2019 Kia Cee’d Hatch Unexpectedly Revealed In Korea 9

While Kia continues to conceal its European 2019 Cee’d prototypes, in Korea, the automaker has circulated an example of the all-new hatch on the road without a single trace of camouflage.

Boasting a sleek Tiger Nose grille and a couple of design traits borrowed from the smaller Rio, the 2019 Cee’d builds on its five-door replacement. The new car features a slightly more dynamic exterior, one you could almost mistake for being German.

These images from FreeCarTok, show that the all-new Cee’d comes with a simpler rear end design, featuring elongated horizontal taillights that are far less bulbous than before.

While it would be a bit of a stretch (no pun intended) calling the new Cee’d a larger version of the Rio, the resemblance between the two can be uncanny, especially if you look at the contours of the body.

As far as technology is concerned, we expect the Cee’d to share its petrol and diesel engines as well as its on-board tech with the Hyundai i30, including turbocharged three-cylinder petrol and a 1.6-liter turbo diesel. It will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, plus safety systems such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection and even Lane Keeping Assist.

We expect the 2019 Cee’d in five-door trim to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March followed by the three-door Pro_Cee’d and a sleeker looking yet practical shooting brake model that was previewed by the Proceed Concept in Frankfurt last fall.

New Kia Cee’d Sportswagon Gears Up For A Possible Geneva Debut 8

Spy photographers have caught the 2018 Kia Cee’d on multiple occasions and now we’re getting our first glimpse at the Sportswagon variant.

Previewed by the Procee’d concept, the production model is heavily camouflaged but we can see it will have a tiger nose grille that is flanked by new headlights with integrated daytime running lights. The wagon also has chrome trim, roof rails, and what appears to be a panoramic glass roof.

The interior will likely echo the standard model so we can expect to find a relatively straightforward cabin with a trick-rimmed steering wheel, metallic accents, and an infotainment system. However, the Sportwagon variant will have a more accommodating interior with additional luggage space.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but choices are expected to mimic the Hyundai i30. As a result, petrol options may include a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder with 120 PS (88 kW) and 171 Nm (126 lb-ft) of torque as well as a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 140 PS (103 kW) and 242 Nm (178 lb-ft) of torque. On the diesel side, there could be a 1.6-liter engine with outputs of 110 PS (80 kW) and 136 PS (110 kW).

The Kia Cee’d is expected to debut at the Geneva Motor Show and reports have suggested the Cee’d Sportswagon could debut at the same time.

Kia Niro EV Spotted Testing Alongside The Kona Electric 6
Nov
Posted by Michael Gauthier in Electric Vehicles, Kia, Kia Niro, Kia Scoops, Scoops on 11 6th, 2017

The Kia Niro has been a surprise hit for the company as it has been outselling the Hyundai Ioniq by nearly 3 to 1 in the United States. The crossover’s appeal is expected to grow in the future as Kia is putting the finishing touches on the Niro EV.

Set to debut early next year, the Niro EV closely resembles the standard model but it has apparently been equipped with a unique front fascia and repositioned fog lights. The model also appears to have a modified rear bumper but it’s hard to be certain underneath all that camouflage. Of course, one of the more noticeable changes is the revised grille which features a charging port.

Little is known about the model but previous reports have suggested the Niro will borrow its powertrain from the Ioniq Electric. The latter vehicle features an electric motor that develops 118 hp (88 kW) and 218 lb-ft (295 Nm) of torque. It is powered by a 28 kWh battery which enables the car to have an EPA-estimated range of 124 miles (199 km).

However, it is interesting to note the vehicle was spied testing alongside the Kona EV which is slated to debut next year with a range in excess of 240 miles (386 km).
