Roewe Marvel X Is A Pure-Electric SUV From China 26

The Roewe Marvel X is celebrating its premiere online, prior to its public debut set for the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, next April.

Previewed by the Roewe Vision-E Concept that was shown in Shanghai this year, this is the zero-emission version of the upcoming Roewe RX7, reports CarNewsChina.

Tipping the scale at 1,759kg (3,878lbs), the electric SUV is 4,678mm (184.17in) long, 1,919mm (75.55in) wide, and 1,161mm (45.71in) tall, and has a 2,800mm (110.24in) long wheelbase. Its dimensions are very similar to those of a Porsche Macan, and make it smaller and lighter than a Tesla Model X.

Powering it are two electric motors, one at the front, with 116 horsepower, and the other at the rear, churning out 71hp. It’s 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration time is unknown, but it’s apparently capable of reaching a top speed of 180km/h (112mph).

Roewe haven’t announced any details surrounding its range, charging time, or battery options either, but don’t expect to see it outside China, as the Marvel X is strictly aimed at the People’s Republic.

VW Tipped To Reveal New Touareg At April’s Beijing Show 18
Dec
Posted by Carscoops Staff in Beijing Auto Show, Reports, VW, VW Touareg on 12 18th, 2017

Introduced back in 2010, the current-generation Volkswagen Touareg has grown a little long in the proverbial tooth. But relief is on its way.

According to Just-Auto, VW will reveal the all-new Touareg at the forthcoming Beijing Motor Show in April.

We’re expecting the new Touareg to grow in size slightly, in order to make room for the slate of smaller VW crossovers coming down the line. Still, it will likely remain more luxurious than the three-row Atlas. Look for its styling to borrow heavily from the T-Prime Concept GTE that Volkswagen unveiled the last time the show was in town, back in 2016.

The Touareg will be just the latest model to be based on the VW group’s MLB Evo platform that also underpins the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus – and will form the basis for the forthcoming new Audi Q8 as well.

The jury’s still out, however, on whether the Touareg will spawn a slantbacked variant to go after the likes of the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe, or leave that territory entirely to the aforementioned Audi.

China-Only Jeep Grand Commander Surfaces In Design Sketches 8
Dec

Following the 2018 Wrangler’s premiere in LA last week, Jeep are now looking to expand their presence in China with an entirely new SUV, named Grand Commander.

The patent images that leaked from the country’s National Trademark Office and were posted by Autohome, reveal a design similar to the Grand Cherokee, at the front.

However, it appears that the new SUV is actually the production version of the Jeep Yuntu Concept, which was shown for the first time at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. It comes with a generous footprint that will allow it to compete locally against the Toyota Highlander and Volkswagen Teramont, offering seating for seven, unlike the study’s six-seat layout.

Power is believed to come from the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder that’s found on the new Wrangler, where it makes 268hp and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of torque.

Further details are scarce at the moment, but Jeep is expected to shed more light on the new Grand Commander next April, as it should debut at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show.

In other related news, one patent images reveals additional FCA products aimed at the People’s Republic. The first one is allegedly the Chinese name of the Grand Commander, which is said to translate as ‘Big Commander’, literally, followed by the Deserthawk, a Renegade special edition.

The Pacifica is also on that list, as is the Summit Grand Cherokee (Grand Cherokee Summit, perhaps?), a more upscale version of the SUV, and Hyperspace, which could announce a new concept car. Finally, Portal, and Chrysler Portal are mentioned as well, which likely refer to the Portal Concept that debuted at CES 2017.

New Nissan Navara-Based SUV Reportedly Debuting At 2018 Beijing Motor Show 3

After years of development, Nissan appears to be ready to present their new Navara-based SUV to the world.

Drive spoke to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi’s light commercial vehicle division chief, Ashwani Gupta, at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, where he hinted that the vehicle’s unveiling is scheduled for the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, next April.

“Nissan is extremely competent on frame-based vehicles, frame-based trucks, and frame-based SUVs, and we are going to cover each and every segment of frame. Now when? I think you’ll have to wait a little bit longer, please wait a little bit longer to Beijing Motor Show”, Gupta said.

Coming to challenge the likes of the Ford Everest, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and Chevrolet Trailblazer, the as-of-yet-unnamed Nissan SUV (though we’ve heard it could be X-Terra) will serve as a replacement to the old Pathfinder.

As the leaked pictures show, it looks nearly identical to the latest NP300 Navara, but the biggest change will lie in the rear passenger compartment.

We will have to wait for Nissan to drop more details about their new body-on-frame SUV, but nevertheless, we expect it to be offered with 2WD and 4WD configurations. Powering it should be the same range of engines found in its pickup truck sibling, which will be mated to manual and automatic transmissions.
