Dust Cloud Causes Crash In Australia, Car Written Off 23
Nov
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Accidents, Australia, Offbeat News, video on 11 23rd, 2017

This accident is a perfect example of why drivers should slow down when there’s poor road visibility of any type, whether it’s rain, snow, fog or dust.

Judging by what the dashcam is showing, the car wasn’t traveling particularly fast. It was doing between 60 and 65 km/h, but if he had slowed down to around 40km/h tops, it should have helped him stop relatively quickly in the event of an emergency.

Those same numbers show that the driver failed to decelerate fast enough, and maintained his speed as he entered the dust cloud. It’s an unfortunate accident that could have been avoided.

“I had been following for 30 minutes and constantly slowing while waiting for dust to clear. The truck stopped on the road but never put on lights or hazards. The dust never cleared like I expected and I saw it too late. I tried to swerve, but still hit him. This resulted in the car being written off. There were no injuries.”

As for where and when this happened, it was last week in Normanton, Queensland, which is in Northern Australia. Good thing nobody was hurt.

Aftermath Videos Of A Totaled McLaren 570S In London 23

A McLaren 570S is no more, after it was crashed under unverified circumstances.

The accident reportedly happened in central London, a couple of weeks ago, and judging by the videos that follow, the British supercar appears to be damaged beyond repair.

Its front end is ruined, and so are the rest of its sides, while it’s also missing a wheel and the suspension. Moreover, it seems that the engine bay has suffered significant damages of its own, but the passenger compartment has remained in one piece, suggesting that the occupant(s) might have walked away.

One of the videos’ description might give us a clue as to what exactly happened, as it says: “this crazy guy [McLaren 570S driver] hit a war pensioner, then ran from the scene”. If that’s indeed the case, then there’s a good chance that at the time of reporting this story, the driver had been identified.

It hasn’t been a McLaren-loving month, as this incident joins another one in which a P1 was extensively damaged in Cambodia, whereas in Georgia, USA, a man was taken into custody after speeding in his 720S on the State Route 400.

Cyclist Hits Unsuspecting Man Working On BMW, Cursing Ensues 20

It might not be as deadly as a car, but hitting somebody with your bicycle is still very dangerous, especially if the victim is already in a compromised position.

The man in the video was crouching down while working on an E60 BMW 5-Series, completely unaware there was an out of control cyclist heading his way.

The fact that he had his head all the way inside the wheel well seems to have resulted in some type of head injury, although it’s hard to assess if there was anything wrong with him afterwards.

He immediately started cursing out the cyclist, so be mindful of the language while playing this video.

On one hand, we can certainly understand his anger. Suddenly banging your head on your own car can’t be pleasant, especially when someone else is to blame and you’re still in somewhat of a shock. Then again, obscene language and violence (he later took his frustration out on the bicycle) aren’t appropriate either.

Do note that some people are suggesting this incident was staged, which is a possibility. We’d actually prefer it if it was genuine though, and the guy on the bike didn’t crash into that man on purpose.

Macau Grand Prix Marred By Massive Pile Up 20

Every year, the Guia Circuit plays host to the spectacular Macau Grand Prix.

The street circuit is ranked by many racing drivers as one of the most challenging tracks on the planet and it’s easy to see why. Just like Monaco, the circuit is dominated by narrow streets, no run-off areas and long straights. Make one mistake, and you’re in the wall.

During the FIA GT World Cup event at the circuit this weekend, 16 of the 20 cars in the race were forced to retire after being involved in a massive pile-up.

Footage of the crash shows a Mercedes-AMG GT3 car in fourth position understeering into a tire barrier. The car immediately behind him, another AMG GT3, managed to drive around but for the other 15 cars behind, a crash was unavoidable.

Following the incident, officials were forced to red flag the event for over an hour. When the race resumed, four of the cars involved in the crash were repaired and joined the four lucky drivers to avoid the carnage.

A woman from Lancaster County in Pennsylvania has been arraigned on charges of arson and risking a catastrophe after setting her Ford Taurus on fire after it broke down.

