Toronto police are hunting for an arsonist who set fire to a Porsche Cayenne in a brazen attack on December 29th, 2017.

The unidentified arsonist, believed to be a man, was filmed by a security camera outside a home, dousing the interior of the German SUV with gasoline before lighting it on fire and making his getaway.

While it is not clear from the footage, police suggest the man smashed the front passenger window before starting the fire.

Taking to YouTube, the Toronto Police Service is asking for public assistance in finding the man, asserting that he fled the scene in a white four-door sedan. He was seen wearing a dark jacket, gloves, and black boots. Authorities believe the man could have sustained serious injuries.

Those with information have been urged to contact the police at 416-808-5500 or to call Crime Stoppers on 416-222-TIPS.

Posted by Brad Anderson in Canada, nissan, Reports on 12 22nd, 2017

Nissan Canada has revealed that personal information of customers that used its financing services may have been compromised in a possible data breach.

The automaker was made aware of “unauthorized access to personal information” that occurred on December 11, reportedly targeting those that have financed a car through Nissan Canada Finance and Infiniti Financial Services Canada.

A statement released by Nissan says that the unauthorized access could have impacted information including customer names, addresses, vehicle make and model, vehicle identification number, credit score, loan amount, and monthly payment.

Nissan doesn’t yet know how many of its 1.13 million finance customers could have been affected but says it is notifying all customers and offering them 12 months of credit monitoring services from TransUnion free of charge.

“We sincerely apologize to the customers whose personal information may have been illegally accessed and for any frustration or inconvenience that this may cause. We are focused on supporting our customers and ensuring the security of our systems,” Nissan Canada Finance president Alain Ballu said.

Moose Filmed Running Wild In Ontario, Canada 9

Spotting a wild moose in Canada is far from a rarity but seeing one run rampant through the streets of Ontario? That’s certainly not something that happens every day.

On Saturday night, a moose was filmed in the town of Sudbury without a care in the world. In fact, one motorist was even able to capture the moment the moose ran directly at a police car, perhaps understanding that it wasn’t welcome on the busy road.

Finding humor in the curious encounter, police took to Twitter to warn locals, posting “Please use caution as the moose is failing to follow direction by police and may pose a risk to the public should the animal come onto the road.”

Shortly after, the moose, nicknamed Martha by police, wandered through a parking lot before leaving the area later that night.

Canada Warns Against U.S.’s Proposed NAFTA Changes 22
Nov
Posted by Brad Anderson in Canada, Donald Trump, Mexico, NAFTA, Reports on 11 22nd, 2017

Canada is preparing to hit back at proposals made by the U.S. to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

As negotiations between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico continue over the agreement, Plant reports that negotiators for Canada are planning a presentation which will highlight how the proposal could devastate its domestic car industry.

Proposals made by the United States consists of four main parts which could impact the car industry. First, it would require at least half of a car’s parts are from the U.S. to avoid a tariff. From there, the proposal includes increasing the amount of content required from North America, making methods of calculating parts percentages more stringent, and forcing car companies to introduce these changes within a year.

“What they’ve put forward is completely unworkable. It doesn’t even achieve their own goals. We intend to walk them through that in extreme detail,” a Canadian official said.

NAFTA talks are currently being held in Mexico City between officials from the three North American countries.

It is reported that Mexico is working on a counter-offer to the U.S. proposal on the issue of auto parts.

O Canada: Five Naked People Arrested After Bizarre Kidnapping And Crash 8
Nov
Posted by Michael Gauthier in Canada, Offbeat News, Police, Reports on 11 8th, 2017

Canada is often seeing as America’s friendly neighbor to the north but the country pulled a Florida earlier this week thanks to a bizarre naked kidnapping.

According to the CBC News, three people were kidnapped at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning and forced into a vehicle against their will. Thankfully, all three were able to escape and flag down a passing motorist who offered their assistance.

The kidnappers weren’t deterred by this development and rammed into the back of the truck that was being driven by the good samaritan. The crash didn’t injure the victims but it sent the kidnapper’s car into a ditch. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrived shortly thereafter and were surprised to find five naked suspects.

Police took them into custody but four of them had to be transported to the hospital for undisclosed injuries. The three adult suspects will be charged with kidnapping and resisting arrest while the other two suspects were “youths” and were released without charges.

The investigation is still ongoing but the RCMP believes “this was a targeted incident and that all parties were known to each other.” Unsurprisingly, police also believe drugs or alcohol may have been involved.

Both a C6-generation Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota Yaris have been severely damaged in a bizarre crash in Brampton, Ontario.

Late last week, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services responded to calls after a Corvette somehow landed on top of a parked Yaris in a driveway after the sports car speared off the road.

Police are still investigating the exact cause of the crash but it’s believed that the driver of the Corvette lost control of the car, veered off the road, bounced off a tree and ended up on top of the Yaris.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities extracted the 42-year-old Corvette driver from the car with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. Fortunately, the Yaris owner was not in the hatchback at the time of the crash.

Speaking to CTV News, the homeowner, Payal Mehta, said the family heard a loud bang and rushed outside to see what happened.

“We just heard a big sound in the house. We just came out and we saw the car – the Corvette – on our driveway, all up on my car.”
