Chris Harris, from EVO Magazine, takes a trip state-side to sunny California for a drive in the all-new 2012 Porsche 911. Interestingly enough, the road conditions are not up to Chris’ standards but he seems to somehow manage to have a good time test driving a vehicle that he cannot find much to disagree with. In the end Chris agrees that the new 991 iteration is not perfect, but it’s very very close to being so. Enjoy the video below!

If you observe the car’s exterior, you get to understand this edition of Porsche sports a front fascia that reminds you of the current model.

Besides, the car also has much number of new tweaks including the A-pillar including new door mirrors, a smaller greenhouse, svelte tail-lights and a restyled posterior.

There are small differences incorporated into the vehicles’ built as well. The new edition is almost 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wider than the existing model and drives on a wheelbase that has increased up to approximately 4 inches (10.2 cm).

Performance specifications remain same; the car will most likely sport a 3.4-liter flat-six engine with 350 PS (257 kW / 345 hp. There are also rumors that a Turbo version will deliver an output of around 550 PS (405 kW / 542 hp).

You can choose between seven-speed manual or an optional seven-speed PDK to pair with the engine, irrespective of your choice of power trains. Tell us what you feel.

But that’s not what we have to put in the picture now. We just noticed that the car comes with a seven-speed manual transmission, marked clearly in the gear knob of the car.

And in case if you have missed it, skip forward the video to the 1:07 mark and pause! You can clearly make out the gear knob etched with five marking up top and three marking down below. The 7- speed manual transmission sure is an ace feature, but it’s not a big surprise to you, right? You might have already come across speculations that had hinted at that.

We will get a confirmation on that this September, when we finally have access to this redesigned Porsche 911 while it surfaces inFrankfurt.

A handful of fabulous photos of the next generation 2012 Porsche 911 have emerged. After almost two years of auto spies working hard throughout the period of testing that Porsche has been subjecting its prototypes to, these new photos finally give us a glimpse of a minimally camouflaged vehicle.

Enthusiasts are overjoyed that pictures of the Cabrio as well as the coupe prototypes were revealed. As far as details are concerned, it has been understood that the vehicle will have a stop/start system and also regenerative braking coming as a standard feature. Engines will also be upgraded, a revised 3.6 liter flat six producing 365 bhp (272 kW / 370 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque will start off the process; the Carrera S variant will get an updated 3.8 liter 6-cylinder power plant featuring 415 bhp (309 kW / 421 PS) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque.

There will be a choice available between the six-speed manual transmission or the seven-speed PDK.

The shape of the 911 will stick closely with the iconic shape that is familiar to fans. There are some new details on the prototypes that were seen like the new design line that appeared in between the set of lights at the rear; and the new adjustable spoiler as well.
