New Kia Stinger Undercuts BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe’s Price By Over $11,000 16
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Kia, Kia Stinger, prices on 11 16th, 2017

Kia’s highly anticipated Stinger sports sedan is expected in U.S. dealerships next month, spread across five available trim levels.

The entry-level Stinger is priced from $31,900, while the Stinger Premium starts at $37,100, the Stinger GT at $38,350, and the GT1 and GT2 at $43,250 and $49,200 respectively. Adding all-wheel drive means spending an extra $2,000, and then you’ve got the $900 destination charge.

That’s significantly less than other premium sports cars in the segment, such as the 4-cylinder turbocharged 430i that starts from $43,100 or the Audi A5 Sportback that is priced from $42,600. The V6-powered GT is also cheaper than its theoretical rivals, as the 440i GC starts from $49,500 (not taking into consideration any differences in equipment).

“Although the Stinger is unlike any other Kia that has come before it in terms of pure driving enjoyment, it is still very much a traditional Kia in that it offers consumers a very compelling value proposition, providing excellent performance and handling, premium features and functionality when compared to its much higher-priced competitors,” said KMA exec, Orth Hedrick.

Purchasing the base Stinger model means getting a passive suspension tuned for a balanced ride. Meanwhile, GT models are available with Kia’s electronically controlled Dynamic Stability Damping Control, as well as Brembo brakes.

The entry-level audio system for the 2.0-liter turbo features six speakers and a 7″ color touchscreen, while the standard system found in the GT trim boasts 9 speakers and comes with an external amplifier. If that’s still not enough, you can also get an optional Harman/Kardon audio system with Surround Sound technology.

Powering the base Stinger and Premium trims is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot, good for 255 HP and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque, whereas the GT versions get a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, producing 365 HP and 376 lb-ft (494 Nm) of torque. Both units work alongside an eight-speed rear-drive automatic transmission.

  • Stinger starts at $31,9002
  • Stinger Premium starts at $37,1002
  • GT starts at $38,3502
  • GT1 starts at $43,2502
  • GT2 starts at $49,2002
  • All-wheel drive: $2,200
  • Destination: $900

Infiniti Details 2018 QX80 Full-Size SUV, Priced From $64,750 14
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Dubai Motor Show, Galleries, Infiniti, Infiniti QX80, Middle East, new cars, prices on 11 14th, 2017

Infiniti’s redesigned QX80 has finally been unveiled at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show, boasting a high-quality cabin, advanced drive-assist technologies and a 400HP 5.6-liter V8.

The QX80 will begin production at the automaker’s Kyushu factory in Japan, and is expected to go on sale in select Infiniti markets across North America, Asia, Western Europe and the Middle East at the end of this year.

“The new Infiniti QX80 has been designed and engineered to allow customers to travel everywhere in luxury. Our flagship SUV features a high-quality, hand-crafted interior, creating a driver-centric, passenger-minded space for inclusive, modern luxury travel,” said company VP, Christian Meunier.

Measuring 210.2 inches (5,339 mm) in length, 75.8 inches (1,925 mm) tall with roof rails and 79.9 inches (2,029 mm) wide, the new QX80 should offer a commanding road-presence, not to mention enough space to seat either 7 or 8 passengers.

Visually, the SUV now appears longer, with a more purposeful front end, featuring functional fenders that maximize air delivery to the engine. The headlights were designed to wrap around the corners of the hood and into the fenders, allowing for a straight shoulder line design that runs from the grille all the way to the rear of the car.

Speaking of the rear, it features sharper and thinner lights and a raised lower bumper section, helping the car appear wider, taller and “more athletic” than its predecessor.

“Infiniti’s design DNA has been scaled up for our largest SUV. The 2018 QX80 combines its commanding new presence with powerful muscularity and enhanced horizontal movement. Our designers raised the visual height of our iconic ‘double-arch’ grille and signature headlamps, striking an unrivaled on-road premium tonality,” said Alfonso Albaisa, senior VP of global design.

Step inside the 2018 QX80 and you might agree that it’s one of the most “luxurious, highest-quality passenger compartments created by Infiniti to date,” – or at least that’s how the automaker views it.

