2019 Lexus LS Launches In The U.S. Priced Cheaper Than Old Model 15
Posted by Michael Karkafiris in Hybrids, LEXUS, Lexus LS, new cars, prices on 01 15th, 2018

Lexus is launching the new LS luxury sedan in the US market with an entry price that’s actually cheaper than its predecessor.

The new Lexus LS starts from $75,995, including a $995 destination and handling fee, making it $3,820 cheaper than the outgoing long-wheelbase model. The hybrid LS 500h has a starting price of $80,505.

The launch of the company’s new flagship sedan will be accompanied by a new commercial during the 2018 Super Bowl next month.

“The 2018 LS is one of the most important launches in our brand’s history, so it makes sense for us to use a stage like the Super Bowl to showcase it to our customers. The LS not only offers unsurpassed performance, style and luxury, its competitive pricing makes it a great value as well,” said Lexus Group Vice President and Division General Manager, Jeff Bracken.

Based on the company’s latest GA-L platform, the new Lexus LS is offered with an all-new twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 416hp and 442lb-ft of torque, 30hp and 75lb-ft more than its naturally aspirated V8 predecessor.

The hybrid LS500h uses the same Multistage Hybrid System that debuted in the LC500h Coupe, combining a 3.5-liter V6 that runs on the Atkinson cycle with two electric motors for a total of 354hp.

Every new Lexus LS model comes loaded with the Safety System+ as standard. This includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent High Beam headlamps, Lane Departure Alert and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Keep Assist. Customers can opt for the Lexus Safety System+ A that adds Pedestrian Alert, Active Steering Assist, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Road Sign Assist, Lane Departure Alert with road edge detection and the semi-autonomous Lexus CoDrive which combines Lane Trace Assist and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Infiniti’s 2019 QX50 Takes On BMW X3 From $36,550, On Sale This Spring 15
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Infiniti, Infiniti QX50, prices on 01 15th, 2018

Since the 2019 QX50 crossover won’t make it into Infiniti retailers nationwide until Spring 2018, the automaker is also introducing a new reservation program.

This gives customers the opportunity to reserve their car during the pre-launch phase, but also to receive tech, audio or home-themed luxury gifts as the reservations increase.

“The 2019 QX50 is one of the most significant product launches in INFINITI’s history, which is why we created a reservation program as sophisticated and innovative as the vehicle itself,” said Infiniti marketing exec, Phil O’Connor.

“We know that our customers want more than just material things, they want meaningful experiences. That’s why the rewards are more than just incentives. The gifts are well-suited for the luxury lifestyle, and the reservation program is designed to help build a sense of community.”

The program has been split up into tiers, so that the more people who reserve a car, the greater these incentives will be. The first tier has already been unlocked as reservations exceeded 4,000. The second tier will be unlocked at 8,000 reservations, while the third tier needs 12,000 reservations.

Prices for the all-new 2019 QX50 start at $36,550 if you go for the Pure FWD model, and will climb all the way to $45,150 for the flagship Essential AWD version.

On-board the QX50 you’ll find the available ProPILOT Assist as well as the first FWD application of Infiniti’s Direct Adaptive Steering system. Additional tech includes Distance Control Assist, Back-up Collision Intervention, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Intervention, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention and Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.

As for what’s underneath the hood – it’s the world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine, the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo petrol.

Order The New Honda Civic Diesel From £20,120 In Britain 15
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in diesel, honda, Honda Civic, new cars, prices, UK on 01 15th, 2018

Joining the rest of the Civic range in the United Kingdom is the new diesel model, which will arrive at dealers nationwide next month.

Pricing for the diesel starts at £20,120 ($27,620), in the new entry-level ‘S’ grade (with 6-speed manual), but consumers will be able to specify it in the SE, SR, and EX trim levels as well, like they would the 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol model.

The EX starts from £24,925 ($34,216) and can be had with an optional Tech Pack, for £600 ($824), which adds a few amenities such as the LED headlights with washers, LED fog lamps, heated rear seats, and wireless phone charging.

