Certain core details regarding the proposed 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 got leaked at U.S. Chevrolet dealers’ meeting. At the meeting, the vehicle was referred to as the ‘HP Edition’. It was solely called by that moniker throughout the meeting.

The meeting confirmed that the production begins on January 1st, 2012. The model will feature a 6.2 liter supercharged engine. The edition will also be fitted with a Magnetic Ride suspension and comes with 285F/330R tires.

The interior of the vehicle is likely to undergo certain modifications, including modest updates with brighter trim-work. As spotted in various leaked and spied images, the auto’s hood will have a louvre/slat design.

It is being speculated that the GM may have decided the 6.2 liter LSA V8 from the Cadillac CTS-V as the perfect one. The next Z28 may feature the same perhaps with some slight modifications. The engine produces 556 bhp (415 kW) and 551 lb-ft of torque (746 Nm).

The Nürburgring circuit in Germany was the venue for some hard testing of the upcoming 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. At the occasion, some spy shots were taken and the rest of the world gets to have a glimpse of what the prototype is likely to look like.

Very cleverly camouflaged in a checkered design, it’s tough to see what lies under the pattern, but since a rendering has been seen earlier it will be safe to assume that body-design will be similar to that.

The rumor is that the engine of the next Camaro Z28 will be the same 6.2 liter LSA V8 that goes into the Cadillac CTS-V. This piece produces 556 bhp (415 kW) and 551 lb-ft of torque (746 Nm).

It’s possible that Chevy may tune it a little higher for the Z28 or perhaps just leave it at that. Set to make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next January, more pictures and details of the Camaro Z28 will be out soon.