In an affidavit, state police trooper Adam Zinn said he was dispatched to a parking lot near the Donegal interchange over a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arriving at the scene, Zinn said he was met at the scene by 36-year-old Amanda B Silliman who admitted to setting the car on fire because she was angry it broke down.

“Silliman related that once her car broke down in the parking lot she became angry at it. Silliman stated that she took a pink T-shirt and sprayed it with body spray… then stuffed the T-shirt in the gas tank filler neck and ignited the shirt on fire,” Zinn mentioned in his affidavit.

Trib Live reports that Silliman’s 2002 Taurus was destroyed by the blaze. Additionally, Zinn alleges that firefighters from the Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department were endangered by the blaze.

In addition to the aforementioned charges, Silliman has been charged with criminal mischief, possession of incendiary materials, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

A McLaren P1 has been badly damaged in Cambodia after the transport truck that was carrying it collided with another truck.

According to a local newspaper, the truck carrying the expensive British hypercar slammed into another large truck carrying goods from Phnom Penh to Andoung Tuek.

Speaking to the media, police chief of the local Botum Sakor district, Sok Thorn, said the cause of the crash was still being investigated and no one has come forward as the owner of the expensive McLaren, restricted to just 375 examples worldwide. Five people were injured in the crash.

Images and video from the scene reveal that the P1, which appears to have a chrome wrap, sustained some damage in the crash. More specifically, much of the front end appears to have been crushed by the truck.

Despite the damage, the owner of the P1 will most likely have it shipped back to Woking for repairs.

Taking a fast rear-wheel drive car to the track in slippery conditions might not always be a good idea, especially when talking about the Nurburgring, which has very little runoff space between the tarmac and its barriers.

This is probably one of the slowest and most unfortunate incidents you’ll see all year. The driver was clearly being careful with his speed, but was caught off-guard by the treacherous conditions upon exiting that right-hand corner.

Luckily, the M3 poked the barrier with little force, and as far as we can see, there wasn’t a lot of damage to the car. Still, after the repair bill comes in, it might be best to keep this 431 PS (425 HP) sports sedan away from cold and wet surfaces.

Watch Car Spontaneously Flip Over In Bizarre Accident 14
Nov

While these types of incidents might look mysterious at first, the culprit is almost always some type of cable or another type of obstruction that went unnoticed by the driver.

So no, there’s no need to call Scooby Doo for this one, since the description of the video pretty much shuts down any wild theory that might have fired up the comments section.

Apparently, “a large construction vehicle had earlier damaged some power-lines. The vehicle that flipped must have somehow latched onto those downed power-lines to cause the flip.”

Of course, from our angle, and because of the poor image quality, we really can’t see any power lines, which just adds to the bizarre nature of the incident, which occurred in Moscow.

We also don’t know anything about the status of the driver or any potential occupants, but we’re hopeful injuries were kept at bay with the help of seat belts.

14 Cars Damaged In Crazy Chain Reaction Crash On The Nurburgring 13

The Nürburgring has seen plenty of accidents over the years and a video recently uploaded to Facebook shows how quickly a minor incident can spiral out of control.

Road & Track reports the chain reaction crash occurred on November 1st when Porsche 911 GT3 RS blew a coolant line on the Hatzenbach section of the track.

As you can see in the video, the driver is rounding a corner when he suddenly sees smoke on the horizon. He pulls over to the side of the track and waits for a handful of cars to pass before exiting his vehicle. He then jumps the guard rail and attempts to warn oncoming cars about the danger.

This doesn’t exactly go as planned as the coolant has made the track pretty slick and a number of cars cannot stop in time. This is practically true of the Porsche 911 that slams into the car of the videographer. Unfortunately, the chaos doesn’t stop there as we can see and hear several other collisions involving an Audi TT and a BMW.

Bridge to Gantry notes 14 different vehicles were involved in the chain reaction crash and two divers had to be hospitalized with minor injuries.

Sehr trauriger Crash.
Es heißt nicht umsonst Grüne Hölle..
Respekt an den Typen, direkt super gehandelt und mit Sicherheit einige Menschenleben gerettet! So einer sollte ausgezeichnet werden – die meisten würden nur an sich selbst denken.

