Tesla Model X Stolen In Poland Right After Being Smuggled In From Sweden 20

Unlike the U.S., purchasing a Tesla Model X in Poland isn’t that easy, making the electric SUV somewhat of a unicorn in the country.

Seemingly determined to own a Model X no matter the cost, a group of thieves from Poland have gone to extraordinary lengths to steal one and vanish without a trace, local media reports.

It is understood that the Model X arrived in Poland from Sweden after being stolen. When being unloaded from the ferry, it allegedly rammed the exit barrier and drove away. Authorities were able to track the car down and place it in a guarded parking lot.

Despite these measures, thieves were able to find the parking lot, cut open the fence and steal the vehicle, all while officers shot at SUV a number of times.

It isn’t clear if the people that stole the Model X from the guarded parking lot are the same individuals who brought the car into Poland from Sweden.

RMF24 reports that police are in the process of trying to track down the car and the perpetrators.

This Is How Fast The New Tesla Roadster Really Is 17

It’s one thing to read about a new car’s specs, and a completely different story to experience it firsthand.

However, in the case of the all-new Tesla Roadster, most of us won’t get near it until early next decade, so the only way to check it out right now is by watching these short video posted online.

One of the clips bears Electrek’s name, and it shows Tesla Motors’ sportiest vehicle ever doing a couple of short accelerations, shot via a 360-degree camera, so that you can adjust the angle.

To those that missed our initial coverage of the second generation Tesla Roadster, we will remind you that it packs a 200kWh battery pack. Zero to 60mph (96km/h) takes just 1.9sec, or approximately half a second faster than a Bugatti Chiron, and its digital speedometer will show 100mph (160km/h) after 4.2sec.

Moreover, the initial numbers also reveal that it can run down the quarter mile in 8.9sec, before topping out at over 250mph (402km/h).

This impressive performance comes at a steep price, as the new Tesla Roadster is said to start at $200,000.

After being delayed from its original October 26 debut, Tesla is just minutes away from finally introducing its all-electric Semi, aimed at revolutionizing the trucking industry.

As we await specific details of the Tesla Semi to be announced in the live stream embedded below, it’s worth briefly recapping what reports state we can expect to see.

Most significantly, the Tesla Semi is expected to feature a large lithium-ion battery pack that offers a range of between 200 and 300 miles.

Although specifics about the powertrain remain up in the air, the exterior design of the Tesla Semi is already believed to be out in the open, following shots that captured a prototype without any camoflage. As with Tesla’s current vehicles, the Semi’s design will be minimalist and lack traditional truck design elements, including a front grille.

More details as they come…

Smoking And Relaxing In A Tesla With Autopilot Isn’t Smart 14

In 10-20 years, autonomous cars could be so advanced that human passengers will never have to worry about being involved in an accident. In 2017, however, semi-autonomous vehicles still carry with them a lot of risks.

Ever since Tesla introduced its Autopilot system, we’ve seen videos of owners pushing the limits of the system and placing far too much faith in it. Take Instagram user Lilduval, for example.

A couple of days ago, the social media star shared a video of him reclining in the driver’s seat of his Tesla while smoking and paying absolutely no attention to the road, all while traveling at 75 mph (121km/h). Some believe Lilduval was smoking cannabis at the time but he suggests it was simply a cigar.

Either way, the risks being taken here cannot be underestimated. Sure, Autopilot can be quite reliable on highways but the technology has been blamed for a number of crashes in recent times. Another interesting take away from the clip is how some people seem to have misinterpreted what Autopilot is.

Despite what the name might suggest, the system does not turn a Tesla into a fully-autonomous vehicle. Instead, drivers must always remain attentive because if something goes wrong, the car will rely on the driver to get it out of a sticky situation. It is for this very reason that some companies, including Ford and Google, have opted against semi-autonomous technologies and are instead planning to jump immediately to level 5 systems.

Tesla Model S Shooting Brake Taking Shape In England 13

Since Elon Musk failed to make the Tesla Model S enough of a dog-friendly car, at least one owner chose to take matters into his own hands.

Meet Phil Hayton, a Model S P90D owner who wanted to help his dog fit better in the car. His solution? Cutting into the Model S so that he can turn it into an Estate, or a Shooting Brake, if you will.

In order to breathe life into this project, Hayton went to Norfolk-based coachbuilders QWest, asking them to transform this 4-door Tesla into something more practical and some say, perhaps even better looking.

At least that’s how Jonny Smith feels, a big fan of the family-friendly body style. Over the course of this Fully Charged Show episode, Smith talks to Hayton about the car, as well as to QWest engineering director, Jim Router, who says the Model S Shooting Brake will weigh about the same as the original once he’s done with it.

He also states that he expects it to be as good if not better than the original when it comes to aerodynamics, which is great news for any type of vehicle, not just an electric one.

As for when we can expect the car to be ready, according to Smith it’s going to be in about three weeks time, so stay tuned.

Tesla Model 3 Proves Pretty “Interesting” In Early Review 6

Posted by Michael Gauthier in Electric Vehicles, reviews, Tesla, Tesla Model 3, Tesla Videos, video on 11 6th, 2017

The Tesla Model 3 is one of the most highly sought after vehicles even though it only costs $35,000 before incentives. The company is still in “production hell” and is only building several hundred a month so reviews have been few and far between.

That’s changing today as Doug DeMuro has released a new video where he calls the Model 3 the coolest car of the year. That’s a pretty bold statement but he does have a point by noting thousands of people lined up outside of dealerships to place their reservations similar to how people clamored over the latest iPhone.

In usual fashion, DeMuro highlight’s the car quirks including its lack of a traditional key. Instead, the car senses your phone and unlocks as you approach it and locks as you walk away. Of course, the Model 3 also comes with a credit card-style key which allows friends and family members access to the vehicle without giving them your phone.

The car also has a pretty cool charging port which is integrated into the rear taillights. Other neat features include a “frunk,” flush door handles, and a massive trunk with a mini skylight.

The interior is minimalistic as the dashboard is dominated by a strip of wood trim and a large infotainment system display which is impressively responsive. DeMuro goes on to note the rear seats are pretty roomy but the rear windows only roll down about half way. Other highlights include hidden climate control vents and a phone charging area below the infotainment screen.

When it comes time to drive the Model 3, DeMuro is impressed with the acceleration and responsive steering. He also says the ride quality is decent and there aren’t any squeaks or rattles that would hint at quality problems. Of course, everything isn’t perfect as DeMuro doesn’t like that the speedometer and other gauges have been moved to the infotainment system.

Watch How Robots Build The Tesla Model 3 6

Ever wondered what Tesla’s highly-automated production line looks like in real life? Wonder no more, as a video reveals just that.

This clip, filmed at the brand’s Fremont factory, showcases many of the advanced robots Tesla has employed to make the Model 3 a reality. Although things are behind schedule, the factory itself is very impressive.

Among the most intriguing parts of the Model 3’s production is that robots handle almost everything, including the installation of the seats and dashboard, components which are generally installed by humans with the help of robotic arms. When installing the dash, we can also see how it fits in place as a single unit that includes the large central touchscreen.

Sadly, for the 500,000-odd customers to have placed deposits on the Model 3, all this fancy production equipment means nothing until their vehicles are delivered. Elon Musk recently confirmed that volume production of the Model 3 won’t commence until late in the first quarter of 2018, approximately three months later than initially promised.
