2019 Chevrolet Silverado Unveiled Ahead Of Detroit Debut 16

Posted by Michael Gauthier in Chevrolet, Chevrolet Silverado, Detroit-Auto-Show, featured, new cars on 12 16th, 2017

Chevrolet has unveiled the all-new 2019 Silverado ahead of its official debut at the North American International Auto Show.

Shown in the truck’s new Trailboss trim, the images reveal the 2019 Silverado has an evolutionary front fascia with a squared off appearance which hints at its rugged capabilities.

Chevrolet is keeping details under wraps but we can see the truck features LED headlights, a massive grille, and distinctive LED daytime running lights. Moving further back, the Silverado eschews the budging fenders flares of its predecessor for new bodywork which incorporates gentle creases and strong character lines.

The styling changes continue out back as the Silverado adopts a new tailgate which has a massive “Chevrolet” lettering. Other notable changes include new tailgate lights, a dual exhaust system, and a rear bumper with integrated steps on the sides.

We can expect to learn more about the truck next month but it appears the Trailboss variant will feature black accents on the grille, bumpers, and wheels. The model is also slated to have an assortment of off-road focused goodies including a two-inch suspension lift.

Engine options also remain unconfirmed but Chevrolet says the redesigned model uses high-tensile-strength steel and higher-grade alloy materials in its construction. Thanks to these changes, the truck promises to be lighter and more rigid than its predecessor.

3 Minutes Of New BMW M5 Driving Reveal Its Amazing Exhaust Note 16

The first reviews of the new BMW M5 have started flowing in, and with them come a number of videos that reveal the joys of driving the new Bavarian super saloon.

One of them demonstrates the V8 symphony by taking the new M5 out for a short drive on public roads. Now, it seems that the microphone might have been placed near the exhaust instead of the interior, but that doesn’t make the sound any less exciting.

The clip is accompanied by a short caption that reveals the driver’s opinion on the latest M-car. So, according to him, “the M5 sounds proper, louder, more aggressive than before, and a more complete and cohesive symphony, with deeper tones and frightening backfire crackles”.

We bet we’ll soon see a video comparing the sound of the new M5 with that of the Mercedes-AMG E63, which also has a tremendous soundtrack to go with its ballistic performance.

Dec
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in Alpine, Alpine A110, France, new cars, prices, Reports on 12 15th, 2017

All 1,955 units of the Alpine A110 Premiere Edition have been spoken for, but as the delivery date for the regular models is fast approaching, the French car marque has revealed their price.

Estimated to cost between €55,000 and €60,000 ($64,962-$70,867) in its homeland, tax included, it can already be reserved on Android and iOS smartphones and tablests, using the official ‘Automobiles Alpine’ app, found here and here.

For what it’s worth, the Premiere Edition sold for €58,500 ($69,096), with extra features applied to the exterior and interior, alongside a special plaque that reminds users of its limited build number.

You may want to pay extra care when choosing some of the optional extras, though, because one of its main rivals, thebase  Porsche 718 Cayman, starts from €55,040 ($65,009), whereas the ‘S’ guise comes from €67,790 ($80,068).

The Alpine A110 will be available in 12 European countries at first, including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and UK. Its availability will eventually expand to other markets throughout 2018, and it will include Japan as well.

No matter where they live, customers will have to settle for the mid-mounted 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbocharged, which is the sole choice. Shared with the new Renault Megane RS, it delivers 252PS (248hp) and 320Nm (236lb-ft) of torque, thus allowing the French berlinette to reach 100km/h (62mph) in 4.5sec, from a standstill, before tapping out at 250km/h (155mph).

2018 Volvo XC90 Comes With Standard 3-Row Layout In USA 14
Dec
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in new cars, prices, Reports, VOLVO, Volvo XC90 on 12 14th, 2017

Volvo has made a minor adjustment to the XC90 for the 2018MY, though it’s one that could mean a lot to consumers, as all versions of the mid-size SUV now get a 3-row layout, at no additional cost.

Adding the extra seats in the boot is standard even on the base T5 trim level, reports CarsDirect, as confirmed by the online configurator, which gives the Swedish vehicle a clear advantage over the BMW X5, whose third-row is available as an optional extra.

The additional seats fold fully flat into the boot floor. This means that all versions of the 2018 Volvo XC90 have a maximum volume of 85.7cu-ft (2,427L) with the two rear rows of seats folded down, 41.8cu-ft (1,184L) with the second row up, and 15.8cu-ft (447L) when all seats are in place.

Volvo’s XC90 starts from $46,900 in T5 Momentum, and $54,050 in T6 guise, whereas the R-Design and Inscription versions of the car can be had from $52,300 and $59,150, respectively.

