Jeep has officially unveiled the 2011 Compass at the  Detroit Auto Show. This face-lifted version of the original Jeep Compass is available with a Freedom Drive II package which adds low-range gearing, an increased ride height, and Trail Rated badging.

The model features a Grand Cherokee-inspired design with modified fascias, a revised grille, and restyled lighting units with optional 17-inch or 18 inch aluminum wheels.

Interior feature minor changes along with a new center armrest, soft-touch plastics, an updated steering wheel and comfortable seating.

The entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder produces 158 hp (117 kW) and 141 lb-ft (191 Nm) of torque that enables 23 mpg city / 29 mpg highway. The optional 2.4-liter engine produces 172 hp (128 kW) and 165 lb-ft (223 Nm) of torque.

Variable Valve Timing (VVT) also returns 23 mpg city / 29 mpg highway despite being more powerful. Both the engines are coupled with a five-speed manual or an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT).