The interior is finished in a range of rich new materials, as quilted leather has been used on not just the seats, but also the door panels and armrests. As for the different interior trims available, aside from the standard Stratford Burl gloss wood trim, QX80 models with Graphite leather are also offered with a dark brown Espresso Burl. Meanwhile, models with Wheat or Saddle Brown upholstery are available with an even darker Charcoal Burl trim.

Moving past all the soft materials and cabin aesthetics, the QX80 also offers a suite of advanced driver assistance features such as Backup Collision Intervention, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), Distance Control Assist, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention.

The 2018 QX80 is available in both 2WD as well as 4WD, both versions using a 400 HP 5.6-liter DOHC V8 engine. Models with 4WD also feature’s Infiniti’s All-Mode system with computer-controlled transfer case and three settings (Auto, 4H and 4L), and are priced from $67,850, whereas the 2WD version starts at $64,750.

Seat’s Most Powerful Leon Cupra R Limited To Just 24 Examples In The UK 14
Posted by Michael Karkafiris in new cars, prices, Seat, Seat Leon Cupra, UK on 11 14th, 2017

Seat’s most powerful road car to date, the new Leon Cupra R, will also be one of its most exclusive as well as they will build 799 examples, with just 24 of them allocated to the UK.

Technically speaking if you want to have the most powerful Seat of all time, then you must order the Leon Cupra R with the six-speed manual option as only then it offers the full 310PS (306hp). UK customers have this problem solved for them as all examples destined for their market are manual only.

Seat will build 499 manual Cupra Rs in total, with the rest 300 units fitted with a six-speed DSG, which drops the power figure to a round 300PS (296hp). Both versions are front-wheel drive and fitted with the adaptive DCC suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential.

Priced at £34,995 OTR, the new Seat Leon Cupra R can be distinguished from its lesser siblings by the carbon and copper detailing outside, along with copper-black 19-inch alloy wheels. There are two metallic paint options: Monsoon Grey or Midnight Black and they are included in the price.

The interior also gets upgraded with the same copper treatment on the dashboard, center console and door panel stitching while other touches include Alcantara for the steering wheel, gear lever and front bucket seats. An obligatory numbered plaque is also present.

Technical differences are also present, with the Leon Cupra R coming with a reprogrammed adaptive steering system, modified camber angles for the front axle, new Brembo brakes and a retuned exhaust that allows a racier note from the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. 0-62mph comes in 5.8 seconds while top speed is an electronically limited 155mph (250km/h).

UK orders have opened with Seat expecting to deliver the first of the 24 Leon Cupra Rs in January 2018.

Posted by Michael Karkafiris in new cars, nissan, Nissan NV300, prices on 11 14th, 2017

Nissan has announced pricing details on its 2018 NV Cargo and Passenger vans which now are enhanced with more tech features.

The differences are small but are expected to make everyday life with the 2018 Nissan NV easier: new models now come with features like a standard rearview monitor and a 5.0-inch color display, a Bluetooth hands-free system, streaming audio via Bluetooth, a hands-free text messaging assistant, and a USB connection port for iPods and other compatible devices.

Powertrain options still include the entry-level 261hp 4.0-liter V6 paired to a five-speed automatic transmission and the 375hp 5.6-liter V8 mated to a heavy-duty seven-speed automatic unit. All 2018 NV Cargo and Passenger vans are covered by a bumper-to-bumper warranty of 5 years/100,000 miles.

The Cargo version is offered in three models -NV1500, NV2500 HD and NV3500 HD- and in two roof configurations -standard and high-roof. Prices start at $30,025 (inc. destination and handling fee), which makes it $1,100 more expensive than last year’s model.

As for the 2018 NV3500 HD Passenger van, it still offers four rows of seating for up to 12 passengers, making ideal for both personal and fleet use. There are plenty of seating configurations for every need as well as roof-mounted supplemental airbags in case of a side impact. Pricing for the Passenger model starts at $35,050 for the V6-powered model.

GM’s Latest SUV, The Wuling Hong Guang S3, Costs Less Than $9,000 10
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in china, GM, new cars, prices, SAIC, SUV on 11 10th, 2017

If you live in China, for a mere RMB 56,800, which comes out to just $8,558 at the current exchange rates, you could get GM’s latest SUV, the Wuling Hong Guang S3.

This makes it more affordable than the entry-level Ford Fiesta on our side of the pond, and it stays that way even in its range-topping guise, which can be had at RMB 81,800 ($12,325).

