Drag Race

If you’ve ever wondered which supercar truly is the fastest when it comes to drag racing, then we have something that should interest you.

A Porsche 911 Turbo recently went head-to-head in a drag race against a Corvette Z06 and a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560.

The premise was simple: The winner of the first race will then go up against the luscious Lamborghini in the final race. This obviously means that first race is between the Porsche and the Corvette.

It is important to keep in mind that the Corvette Z06 is the only one out of these three cars that does not have an all-wheel drive. Will this already be putting the Corvette at a disadvantage?

Now, the best thing about this drag race is that all the cars involved are stock cars. This means that none of them have been modified or tuned in any way – it truly is a reflection of the car and it’s standard manufacturing.

So, who will it be; the powerful Porsche, the lovely Lambo or the cautious Corvette? Check the video below to find out!

The all-new 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo is sure to be a hit among enthusiasts even if it only comes with the highly touted 7-Speed PDK Dual-Clutch Transmission. The new Porsche 911 Turbo gets 520 horsepower while the Porsche 911 Turbo S pumps out 560 horsepower from its direct-injected 3.8-liter boosted flat 6-cylinder engine.

Revealed before its official world debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September, the new Porsche 911 Turbo will be able to dash from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. With an optional Sport Chrono Package on the Turbo S, the 911 should be good for 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and top out at 198 mph.

Nurburgring lap time for the new 911 Turbo is said to be well under 7:30, as claimed by Porsche.

Of course there is new gadgetry packed inside of the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo, such as a new rear steering system that turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction up to 2.8 degrees under 31 mph and steers the rear wheels parallel to the front above 51 mph.

Obviously, Porsche didn’t just shoehorn two turbos on the 3.8-liter flat-six and forget about making it look different and make a different set of tire tracks. The new Porsche 911 Turbo is now wider than the current Carrera and sports a wheelbase about 9.8-inches shorter than the outgoing Turbo model. .

That about sums up the stuff you want to know about the 911 Turbo other than the price, which will start at $149,250 for the 911 Turbo and $182,050 for the 911 Turbo S. The new Porsche 911 Turbo will go on sale near the end of this year (2013).

Porsche 911 Turbos Make Poor Submarines 26

Warning: the two minute tilt-shift video below will be hard to watch if you’re any kind of car fan at all. In it, authorities fish a Porsche 911 Turbo out of the Rhine River in Zurich, not once, but twice. It turns out the original lifting strap was too long, so the Porsche was sunk into the mud of the Rhine a second time, while the rigging company set up a shorter sling. We suppose the car was a write-off after it hit the water the first time, but that doesn’t make the second dunking any easier to watch.

We can’t tell you much about the accident, but we do know the 24-year-old owner wasn’t behind the wheel when the car hit the water. Instead, it was his 29-year-old friend who drove the car off a boat dock, and will undoubtedly spend the rest of his life trying to live this incident down. The moral to the story is this: be careful who you toss the keys to, especially if you live near a river and drive a $150,000 Porsche.

Video: Hennessey Cadillac CTS-V Wagon V650 vs. Porsche 911 Turbo Drag Race 24

Just for sh*ts and giggles, why not race the new Cadillac CTS-V Wagon against a Porsche 911 Turbo (997)? It was bound to happen. The guy in his new family station-wagon would not only want to stage against a Porsche 911 Turbo, but he would like to annihilate it also. That is where John Hennessey and his team come into play. They take the new Cadillac CTS-V Wagon and turn it into an even angrier beast with a big-ass to put the smack-down on a Porsche 911 Turbo. Will it do the job? Let’s just say this baby not only has a nice plump ass, but she has the long legs to match.
