifically for this commercial, or if that’s actually James’ car. What we do know is that back in 2014, May wrote a column saying that his Panda was on its way out, soon to be replaced by a BMW i3.

Either way, the car is featured heavily in this video, and you might even feel sorry for it at the end. As for the only non-ailing Grand Tour presenter, maybe he should think about starring in a Die Hard reboot.

Honda Compares Kids To Monsters In New Odyssey Ad 28
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in commercials, honda, Honda Odyssey, Honda Videos, video on 11 28th, 2017

Honda’s advertising agency has come up with an action movie-like commercial that highlights the rewards of having an Odyssey.

Aimed at families blessed with two or more children, the minivan has some cool features that come in handy when parents try to settle those little “monsters”, who are depicted as giant Godzillas in the new ad.

“If you’re a parent, you know sometimes your kids can be little monsters. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to keep peace in the Honda Odyssey“, the manufacturer says in the video’s description.

The hilarious approach is the automaker’s way of reminding consumers that the new Odyssey is equipped with Magic Slide second-row seat. It also gets CabinWatch and CabinTalk, which allows the driver and front passenger to communicate easier with the passengers on the two rear rows, and to keep an eye on them via the 8-inch infotainment screen.

Honda opened the order books for the 2018 Odyssey earlier this year. The minivan, which is in its fifth generation, can be had from an MSRP of $30,890, including the $900 destination charge, and comes with a 280hp and 262lb-ft (355Nm) of torque 3.5-liter V6 engine.

Upper grades benefit from a host of equipment, including Rear Entertainment System, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a suite of driver assistance systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Lane Keeping Assist.

BMW Makes Some Bold Claims About The X2 In Their Latest Promo 26
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in BMW Videos, BMW X2, commercials, new cars, video on 11 26th, 2017

It’s a bit far-fetched to claim you can “be unique” by buying a mass produced vehicle such as the new X2, but that’s BMW’s message in the ad that follows.

Their TV commercial, which is shown here in the long version, makes several bold statements, and it even shows the brand’s premium sub-compact crossover destroying a few scale model cubicles in the attempt to make itself more noticeable.

Unveiled nearly a month ago, the BMW X2 is a sportier take on the X1. Its exterior resembles that of a hatchback with a slightly increased ride height, and it follows on the footsteps of the coupe SUV niche of the larger X4 and X6.

Based on the X2 Concept that debuted last year, the production version will become available in several versions, with various equipment, from cloth upholstery to Dakota leather, and from gloss black accents to a panoramic glass roof. It also gets, depending on the specified trim, an 8.8-inch infotainment system, color head-up display, and LED interior lighting, in addition to various wheel sizes that range from 17- to 20-inch.

European customers will have to choose, at launch, from the 192 PS (189 HP) petrol and 190 PS (187 HP) and 231 PS (228 HP) diesels, whereas in the United States, it will be available as the xDrive28i that’s powered by a 2.0-liter petrol engine that’s good enough for 228 HP (231 PS).

Audi’s Holiday Parking Lot Ad Takes Subtle Swipe At Mercedes 17
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in audi, audi rs3, Audi RS7, Audi Videos, commercials, Funny, mercedes, video on 11 17th, 2017

It looks like Audi just couldn’t help themselves from taking another shot at Mercedes-Benz owners in their latest ad for the holidays, titled “Parking Lot.”

The ad itself is pretty fun, fast-paced and realistic, in the sense that trying to find a spot at a shopping mall during holiday season can be an even bigger nightmare than what’s being portrayed here.

Starring in the commercial are two RS-powered Audis, specifically an RS3 sedan and an RS7. Safe to say, there’s not a lot of room to put any significant power down inside a parking garage.

Yet, that’s exactly what the guys behind the wheel did, while trying to find a spot and get their shopping on. Eventually, their mood goes from calm, to stressed out, and in the end, quite desperate.

As for what Audi thinks of Mercedes-Benz owners, midway through the commercial you can see a confused elderly man trying to find his car by pressing the buttons on his key. Then, behind him, you’ll see the trunk open on a Mercedes-Benz saloon, a bit out of focus.

The look of astonishment on the Audi driver’s face is pretty priceless though.

What Makes Mercedes-AMG’s Engines Special? 11
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in AMG, commercials, mercedes, Mercedes AMG, Mercedes Videos, video on 11 11th, 2017

If you’re lucky enough to own an AMG-powered car, one of the things you’ll appreciate most about it is the attention to detail.

In most cases, Mercedes-AMG cars are things you can live with on a day to day basis, providing you with all the luxuries and comfort a regular Mercedes-Benz has to offer, but with a lot more power on tap.

It’s no wonder the company prides itself with the very process it uses in order to build its engines – which are assembled manually by a single AMG master technician. As it turns out, these technicians are also pretty proud of what they do, feeling honored to have their names and signature on each power unit.

AMG currently builds a wide range of engines for Mercedes-Benz flagship models, from 2.0-liter turbocharged inline fours, to the 3.0-liter V6 bi-turbo, the 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo, 6.0-liter V12 bi-turbo and the newer 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo launched back in 2015.

Mercedes has held a controlling interest in AMG ever since 1999, then became sole owner of the company in 2005.

New BMW M3 CS Official Launch Film Is Very Motivational 8
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in BMW, BMW M3, BMW Videos, commercials, new cars, video on 11 8th, 2017

Name your hobby and what gets you going in the morning, and BMW probably has a car for that, with the latest one, the M3 CS, aimed at breaking boundaries.

Part of their M family, it’s the most powerful stock M3 ever, and it follows hot on the heels of the M4 CS, which debuted earlier this year, retaining its 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that makes 460PS (454hp) and 600Nm (443lb-ft) of torque.

Thanks to its clever upgrades, weight saving management, and extra muscle coming from under the hood, the BMW M3 CS posted an identical Nurburgring lap time to the Porsche 911 Turbo: 7 minutes and 38 seconds. This means that it’s just as fast as the Lexus LFA, on the legendary German track, and even faster than the Mercedes McLaren SLR.

So, how do you promote your fastest M3 ever? Why, you drop a very motivational video, of course, which emphasizes the super saloon’s powerful character, and makes enthusiasts dream of it at night, before they will be able to go out and buy one of their own, in the coming months.

Coca-Cola’s New Ad About Saudi Women Driving Splits Opinions 8
Posted by Brad Anderson in commercials, Offbeat News, Reports, video on 11 8th, 2017

Coca-Cola is the latest company to jump on the bandwagon of brands looking to cash in on Saudi Arabia’s decision to permit women to drive from mid-2018.

Numerous car manufacturers have thrown their support behind the move and Coca-Cola has just released an advertisement about the issue. Unsurprisingly, it’s already dividing opinions online.

The ad centers around a Saudi woman being taught how to drive a red Mercedes-Benz. In an attempt to encourage her to drive smoothly, her dad places a bottle of open Coca-Cola on the dashboard. By the end of the commercial, the two are drinking Coke and cruising through the countryside without a care in the world.

Dubbed ‘Change Has A Taste’, some have criticized Coca-Cola for attempting to profit off the country’s historic legislation change. Some have even compared it to Pepsi’s controversial ad starring Kendall Jenner that depicted a police protest being ended by Jenner giving an officer a can of Pepsi.

Interestingly, Coca-Cola has a considerable interest in Saudi Arabia and actually intends on opening a $100 million bottling plant there in 2019.