And That’s Why We Never Park Too Close To Train Tracks 13
Nov
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Accidents, Offbeat News, Train, video on 11 13th, 2017

Since not all train tracks are properly separated from roads or residential areas, people need to pay attention once they hear that horn in the distance.

This accident took place in Hanoi, Vietnam, when somebody was careless enough to park their vehicle way too close to the tracks. By the time they even reacted to what was happening, it was too late to do anything about it.

According to the description of the video, the driver of the small truck was “sitting on the pavement opposite to the trail,” and didn’t do anything when he heard the horn.

As you can see at the end of the clip, the vehicle’s entire right side is almost completely destroyed. Damage includes the passenger door getting ripped open, front bumper torn apart, a broken windshield, plus the entire cab getting deformed.

It’s a good thing nobody was inside the vehicle at the time, otherwise, this could have been a lot worse.

Watch A BMW 7-Series Hacked Back From The Dead 11

Knowing how expensive it can be to repair badly damaged cars, most insurance company’s write-off a car before sending it to a body shop, even if the car has a tiny crack in the frame.

However, there are some cars on the streets which have been crushed and crumpled yet somehow repaired to look brand new. Being well-versed with a hammer and not much else when it comes to working on a car, we’ve always wondered what it takes to perform such a repair. The video below shows just that.

Posted online by a man named Arthur Tussik, this 20-minute video details the 27-day repair of a BMW 7-Series that came into his shop with extreme damage to the front and side.

Throughout the clip, we see Tussik restore life to the 7-Series like a brain surgeon in an operating theater. From straightening out the BMW’s crash structure and somehow re-shaping the crumpled body, Tussik literally gives this 7-Series a new lease on life.

Inevitably, the repaired car isn’t as structurally sound as a new car so we wouldn’t recommend purchasing a vehicle that’s suffered so much damage in a previous life. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see what decades of experience of auto body repair can do.

Reckless Overtaking Maneuver Ends In Pain 11

Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Accidents, Dashcam, Offbeat News, video on 11 11th, 2017

It’s bad enough to risk passing another vehicle when the coast is not clear, but making things worse by not halting your attempt and forcing the overtake is inexcusable.

This incident was captured on dashcam last week, and shows a station wagon going off-road in order to complete overtaking a bunch of slower semi trucks.

That’s when the driver lost control of the car and ended up underneath the trailer of one of those semis. It was also a close call for the dashcam car, which had to leave the road in order to avoid a collision with the skidding wagon.

The driver of an old Peugeot 3008 wasn’t as lucky, as he got clipped by the out of control car. Thankfully the Peugeot didn’t hit anything else, and simply spun before coming to a halt.

While we hope that nobody was harmed, and this includes whoever was inside of that rogue station wagon, we still need to condemn the person behind the wheel for their reckless actions.

Toxic Smog So Bad In India That It Led To A 24-Car Pile-Up With Six Injured, One Dead 9
Nov
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Accidents, India, Offbeat News, Reports, video on 11 9th, 2017

One person lost their life and at least six others were injured after 24 vehicles slammed into each other due to extremely dense fog, on the Yamuna Expressway outside of Delhi.

According to NDTV, Indian authorities were forced to declare a public health emergency after the air quality index (measuring the concentration of toxic particulate matter in the air) shot up to 451.

To put that into perspective, health experts say that particulate matter in the air shouldn’t go above 100, and that the scale doesn’t even extend past 500 – this should give you an idea how bad of a situation this is.

Traffic was obviously impacted as well, as this rather scary pile-up occurred Wednesday morning at around 6:30 AM, near milestone 125.

“One person was killed and six people were injured. All the injured have been sent to district government hospital for treatment. The deceased is yet to be identified,” said officer Alok Dubey.

“The trigger of the accident was a defunct car which was rammed from behind by a speeding truck. The truck was ferrying apple cartons and it turned turtle after the collision. Since it was a heavily dense morning, over a dozen cars and heavy trucks kept on piling up on each other in a back-to-back collision,” added station officer G P Singh.

The police and expressway personnel managed to clear the road by removing the damaged vehicles with the help of a crane, reports Times of India.
