Next-gen Mercedes ML-Class Seen 10
Posted by Alex Ion in Automotive News, BMW X5, cayenne, hybrid cars, Mercedes Benz, ML-Class, porsche, Upcoming Events on 12 10th, 2010

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz ML-Class is currently going into the final testing stages. Recently the vehicle was spotted while it was being tested to see how it measured up against the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5.

These two vehicles would be the biggest competition that the ML-Class would face in this segment, and engineers would naturally be keen to see how the next-generation vehicle would fare when up against them.

The pictures were taken in Southern Europe, where two ML prototypes in deep camouflage were seen when the entourage was taking a break from testing. The vehicle seems to be a bit lower than its forerunner.

Set to debut as a 2012 model in 2011, the ML Class is likely to have engine options that include the 3.0 liter V6 diesel, a 3.5 liter gasoline/petrol V6 and a range-topping 5.5 liter V8.

It is likely that a hybrid variant will also be available, with the company saying that a plug-in hybrid variant is also being considered.

Audi has released a promotional video highlighting the almost completely electric version of its compact hatch, the Audi A1 e-tron. The exciting new version possesses an electric motor that produces 75 kW (102 PS) of power (45 kW / 61 PS continuous) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque (150 Nm / 111 lb-ft continuous) and is ably complemented by the 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

If you want to drive it only in electric mode, this vehicle will take you 50 km (31 miles), which can be stretched to 250km with the help of the range-extending engine. This is an interesting addition that the car has – a 15 kW single-piston rotary engine, which charges the batteries while the car is running.

The vehicle reaches top speeds of 130 km/h and does 0 to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds. Reports say that the CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency are good – 1.9 liters/100 km (European cycle) and emissions of 45 g/km. As of now, only the video has been released, the world is still waiting to hear production and launch details.

This focus will be coupled with a keen eye on excellence in engineering to ensure top level innovation.

Reports say that the move is Subaru’s way of moving with the times and focusing on the green market and products. There is a strong possibility that the company will be concentrating more on hybrid, battery electric and possibly alternative fuel vehicles in the future.

As far as the new concept is concerned, all that can be deciphered from the teaser that was released is that the vehicle looks like it could be the next generation Impreza, which is due in 2012.

We have finally been able to get a whole lot more information from Lexus regarding their hybrid line up that will be featured at SEMA 2010. The CT 200h F Sport Concept has high performance brakes and adjustable sport suspension with 18-inch F Sport wheels equipped with Pirelli PZero Nero tires. Another vehicle that has been revealed is the HS 250h by VIP Auto Salon, which displays an aerodynamic body kit, tinted windows, and flashes 20-inch Work Gnosis GS4 wheels.

The 0-60 Magazine GS 450h is an interesting offering, a hybrid with an attitude. With a five-piece carbon fiber body kit, a TEIN coil over suspension, a GReddy titanium exhaust, and a sizable striking rear wing, this is one car that people will notice. The interior has a roll cage, Sparco seats, and a racing-inspired center stack.
