Ford Expedition “Baja-Forged Adventurer” Winks At Raptor-Loving Families 2

This is probably the closest the Ford Expedition will ever get to a Raptor and we love it.

Ford brought the Expedition “Baja-Forged Adventurer” to LA Auto Show, following its debut in SEMA a few weeks back.

Built by LGE-CTS Motorsports, this Expedition features custom fender flares in order to fit 35-inch Mud-Terrains, special bumpers for more ground clearance and protection and an uprated ICON Vehicle Dynamics suspension.

The list of upgrades doesn’t stop there though as this one-off rugged version also comes with a Borla cat-back exhaust, a big brake kit from Sparta Evolution, KC HiLites LEDs, a tent and a fridge/freezer. Inside we get custom leather seats, an upgraded audio system and a safe from Console Vault.

The whole idea was to turn the Expedition into a proper off-road adventurer that can fit seven passengers in style and comfort and judging from the looks, the Baja-Forged Adventurer nails the description perfectly.

This Modified BMW E9 CS Will Blow Your Mind 13

Although the SEMA Show is typically flooded with tuning projects from the aftermarket’s leading companies, dozens of enthusiastic owners also bring their custom-built rides to the show and often, they’re the real head turners.

While attending this year’s event, Car Throttle had the opportunity to check out a modified BMW E9 CS. Be warned, you may have to carefully pick your jaw up from the floor after watching this video.

Everything from the bodywork to the powertrain of this E9 has been overhauled, starting with the engine. In place of the 1960-spec mill is the straight-six of the BMW E36 M3, an engine which produced about 240 hp from factory when sold in the U.S. Not satisfied with such power, the owner slapped on a huge turbocharged and mated the engine to an E36 transmission.

The bodywork of the car is also particularly amazing. There is a selection of new fiberglass panels, including rear wheel arches, which now make the E9 about 7-feet wide. There’s also a set of BBS centerlock wheels. Unbelievably, they are 15.5-inches wide at the rear!

Zero To 60 Designs Reveals Tesla Model S Bodykit 10

Zero to 60 Designs, the company which pissed off Ford with its Mustang GTT, has returned to the SEMA Show with a modified Tesla Model S, dubbed the Zero TS.

Instead of messing with the complicated electric powertrain of the Model S, Zero to 60 Designs has focused on overhauling the car’s interior and exterior with a bold bodykit that works surprisingly well with the Tesla’s classy design.

Modifications begin with a custom front bumper that incorporates new black accents, cooling ducts, and round fog lights. From there, the package has a small trunklid lip spoiler and a custom rear bumper.

Zero to 60 Designs has also changed the interior by applying bright red leather across the seats, doors, steering wheel, and the lower portion of the dashboard.

Prices for the company’s Model S package start at $6,500.

Vilner Unveils Bespoke Tramontana With Gold Accents 9

The interior specialists at Vilner have created a modified Tramontana XTR and unveiled the vehicle at the recent SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Keen supercar enthusiasts will be familiar with the Tramontana name but many other won’t be. In short, Tramontana is a Spanish automaker that fused the worlds of supercars and jet fighters to create one of the wildest creations on four wheels. It’s unclear if the company is still building vehicles but the XTR pictured looks just as wild as the vehicle rendered some five years ago.

Vilner started off with a blank canvas and started its modifications by painting the Tramontana matte black. Next, it applied a plethora of gold accents to the supercar’s exterior to make it look like a spaceship from a far-away planet.

Inside, the gold theme continues with bright trimmings applied to the seats, steering wheel, speaker surrounds, dials and gauge cluster. The results are one-part intriguing and three-parts tacky.

Toyota Wants To Chase FWD ‘Ring Record With Modified C-HR 5

Posted by Brad Anderson in Nurburgring, Reports, SEMA, SEMA show, TOYOTA, Toyota C-HR on 11 5th, 2017

Toyota’s customized C-HR on display at SEMA isn’t all show and no go. In fact, the tuning company behind the ‘world’s fastest CUV’ believes it could set a new front-wheel drive lap record at the Nurburgring.

Built by Dan Gardner Spec and commissioned by Toyota, the bespoke C-HR is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering a total of 591 hp. Mated to that powerplant is a five-speed manual transmission and around Willow Springs, the car is reportedly quicker than a McLaren 650S Spider, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and a Nissan GT-R Nismo.

Discussing the crazy project with Autocar, Dan Gardner said he wanted to make a supercar killer with the bespoke C-HR and would love to take it to Germany.

“The car was built for SEMA and Toyota has no plans for it from now on. But it’s the real deal. Personally, it would be a dream to take it to the Nordschleife. I have no doubt it could set the front-wheel-drive record there,” he said.