However, there’s a major catch here, because the Wuling Hong Guang S3 is a China-only vehicle, made by the automotive giant’s local joint venture, SAIC-GM-Wuling, so don’t expect to see it in Western markets, not now, not ever.

For what it’s worth, the Wuling Hong Guang S3 has an exterior design reminiscent of old Chevys and Daewoos, but it has been adorned with LED DRLs integrated on the sides of the front bumper, fog lamps, and a floating-style roofline.

Inside it gets a clean layout, with dual-tone leather trim depending on the selected grade, an 8-inch LCD screen, large electronic instrument display, and a quartz clock, for what the automaker describes as an added “sense of luxury”. It has a 2+2+3 seating layout, and all three rows of seats have their own air-conditioning vents and USB ports.

Based on the same platform as the Hong Guang MPV, the SUV also features a multi-link independent rear suspension, and some safety features such as ESC, hill-start hold control, cruise control, and others.

The engine family includes two members: naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions of a 1.5-liter unit.

New Performance Pack For 2018 VW Golf R Pushes Top Speed Up To 168MPH 9
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in new cars, prices, UK, VW, VW Golf R on 11 9th, 2017

Volkswagen has launched a new Performance Pack for the UK market 2018 Golf R, which not only de-restricts top speed, but also shaves some pounds and adds a few extras.

Available as an option for the DSG versions of the Golf R hatch and estate, it includes an upgraded braking system that shaves 2 kilograms (4.4 lbs), 19-inch Spielberg alloy wheels that replace the stock 18-inch Cadiz rims, and in the case of the hatch, a new tailgate-mounted spoiler.

Moreover, specifying the Performance Pack to the latest iteration Volkswagen Golf R means that top speed will increase in both hatch and wagon variants of the vehicle, from 155mph (250km/h), to 166mph (267km/h) and 168mph (270km/h), respectively.

Pricing of the Performance Pack stars at £2,300 ($3,020) in the United Kingdom, where the Golf R can be had from £32,710 ($42,949) with a manual or £33,995 ($44,636) with an automatic gearbox, and the Estate costs at least £35,700 ($46,875) and comes exclusively with a DSG transmission.

Customers looking for an additional extra can select the new exhaust system that complements the Pack. Developed by Akrapovic, it costs £2,975 ($3,906) and drops another 7kg or 15.4 lbs. It features round tailpipes rather than oval, and valve control technology that’s said to enhance the deep sound of the car.

Land Rover are introducing new technology features, updated driver assistance systems, plus more powertrain and design options for the 2018 Discovery in the States.

Prices start from $52,090 for the entry-level SE model, which now gets Land Rover’s InControl Touch Pro sat-nav system with the larger 10″ touchscreen as standard – as does the entire range.

Other tech-related updates are the 12.3″ Interactive Driver Display TFT instrument cluster as standard on HSE and HSE Luxury models, and the second-generation Head-Up Display, available as an option on the previously-mentioned versions.

In terms of styling, the 2018MY Discovery gains a new Bryon Blue colorway. Furthermore, while vehicles with Dynamic and Black Packs were previously limited to Corris Grey or Narvik Black contrast roofs, 2018 owners can now opt for a body-colored roof for either of these packs at no extra cost.

Moving on to powertrain options, while previously exclusive to HSE and HSE luxury models, the Td6 diesel unit is now also available on the entry-level SE. We’re talking about a 3.0-liter turbodiesel, with 254 HP and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, paired to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.

As for the SUV’s advanced safety and convenience tech, 2018MY cars now feature the automaker’s Emergency Braking system with pedestrian detection as standard – previously available only as a standalone option. Meanwhile, systems such as the optional Advanced Tow Assist or the seven passenger seating options with Seat Fold carry over from the 2017 model year.

Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in new cars, Nismo, nissan, nissan gt-r, prices on 11 3rd, 2017

Nissan has announced the pricing details on the 2018 GT-R family in the United States, which now starts at $99,990, without destination and handling, something that adds another $1,695 to each grade.

The sub-$100k pricing refers to a new entry-level model called Pure, which slots under the Premium, undercutting it by $10,500, and lacking some of its features such as the titanium exhaust, Bose sound system, Active Noise Cancellation, and Active Sound Enhancement.
