Visit Paris, Come Back With A Collection Of Classic Lamborghinis 7

There are plenty of good reasons to visit Paris: the architecture, the food, the culture…. But one auction house has another reason in store for you: the Lamborghinis.

That’s right: Paris, not Bologna, is the place to go this winter if you’re keen on starting your own collection of classic Lamborghinis. Because RM Sotheby’s has a whole slate of them lined up for its upcoming annual sale during Retromobile week.

Among them is a 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2, one of the first that the Raging Bull marque made. The property of one owner for 50 years and with less than 40,000 miles on the clock, the Azzurro Mettallizzato sports car with a black leather interior is expected to sell for between €450,000 and €500,000 (or about $540-600k).

There’s a white 1970 Espada on offer as well, held by the same owner from new until just a few years ago. It’s offered without reserve, but is projected to sell for €160-200k (~$190-240k). A dark blue 1971 Jarama 400 GT (also a 2+2) is valued at €130-180k (~$156-216k).

Prefer your Lambos with the engine behind the cabin? There’s a splendid yellow ’85 Jalpa valued at €100-125k ($120-150k), a white 1991 Countach 25th Anniversary edition at €250-300k ($300-360k), and a silver ’96 Diablo SE30 at €275-325k ($330-390k).

There’s no Miura to be found, but with the prices those have been commanding of late, that may be just as well – especially for the budding collector. Scope ’em out in the images below captured by Dirk de Jager, Peter Singhof, Remi Dargegen, and Lukas Laurikietis for RM Sotheby’s, and pack your bags for February 7 at the Place Vauban in Paris.

‘Wolf Of The Autostrada’ Sees The Return Of Ruf’s Iconic Yellowbird 6

The Ruf CTR, better known as the Yellowbird, is something of a mystical figure in the automotive world.

At the time of its release in 1987, the Yellowbird had 469 hp and 408 lb-ft on tap and could sprint all the way to 213 mph (342 km/h). The car then became the stuff of legend when Stefan Roser brought to the Nurburgring, sliding around the circuit’s incredibly dangerous corners.

Perhaps eager to remind us of the 1980s, Ruf has just dropped an interesting short movie dubbed ‘Wolf of the Autostrada’, starring a Ferrari Testarossa, Lamborghini Countach, Aston Martin Vantage, and the Yellowbird.

The film captures some mesmerizing driving of the four performance cars and even stars Valentino Balboni and none other than Stefan Roser himself.

If you have a spare 5 minutes, this is the way to spend it.

Exotic automakers don't replace their models quite as frequently as more mass-market brands. Lamborghini especially. The Diablo was in production for the better part of 12 years. The Gallardo for 11. But the Italian automaker never produced anything for as long as it did the Countach.