“The arrival of the diesel variant completes the lineup for the Civic hatchback in the UK. This 1.6-liter i-DTEC is the most technologically advanced diesel unit we have launched to market, and will deliver a very competitive offering for both the retail customer and the fleet market”, commented Honda UK’s chief, Phil Webb.

This version of the Honda Civic uses a 1.6-liter unit that delivers 120PS (118hp) and 300Nm (221lb-ft) of torque to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. It takes 10.4sec to reach 100km/h (62mph) from a standstill, and promises to return 76.3 UK mpg (3.7 l/100 km / 63.6 US mpg), while releasing just 99 g/km of CO2 into the atmosphere.

If you would rather have an automatic transmission paired with the Civic diesel’s engine, then you need to wait until early summer, when Honda will launch it across Britain.

Chevy Opens Camaro Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Order Books Next Month 13
Posted by Michael Gauthier in Chevrolet, Chevrolet Camaro, prices, USA on 01 13th, 2018

Chevrolet has announced that the 2018 Camaro Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition will be available for order from February 1st.

Originally unveiled last fall, this special edition of the Camaro features a Crush orange exterior that draws inspiration from the Hot Wheels tracks that many of us grew up with as kids. The model also has a Satin Graphite ground effect package as well as Satin Graphite stripes with Silver Ice Metallic accents.

The exterior styling changes don’t stop there, as designers installed a revised grille with a black bowtie emblem and Galvano chrome inserts. Other changes include tinted taillights, special fender badges, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with unique center caps.

The interior largely carries over from the regular Camaro, but there are a handful of touches that separate the special edition from the standard model. These include illuminated doorsill plates, orange kneepads, two-tone leather seats, special floor mats with orange stitching and a 50th Anniversary Hot Wheels badge on the steering wheel.

The Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition is based on the Camaro 2LT and 2SS and the package costs an additional $4,995 over those models’ MSRP, which means potential customers should expect to spend at least $35,000.

Mercedes GLC 350e PHEV Priced From $49,990 In The U.S. 11
Posted by Michael Gauthier in mercedes, Mercedes GLC, PHEV, prices, Reports, USA on 01 11th, 2018

Mercedes might have given up on diesel engines in the United States but its plug-in hybrid lineup continues to grow as the company has released pricing information for the 2018 GLC 350e.

Car and Driver reports the model will go sale this summer and a listing on the company’s website reveals pricing will start at $49,990. That’s $7,940 more than the GLC 300 4MATIC but the crossover is eligible for a $4,460 federal tax credit which lowers the difference to $3,480.

In return, buyers will receive a nicely equipped crossover that features LED lighting units, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a power liftgate. The model also has privacy glass, a rearview camera, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Moving into the cabin, drivers will sit behind a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and find themselves surrounding by natural grain brown ash wood trim. Other highlights include a 14-way power driver seat, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and an infotainment system with a 7-inch display.

Power is provided by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack. This setup enables the crossover to produce a combined output of 320 hp (238 kW) and 413 lb-ft (559 Nm) of torque. In terms of performance, the all-wheel drive model can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.2 seconds.

Mercedes hasn’t released fuel economy data but the crossover’s battery can be recharged in less than 2.5 hours. The model also has a number of eco-friendly features including a haptic accelerator pedal which pulses twice in ECO mode to let drivers know they can “save fuel without reducing performance by letting up on the gas.” The GLC also has a radar-based regenerative braking system which automatically adjusts itself to recuperate as much energy as possible.

Lotus Launches New Sub 4-Second Evora GT410 Sport 11
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in Lotus, Lotus Evora, new cars, prices, UK on 01 11th, 2018

Lotus came out with a new GT410 Sport model that officially replaces the older Evora Sport 410, while also drawing from the GT430 to provide drivers with advanced aerodynamics and a sleeker silhouette.