As it stands, the fastest front-wheel drive car to lap the Nurburgring is the Honda Civic Type R with a blistering 7 minutes and 43.8 second lap, achieved with a 316 hp 2.0-liter VTEC engine.

While the C-HR from SEMA has almost double the power, seamlessly sending that power to the front wheels at a track as treacherous as the Nurburgring wouldn’t be easy.

Nevertheless, we’d love to see Dan Gardner Spec try, especially if it had the backing of Toyota.

SpeedKore Creates Special Ford Mustang Boss For Robert Downey Jr. 3

Noted tuning company and custom car builder SpeedKore, has just unveiled a bespoke 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 built for Robert Downey Jr. at SEMA.

The hugely-successful actor commissioned SpeedKore to create the heavily-modified Mustang and according to the company, was involved heavily in the making of the muscle car. With a mixture of original parts and modern-day technologies, it is something special.

The beating heart of the car is a Ford Performance Aluminator 5.0-liter V8 with a Stage 2 Ford Performance/Roush supercharger. No horsepower and torque figures have been quoted but we do know the engine is mated to a Bowler T56 transmission that sends power to the pavement through a Detroit Speed 9-inch rear differential.

Like other recent projects from SpeedKore, Downey Jr’s Mustang has been adorned in lightweight carbon fiber body panels, including the hood, bumpers, fenders, quarter extensions, and front and rear spoilers. The exterior was then painted in PPG Khaki yellow.

In the cabin, Gabe’s Street Road Custom Interiors worked its magic and fitted a pair of bucket seats, stunning dark brown leather, a bespoke steering wheel, and a unique air conditioning system.

Posted by Michael Gauthier in Classics, Ford, Ford Mustang, Replica, SEMA show on 11 2nd, 2017

Following a preview last year, Revology has officially unveiled its 1967 Shelby GT500 replica at SEMA.

Officially licensed by Shelby, the car features a reproduction steel body which can be painted in an assortment of different colors. The model also has a fiberglass hood, LED lighting units, and a high performance exhaust system. Other notable highlights include side stripes and 17-inch aluminum wheels which are backed up by four wheel disc brakes that feature ventilated and slotted rotors.

The retro styling continues in the cabin and the car comes nicely equipped with air conditioning, power windows / locks, and brushed aluminum trim. Revology also installs power front seats, a classic wood rim steering wheel, and a four-speaker audio system. Customers can also order a premium audio system and a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

A supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine resides under the hood and produces 600 hp (447 kW) and 475 lb-ft (643 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Regardless of which gearbox is selected, both send power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential.

Pricing starts at $219,000 for models equipped with the manual transmission and $222,840 for vehicles with the automatic gearbox.

Gunther Werks Creates A Porsche 993 Carrera 2 Fitting Of A GT3 Badge 2

Posted by Brad Anderson in porsche, Porsche Videos, Porsche-911, SEMA, SEMA show, video on 11 2nd, 2017

In the middle of over-the-top off-roaders and tuner cars, there is one Porsche at SEMA that has really attracted the attention of gearheads.

Dubbed the 400R, the Porsche in question is a 993 extensively modified by Gunther Werks. With a totally reworked body, bespoke drivetrain components and a half-million-dollar price tag, it is about as insane as a 993 can get.

When developing the 400R, Gunther Werks set out to create a potent 993 that would have been fitting of the GT3 badge from Porsche. As such, the car features a custom 4.0-liter air-cooled six-cylinder engine, body panels made exclusively from pre-preg carbon fiber and a track wider than any modern Porsche 911.

Speaking to the men that created the car, Car Throttle discovered the incredible lengths that Gunther Werks went to in creating the car. Among these touches include the installation of a lightweight lithium-ion battery and an all-new electric air conditioning and heating system designed to minimize weight and reduce horsepower loss.

LGE CTS VW Atlas Ready For Rally Thanks To Tanner Foust 2
Nov
Posted by Brad Anderson in SEMA, SEMA show, tuning, VW, VW Atlas on 11 2nd, 2017

The VW Atlas which Tanner Foust helped to create with LGE CTS Motorsport has just landed at the SEMA Show and looks ready to drive through the world’s most inhospitable deserts.

Recently teased in the lead-up to the event in Las Vegas, this is the first time we’ve seen the new Atlas get modified in any significant way. It certainly looks the part.

Perhaps the most notable difference between this modified Atlas and a regular one is the increased ride height created by overhauling the suspension system. Thanks to the increased ride height, a set of off-road wheels and tires have been installed alongside a set of bolt-on flared wheel arches at the front and rear.

To further aid in any off-road escapades the Atlas may encounter, the front bumper has been removed and replaced by a steel skid plate. Elsewhere, the SUV includes a steel frame on the roof to carry any number of things and accessible via a small ladder mounted to the hatch.

It’s unclear if Tanner Foust has any plans with the car but we’d love to see it being put through its paces.