For the top-of-the-line Excellence, the Swedish firm is asking $104,900, but leftover 2017MY examples benefit from a $20,000 discount, in addition to a “conquest” bonus that slices a further $3,500. Moreover, some dealers offer discounts of their own, so make sure you check the market before making a deposit for one.

Pagani Creates One-Off Huayra Lampo With Fiat Turbina Theme 14
Dec
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in Garage Italia Customs, new cars, Pagani, Pagani Huayra on 12 14th, 2017

Pagani has joined forces with Lapo Elkann to create yet another marvelous one-off Huayra – the Lampo, which isn’t Italian for…Lambo, but for ‘Lightning’.

Made for Garage Italia Customs and inspired by the Fiat Turbina Concept from 1954 that had a bespoke two-tone red and white livery together with turbine power, the supercar sports a similar paint scheme. No turbine power here, though.

Beneath the beautiful red shade, the carbon fiber bodywork is noticeable, and that’s not all, because the Pagani Huayra Lampo has welcomed additional parts made from the same lightweight material that were borrowed from the Huayra BC. It also has larger air intakes at the front.

Elsewhere, we notice the Italian flags applied to different parts of the exterior, including the brake calipers, whereas the bespoke interior has chequered brown leather that’s said to have been hand-crafted by an artisan in Turin. The cabin also features exposed aluminum anodized in bronze and carbon fiber trim that keep the theme going.

No upgrades were applied to the Mercedes-AMG-developed 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, as it’s still good for 730hp and 1,000Nm (738lb-ft) of torque, although we admit that it would have been a little cooler with the 790hp unit that powers the Huayra BC.

New Audi A8 Becomes A Tad Sportier With Fresh Optional Bits 14
Dec
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in audi, Audi A8, new cars on 12 14th, 2017

While Audi enthusiasts continue to wait for the new S8 to arrive, the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer has launched a new exterior sport package for their flagship saloon.

Priced at €1,950 ($2,294) on the A8 50 TDI and available across Europe from the end of January 2018, it adds an aluminum clip to the grille, and clear contours around the air inlets, which also get honeycomb grilles and vertical struts.

Slightly wider side sills and a tweaked rear bumper with a rhombus-grille insert and contrasting diffuser are also available, as is an aluminum strip on the body’s lower edging.

The seats have been revised as well, with what the automaker calls “optically integrated headrests” that feature electric height adjustment, in addition to the pneumatic seat and backrest side bolster adjustment. The latter are said to be approximately 15mm (0.6in) more deeply contoured than before.

Customers that just need to have these seats, which are compatible with all engine versions and both wheelbase lengths, will have to pay €4,520 ($5,318) for them, although before signing their name on the dotted line, they will also have to choose from five basic colors for the interior.

Op-Ed: New McLaren Too Ugly To Do Justice To Senna’s Name 13
Dec
Posted by Andreas Tsaousis in mclaren, McLaren Senna, new cars, Opinion on 12 13th, 2017

Last year, during the press conference at the launch of the 570GT, McLaren’s people talked about their future products, among which they promised “a surprise” – and none of the journos attending the event managed to guess what it would be.

As it turns out, it was the Senna hypercar that was revealed on December 9. A big surprise, indeed, as no one saw that one coming, but not necessarily a good one.

When it was launched, the otherwise very competent MP4-12C received lots of flak for its uninspired looks. McLaren’s designers obviously listened and their subsequent models were much more special.

Which brings us to its latest hypercar that’s named after the late Ayrton Senna, who many consider as the greatest Formula 1 driver of all times.

Now, beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but to this editor’s eyes, the Senna is the ugliest thing to ever come out of Woking. There’s no doubt that it’ll be amazing to drive, but perhaps, when they were penning it, they took the “form follows function” dictum at heart a tad too much.

Thus, the end result might produce tons of downforce and boast blistering performance, but its looks are so incongruous even a mother would have trouble calling it beautiful.

I have no doubt that every scoop, air intake and what-have-you serves a purpose and that it will be a blast to drive, especially on a track. I also think that McLaren’s own P1, for example, looks way better, and I’m baffled why they would grace this particular car with Senna’s name. Of all the monikers they could come up with, they chose that of the most iconic F1 driver for what, to my eyes at least, is just plain ugly.

Checking out the comments section, I discovered that I am not alone, as a great number of our readers agree, with some comparing it with VeilSide’s kit for the RX-7 or the Gumbert Apollo.