Like Lotus’ GT430, the GT410 Sport comes with new composite front and rear body panels, and while it doesn’t have any of the high downforce elements of its track-focused sibling, it still generates 50% more downforce than its predecessor.

Powering the Evora GT410 Sport is a supercharged 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine, producing 416 PS (410 HP) and 420 Nm (309 lb-ft) of torque from 3,500 rpm. It also has a dry weight of just 1,256 kg (2,769 lbs).

The result of this is a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds for the automatic version, and 4-seconds flat for the manual.

“We are continually exploring new ideals, innovating and evolving our cars in pursuit of perfection. The new Evora GT410 Sport takes the lessons learned from the development of the GT430 to deliver something outstanding and highly capable,” stated Lotus CEO, Jean-Marc Gales.

The GT410 Sport also has a power-to-weight ratio of 326 HP/tonne and a top speed of 305 km/h (190 mph). Grip comes courtesy of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, while the ultra-light, low-sideload springs and Bilstein sports dampers are all fitted as standard.

Lotus will also give you a touring suspension package as a free optional extra, featuring non-adjustable dampers and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Customers from European and Asia Pacific markets can already place their orders for the new Evora GT410 Sport, while those living in the U.S. and China will have to wait until the summer.

Whereas UK buyers will spend upwards of £85,900 for it, those living in either Germany, France or Italy will have to fork over €110,900, €111,900 and €116,000 to Lotus respectively.

Kia Soul EV Gets Larger Battery, Improved Range For New MY 11
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in Electric Vehicles, Galleries, Kia, Kia Soul, new cars, prices, Reports on 01 11th, 2018

The electric version of the Kia Soul has entered its fourth year in the market, and changes made to it are quite considerable.

Quoting a document posted by EPA, InsideEVs states that the 2018 Kia Soul EV has a new 30kWh battery that replaces the old 27kWh version.

The extra 3kWh allow it to travel up to 111 miles (179km) on a single charge, or 18 miles (29km) longer than before, which bumps its combined MPGe to 108 from 105. Its range may not be as impressive as the Chevrolet Bolt’s 238 miles (383km), but is believed to help Kia sell more examples of the zero-emission Soul.

Previously available from an MSRP of $32,250, the Kia Soul EV has become a tad more expensive for the 2018MY, as it can be had from $33,950, as confirmed by the car marque’s official USA website. Opt for the 2018 Kia Soul EV+, though, with its extensive list of features, including leather trimmed seats, Park Assist, and others, and get ready to pay at least $35,950.

Kia Adds Picanto X-Line Edition To UK Lineup, Priced From £12,595 11
Posted by Sergiu Tudose in AEB, Kia, Kia Picanto, prices, UK on 01 11th, 2018

Kia’s all-new Picanto X-Line goes on sale today, boasting SUV-inspired visuals and a 1.25-liter petrol engine.

The £12,595 price tag refers to the 1.25 petrol and five-speed manual pairing, whereas the four-speed automatic option is available for an additional £650.

In X-Line trim, the Picanto is longer, wider and taller than conventional city cars, and features rugged looks and an increased ground clearance, by approximately 15 mm (0.59 inches).

Lime green highlights on the grille and fog lamp surrounds help the Picanto X-Line stand out, as does the black cladding around the side sills and wheel arches. Meanwhile, the exterior door handles are finished in body color, while the twin exhaust outlets, 16″ alloys, shark-fin antenna and LED lights give the car a more aggressive look.

Inside, it has lime green stitching on the flat-bottomed steering wheel, gear lever and armrests, a 7″ touchscreen display with DAB radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus faux leather upholstery, satin chrome interior door handles, stainless steel pedals with rubber inserts, cruise control, automatic air conditioning and keyless entry.

In addition, the Picanto X-Line is also fitted with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) as standard.

The 1.25-liter four-cylinder engine in the Picanto X-Line serves up 83 horses and 122 Nm (90 lb-ft) of torque, and was extensively re-engineered for the launch of the all-new Picanto last year.