At least they gave it a decent, hypercar-worthy, interior. Still, even if it breaks the ‘Ring record or beats all of its hypercar rivals in comparison tests, there’s no way around the fact that something named after Senna deserved a much better design.

As for a lesson in how a company does justice to Ayrton’s name, just check out Ducati’s superbikes that not only go like stink, but look delicious, too.

Order The New VW Polo GTI From €23,950 In Germany [74 Images] 13
Dec
Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in Galleries, new cars, prices, video, VW, VW Polo, VW Videos on 12 13th, 2017

Volkswagen has started taking preliminary orders for the 2018 Polo GTI in Germany.

Building upon the sixth-gen supermini, the range-topping model has a €23,950 ($28,159) starting price, making it just €600 ($705) more expensive than one of its main rivals, the Renault Clio RS.

The 2018 Volkswagen Polo GTI is a lot of car for the money, as it sports a more aggressive design, rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and comes with specific sports seats that are dressed with the legendary ‘Clark’ plaid pattern, among other.

Optional extras include 18-inch alloy wheels, a first for the hot Polo, LED headlights, adjustable sports running gear, a panoramic sliding sunroof which claims to be the largest in the segment, a 300-watt Beats premium sound system, digital instrument cluster, and numerous driver assistance systems.

However, beneath the new sheet metal is where the action takes place. A 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, sourced from the previous-gen Golf GTI, is delivering 200PS (197hp) and 320Nm (236lb-ft) of torque. Paired to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the new Polo GTI takes 6.7sec for the classic 0-100km/h (62mph), before maxing out at 237km/h (147mph).

New Skoda Fabia Limited Edition Looks RS Good Without Actually Being One 13

Posted by Cristian Gnaticov in new cars, Skoda, Skoda Fabia on 12 13th, 2017

It may not be a new RS, but Skoda’s latest Fabia Limited Edition is one of the better looking models in the sub-compact’s lineup.

Created as a celebration of the company’s most successful year ever in motorsport with the Fabia R5, which is the WRC2’s big winner, it’s coming to 21 markets from February, 2018, in 1,300 examples.

It utilizes a 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine with 125PS (123hp), married to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The automaker claims that 0-100km/h (62mph) takes a respectable 8.8sec, and top speed stands at 203km/h (126mph).

Based on the Monte Carlo grade, this version of the Skoda Fabia is finished in Candy White, with a contrasting black roof and ‘WRC2 2017 champion’ label, and rides on 17-inch Savio alloy wheels, available in three color variants: bright green as seen here, white, and black.

It also gets sports suspension with adaptive shockabsorbers for a lower ground clearance and enhanced cornering abilities, and a throatier exhaust system.

No images of the interior have been released so far, but Skoda says that the special Fabia gets new exclusive sports seats and sporty steering wheel. Amundsen navigation system, automatic climate control, heated front seats, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and wipers, adaptive cruise control, and keyless entry&go are also part of the standard gear.

The late night news continues as Mercedes has released the first interior photos of the 2019 G-Class.

Set to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show next month, the redesigned G-Class will have an all-new cabin which is significantly more modern and luxurious than its predecessor.

Once seated behind the all-new steering wheel, drivers will find themselves surrounded by leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, and carbon fiber or metal accents. The niceties don’t stop there as the model comes equipped with heated seats, a seven-speaker audio system, and numerous new storage compartments including an illuminated area underneath the armrest.

The standard model comes equipped with analogue gauges but customers can order a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch display. When the latter option is selected, the digital instrument cluster combines with the 12.3-inch infotainment display to create a widescreen appearance.

Speaking of options, Mercedes confirmed the G-Class will be offered with a 16-speaker Burmester surround sound system as well as an Active Multicontour Seat package that includes special front seats that feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions. There will also be an assortment of designo options such as Lugano leather in Black, Nut Brown or Macchiato Beige. Other choices include the Exclusive Interior Plus package which adds things such as Nappa leather upholstery on the doors, center console, and dashboard.

Despite embracing newer technology, the interior has some classic design touches including a passenger side grab handle and chrome-accented switches for the differential locks. There are also two removable cup holders for the center console and round air vents that mimic the SUV’s round headlights.

The 2019 G-Class is larger than its predecessor and this gives drivers and passengers additional leg, shoulder, and elbow room. The most significant increase goes to rear seat passengers who will find an additional 5.9 inches (150 mm) of legroom.

Mercedes is keeping a lid on exterior photos but the automaker confirmed the G-Class will retain its iconic design which has largely stayed the same for decades. In particular, the company said the model will keeps its distinctive door handles, protection strips, and rear tire carrier.

Following its unveiling Detroit, the G-Class will go on sale in the United States in late 2018.
